    Cool, thanks for the pointers.
Time to look at tduf tool 🙂

Ok just having a quick look over that link and i think i get it to some extent. We would need to enter 'binoculars' values for ALL cars in the game! There is no universal/global value that applies to all instances (like a FOV value in a regualr game (like Morrowind/Fallout etc)). Ouch. And each one would need testing in each car!
And on that note not all car mirrors actually work properly as is! Many reflect 'fuzzy' or are angled wrong etc, so those might all need adjusting too (model work?).
Hmmm. I would need a 'cheat' way to get access to all cars in game to even start to go through this? Is that a feature of tduf tool by any chance?

So, this is a pretty old thread and i'm not sure if the people are still around?
I would like to give this a go, as in help test things as i 'think' it might be a solution to the poor viewing angles in many of the current car models (and not being able to adjust the seat position any further).
A wider FOV would indeed allow more cars to have working mirrors in the cockpit view (a view i like to drive in).
So what do i need (tools) and what do i need to do to test this 'binoculars' variable?
@Djey i downloaded your .bin file and had a look at it, but i'm not sure where i would put the '16640', '16768' or '16895' values as they all seem too high for what is in that code packet? Would those need converting down as Mondodimotori had in his post (57, 35 and 10 etc)?
So you might need to give me a very quick and basic 'how to' series of posts so i can do the right thing to get this tested in game :)

Don't run it with RTSS running, i've had that cause problems before (it 'clashes' with the project paradise launcher i think). 120 fps in the 'shops' is fine, as is 60fps in game when using Vsync from the project paradise launcher, it's working ok.

However i'd suggest you might be looking to do a complete reinstall from scratch and follow closely the video guide at the start of this thread. I also have the retail disk and following that video guide 'exactly' helped me to get it to run fine. I did install outside of the C: drive and 'Program Files' though to avoid any potential admin access issues from that. My game is on E:\\Games\Atari etc.

Ah ok thanks for the pointer Milli, i think i have that tool around (not used it so i'll need to read up) and if that is too tricky i'll just stick to the cars with working mirrors :)

    Was that at me??
    psp? (Play Station Portable)?
    change cars?
Sorry but i don't know what your talking about.
IF you are asking how i used the patch to update my game, i downloaded the three parts as directed, then used 7zip to unzip them which gave me a folder around 269MB in size,
I then opened that folder and opened the 'Extra' folder and then 'Expert Bots(kinda)' and copy/pasted the 'AIBotPers.xml' file into where my game install of TDU is (this file goes in .../Atari/Test Drive Unlimited/TDU/Euro/Bnk/Database in your install). This gives the harder/better performing AI bots.
For the main bit of the patch update i opened the 'Test Drive Unlimited' folder (from the patch files we unzipped as above) and copy/pasted the 'Euro' folder in that over the one in my installed game .../Atari/Test Drive Unlimited/TDU/Euro, allowing the prompts to over-right files that pops up.
Then i ran the game and enjoyed the changes.

    Awesome 🙂
I gave the harder AI a bash and it makes that whole opening part of the game (F class) much more interesting. I had to pick my fights and learn to accept 2nd, 3rd or non places! Lots of fun and everything working as smooth as silk so far. Thank you (and any other modders involved).

I find it 'amusing' when the traffic in front decides to change lane, then changes it's mind at the last minute and drifts back! 😉
Never assume that 'other' driver knows what they hell they are doing (in relation to driving a car) or where the hell they are going. A good rule in general for driving in real life and TDU!

    Update:
Both the bug report for the Halawai Boulevard race and the issues with getting fuel working properly (even after having followed the info in the Project Paradise thread) were related to running TDU from the game exe files included in the Test Drive Unlimited Platinum mod. I had to use the games original Test Drive Unlimited.exe (from after the DVD install) to resolve those two issues.
So if people are having issues getting things to run as described in the first posts of the threads (here and in Project Paradise) always make sure you are running from the original game .exe file and not any other.

