    The Nissan 350 Z Coupe seems to have issues changing it's Binocular settings in game. It saves it ok in the TDUF editor (and changes the value for the other 350 Z options, like Nissamo etc), but in game it does not change the view like it does in the Alpha i posted pics for. All the other cars i've tried so far have also worked, just not the Nissan for some reason?

    Edit: RE that Nissan 350 Z coupe.

    OK for some reason TDUF changes the car view from what is normaly 'cockpit' (as you choose one car type after another) to 'Hood' view. I've been through about 20 cars and it only seems to do this for that Nissan out of those others. So what happens when you pick the Nissan the values you get for 'Binoculars' are under the Hood view not the cockpit. So after chosing that car in TDUF, check that the view is on 'cockpit' before changing Binocular values.

    Once that is done the changes work as expected (and 16720/16730 works well for this car also as it has working mirrors in the cockpit view).

    Sorry if I reappear this late.

    Nice to see that also someone else experimented with the values.

    I wanted to change it because I am used to do so in sim racing, and if I wanted to give it a go in using the wheel again in TDU, I wanted to set the correct FOV based on my monitor setup.

    Hi milli (and everyone that can help me)  i really like this mod but i'm having a big issue that it seems no one has it and i can't play this mod

    The thing is that some cars in rental and dealers won't appear visually so i can't buy it. Also as they don't appear in dealers they won't  appear in races neither so i can't  start them forcing me to close the game.

    I can't play this mod and i can't find a solution for this (run as administrator, big.bnk activated) none of the options that were said worked for me.

    This bug really ruins the experience and it's really sad.

    Thanks in advance

    [i'm new to this mod (not the game)]

    Seems like a problem with the mod files. Start again with a clean TDU install and, after, a clean install of the mod, caring of following all the instruction perfectly.

    re headtracking, use OPENTRACK  https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/releases  to convert VR HMD yaw, pitch & roll to TrackIR which TDU supports natively.

    Or you can

    (1) buy https://edtrackerpro.mybigcommerce.com/

    or

    (2)  build your own cheap headtracker  with software and instructions from http://www.edtracker.org.uk/   and with an eBay or AliExpress sourced Arduino Compatible Pro Micro (ATMega 32U4) - 5V/16MHz and a 5 volt MPU-9250 sensor.  (MPUs 9150 and non-magnetometer variant 6050 will also work) ***

    Again,  use OPENTRACK to convert the EDTRACKER 3-axis joystick output format to TrackIR format.

    Game works well in Nvidia 3D Vision, especially with an edTracker.

    I tried it on my VR HMD, running the VR HMD as  the primary display in extended multi-monitor mode (ie SteamVR Direct mode DISABLED; HMD is treated as just a generic monitor, not a special display device), using ReShade effects "SuperDepth3D"  and "Polynomial Barrel Distortion for HMDs"   https://github.com/BlueSkyDefender/Depth3D/tree/master/Shaders   https://reshade.me/    https://github.com/crosire/reshade/releases ,  but is unstable as the d3d9.dll on TDUPE is custom and is overwritten by the also customised ReShade d3d9.dll  - works fine if you use the original Atari TDU. Game is pretty flat (2D) though using ReShade Depth3D, but the car interiors work well.

    I will save this guide for a later use.

    Thank you!

    How to make it compatible for VR?

    I have Oculus DK2 and want to make it run 😛

    I installed Vorpx and only can use it with TDU without platinum. Because Vorpx say that need to delete d3d9.dll...

    Being a dx9 game, it should be possible with 3rd party software, but don't expect head traking in game... Try lookin' for VR softwares for game without native support on google. I used TriDef 3d for some experiments' but my hardware wasn't up to the task.

    This guy get it working with head tracking. But the video is not in english, even I cannot understand what he's saying.

    His name was given by original TDU devs, so was his "behaviour trait".  All i did was tell the bots to hit 100% of the gas when accelerating and to take corners at a speed value of 1,05 i believe, before this value were like, 0,85 or such.

    Also, watch out for Douglas, he drives a F1 LM, he's also quick. Lol

    Met Douglas in the "Ring of Speed" race.

    While I was able to keep all the others A class car behind in corners, he was a no go. Every time I see him on the star line of that race, I quit and restart it. With a B class in unbeatable.

    There is not a fix, and that happens because traffic cars shed their invisible bits on the road. If the road is bumpy, avoid driving behind them might solve your problem.

    Good to know, since I have this problem in a hitchhiker mission. It stays on 90, but it lose some 0.something that doesn't give me the perfection.

    I'll try that, even if on hitchhiker missions, with time limit, it will be harder.

    Interesting! Imo that's why when reverse-engineering, I had to guess in Cameras.bin how many bits are used for this or that (and whether they're signed or not...); since most of cameras settings are 16bit encoded, I assumed that would be the same for Binoculars (0..65535, or -32768..32767).

    According tou your findings, it seems that only last 8bits are relevant.

    e.g

    (16b decimal) => binary

    16697    0100 0001 0011 1001 DEFAULT
    16675    ‭0100 0001 0010 0011‬ + ZOOM

    16650    ‭0100 0001 0000 1010‬
    10000    ‭0010 0111 0001 0000‬

    and now, if we'd only keep relevant, last 8bits:

    (binary => 8b decimal unsigned)

    0011 1001 => 57
    0010 0011‬ => 35

    0000 1010‬ => 10
    0001 0000‬ => 16.