So now that i am running the game and mod correctly i do have a game based question. Where on earth do i upgrade my 'Ford' cars? As it seems the 'Today's American Parts' upgrade specialist near Honolulu does NOT do Ford!!!?
A: Found it! It is not far from one of those starting choice car dealers, in this case Oahu Motors.

Thank you Milli and all the modders that were involved in this project :)
I'm very new to TDU, i first played it last year(!) after picking up a DVD disc of it second hand and had a blast with it for many months. Turbodock forums were a great resource for my getting it running well etc. So thanks for the whole forums here too; TDU is a rare classic game that still holds up pretty well vs the more current competition (like the Horizon series etc), and the efforts from the community here to keep it alive and well is awesome :)

Overall i had little issue getting TDU Platinum working fine (just single player as i rarely play online mp games) and love all the new content i can already see is here (i've been playing for a few hours since yesterday when i installed the mod), all those cars! It's great.

I have a couple of questions i have not found an answer to (in the mods files etc) yet.

    1. Is this mod (Platinum) the pinnacle of a number of TDU mods, like does it include them also? I'm thinking of the Community Mod and Project Paradise in particular (sorry if i get any names wrong, trying to understand the history and info of the mods is hard to work out as a newbie around here!). The reason i'm after this info is i'm not sure if i need to add either of those two mods to Platinum or not, or even other mods?
So is Platinum all i need, say if i want to get working fuel gauges (and mechanics) etc? Do i need other things for example if i wanted to get a day/night cycle (is that even possible? I think i have seen it mentioned somewhere around here?).
Also is there a complete list (other than the one at the top of this thread) that gives more info on the mod and what it includes (in terms of other mods) and what it does and how it's parts function etc? For example it seems i needed to add -fuel as an extension to the shortcut extension exe for the game in order to get a 'working' fuel mechanic in game (as opposed to a fuel gauge that does not change). I got that info from the Project Paradise thread, but if i understand correctly that is also part of Platinum? I'm still not sure if that results in a working fuel mechanic just yet (i probably need to drive more miles, and then find a petrol station?).

    2. What is the best process to report bugs still present? Are there some that are 'off limits' and not needed to be reported here (like maybe the position co-ord bug on the new car models for carrying passengers etc)?
If i find time i might try my hand at fixing some bugs if i can (i've modded many games from Morrowind to NMS to CivIV etc) but i don't want to ruffle any feathers here during that process! :)

Anyway thanks for an awesome mod effort (everyone!) and if you can point me to where i can get more detailed info on this project i'd be very grateful.

ZG264 got a reaction from andrey zyb in Test Drive Unlimited: Project Paradise [v0.03A PUBLIC BETA AVAILABLE!]
Just to show the issue here is a pic of how the game launches using Project Paradise launcher, in terms of the game window size (even if the game resolution is set to 1600x900 in the game settings).
My desktop is 1920x1080. The game in the background is Brigador and that launches as a 1600x900 window. Then when i click 'Start' in the Project Paradise launcher i get that game window for TDU which i guess is about 1024x768 or something like that.
I then have to use the windows key to get out the TDU game window and fiddle around and stretch the TDU launch screen so it fits exactly to match that background Brigador game (1600x900). Then i quit that Brigador game and to be 100% sure i'm not a few pixels out i need to record a few seconds of footage, and maybe further adjust the TDU screen until it is perfectly 1600x900.
I'm looking for a way to launch TDU from the Project Paradise Launcher so that initial TDU screen is 1600x900 (so it launches like that Brigador screen) and not the default window you see in the screenshot. I hope this is more clear now 🙂

So i use Project Paradise to get windowed mode (and 'unlock settings') to be able to get a windowed 1600x900 display within my 1920x1080 screen ( i have monitoring tools and recording software taking up the other space outside the 1600x900 TDU window).
Is there anyway to get the Project Paradise launch window (for when you click 'Start') to open at a set resolution? It opens the TDU game screen in a window that looks about 1024x768 (basically pretty small) and i have to stretch it to make it bigger (and hope i can hit 1600x900 exactly!).
It's rather cumbersome and not related to the resolution choice you make in the game menu. Now many games have a config file of some description where you can enter things like launch window resolution etc (Bethesda games have .ini files for this for example) and i wondered if anyone knew where that might be for the window Project Paradise launches after clicking start? Or is there another trick i could maybe use to get the windowed screen of TDU (it is the modded Platinum version) to always start at exactly 1600x900 and not the small screen i have to stretch and fiddle around with to hit an actual 1600x900 sized window?
The system i currently use is to launch another windowed game that DOES give an exact 1600x900 windowed screen, then launch TDU (via Project Paradise) and use the windows key to get on the desktop to click-drag the TDU game screen to match the other game underneath. Then i exit the other game, record a few seconds of footage (using Dxtory) then check the recorded footage is actually 1600x900 and not for example 1598x903 etc.
There must be a way to force the initial window that Project Paradise launches to be exactly 1600x900 (or another resolution of choice etc)?

Install Guide: Setting up TDU's graphic options for best effect:
So since i discovered the Platinum Mod and by extension TDU i have been through a process of trial and error to get the best out of the game on my system.
    My System Specs:
    CPU: i5 3350P 3.1Ghz
    RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz
    GPU: 4GB 1050 Ti
Game installed on HDD (not SSD).
Screen: a native 1920x1080 flat screen TV @60Hz
    In game graphic settings:
    Resolution: 1600x1024
    Refresh Rate: 60Hz
    Anti-Aliasing: 4x
    HDR: (on) Brightness = Max
    Level of Details = High
    Nvidia Control Panel Settings:
I set these for both the Project Paradise Launcher.exe and the Test Drive Unlimited.exe (just to be sure nothing is missed).
    Ansiotropic filtering: 16x
    Antialiasing - FXAA = on
Antialiasing - Gamma correction = on
Antialiasing - Mode = Enhance the application setting
    Antialiasing - Setting = 8x
Antialiasing - Transparency = Multisample (on my system using Supersampling introduces flickering artifacts on distant objects)
Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA) = on
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias = Clamp
Texture filtering - Quality = High Quality
    Triple buffering = on
    Vertical sync = Adaptive
All other settings not mentioned are left at default settings.
    Project Paradise Launcher:
    Windowed = on
    Unlock Settings (Windowed) = on
    Vsync = on
HD = on (as i use the 'HD300' graphic enhancements from the HawaiianBliss v4.0 mod).
    Fuel = on
    Big .bnk = on
    -----------------------
With those settings when i launch the game via the Project Paradise Launcher i get a small(ish) window on my native 1920x1080 display. I normally run my games windowed as i have some utilities that i run to monitor performance and hardware and provide recording etc. So on the right of the screen i have Piriforms Speccy to monitor a range of hardware temps (from CPU to GPU and HDD/SSD), then below that GPU-Z to monitor the GPU in detail, then at the bottom a 'detatched' section from the MSI afterburner software to show graphs for FPS, CPU usage and RAM usage. I also use Riva Tuner part of MSI Afterburner to set an FPS cap of 60.
I also run DXtory and use that to display FPS on screen when running a game (and to record any footage if i choose etc).
So with that right section of the screen occupied i take the TDU screen that Project Paradise launches and drag it to the top left of the screen space, then using the 'windows' key to get out of the TDU screen and carefully select and drag the games window down and to the right to take up the available space and keep my game monitoring software in view. It looks like this:
    https://i.imgur.com/5tLDfKX.jpg
    https://i.imgur.com/5Z3Iq42.png
As for the general settings above i spent the last few months working out what worked best. Setting the resolution in game to 1920x1080 and running it windowed gave it lots of ugly jaggies, even with all the Antialiasing i threw at it. So for Windowed mode it is best to set an in-game resolution less than your display resolution and simply drag the window to fit what you want.
With the HD300 pack from HawaiianBliss v4.0 mod i mostly get a solid 60FPS (keep in mind I cap the game to that) with just the occaisonal dip into the 50's.
Hopefully this guide will aid those looking to get the best out of how TDU can look 🙂