    So, first 8bits must have effect on another view setting... hard to guess...

    Anyway, this conversation may be continued in TDUF thread or new dedicated topic about Cameras.bin research. 🤓

    Good, In the next hours I will open a new thread about cameras.

    But, to correct you, all numbers are relevant. I obtained good results (similar to 16675) using 10000. It means that every numbers or so, the FOV cicles.

    It might be related to some per-camera view settings in game files (although cameras.bin is not fully supported, and may never be...)

    When I wrote cameras editor in TDUF, I was helped by a russian (I guess) tool, translated into english. Some view settings were named after 'binoculars' 🤔, others have still unknown effects.

    So you should try change such values in TDUF and see what happens. Good luck...

    Not that i know of.

    The questioon rised when, driving the Lotus Exige S, I noticed that the FOV of that car was much narrower than any other car I driven before.

    So I will try to play a bit with the settings of TDUF. Maybe I will be able to find the exact setting and, even, make a comparison between the effect it has to the actual FOV values.

    EDIT/UPDATE

    Looks like @Djey was right. Binoculars is, indeed, the value that controls the FOV of the game. I've tried messing with the visual of "Ferrari LaFerrari", and got curious results. You need just small variation to the value to obtain relevant results, and going more that 100 units at a time breaks the FOV or simply starts all over again (obtained similar results with 16650 and 10000, for example).

    Now I need to now how to relate the "binoculars" value to actual FOV degrees units. If someone has an idea, pleas share. Maybe I will create a dedicated post in the mod section, since this matter was never talkend in the forum about TDU, but just TDU 2 (that has a little mods that does the job)

    Here's the results I got messing with it:

    Spoiler

    Here's with the default value of 16697:

    WAxgqsa.jpg

    And this is with a value of 16675:

    hey, anybody got an issue when you alt+tab the game and it goes black screen in windowed mode but you can still hear the game sounds?

    also, there's a problem when i was cruising way ahead of my opponents when racing in Tour of the Island and suddenly the game drops to 13 fps and won't go back to normal.

    my specs :

    intel i5-8300H

    GTX 1050

    8gbs of RAM

    running on Windows 10

    You can't alt-tab the game when using full screen. You need to play it in windowed mode, and use Borderless Gaming to put it back to fullscreen.

    - Re-ordered the days, so fog weather won't be displayed so often when you start the game.

    Wait a second... When I start the game, I always start with the sunrise in a nice day. And the progression is always the same. I encounter foggy weather only when I play for more than 3 hours.

    Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers work out of the box with TDU, so if you mean an xpadder or something profile you don't need it. Something a lot of people don't realize at first though is when binding the axis controls (throttle, brake, steering, ect) you need to hold the axis until the game asks you to release it.

    Wait. Do they? I always had to map my original XBOX 360 controller when playing TDU. I don't think TDU recognize the 360 controller out of the box, is still a 2007 game...

    Can't check at the moment, sorry.

    The race is SPEED03.IGE. I opened the file with an hex editor, and the name match. Unfortunately...

    Never heard of anyone doing that. And there is no tool to make sense of the gibberish in the file.

    ... I wasn't able, even with the name of the race and the code, to find it in the savefiles. The only things left to do is to redo all the stuff again, trying not to use a no traffick cheat, that is the only one that seems to work.

    Try to replace the IGE folder again, if it doesn't work, i don't know then.

    I already knew it, but tried anyway. It doesn't work.

    Simply because, IMHO, the problem is whithin my save file, and not the game files.

    That's why I will directly ask. There is anyone that knows how to edit a savefile? I think that if I'm able to reset that "record" to the race, then it will not crash.

    The fact is that in the past 2 weeks I grind all the tedious challenges first. And I don't want to do them all over again... I don't want to resort to cheats to recover all the lost progress. Even if I'm able to find a working cheats.

    EDIT: What's the code for this race in the IGE folder? Maybe if I decode that file, I could be able to track it in my savefile.

  14. PROBLEM, and this time I'm all out of ideas.

    I completed this speed challenge (160 mph with intense traffic, I hope the english title is the same) and all the other speed challenges. Got my reward car. and headed to complete all the other challenges. But, I find myself with the race resetted. Not a problem, I say to my self. But the game crash when I try to enter it, both from the map and from the map and the free roam.

    29z90no.jpg

    I went to check the clear list. THe achievement for speed is cleared, but the total count of races miss this one. Meaning that I will not be able to obtain the achievemt for all golds.

    I went checking the record list, and this is what it shows me.

    fjmiwz.jpg

    Seems like the savegame got corrupted for this race in particular, and now it can't load it since the record is completely off the scale.

    Any chance to reset the record for this race? Or I have to resort to my last savegame backup from 2 weeks ago? Please tell me there is an easy solution, even with an HEX editor for my save files.

  15. Seen some discussion abouts mods and ethic.

    I want to share my experience in the modding community of another game, rFactor.

    I'm a 3D artist, and was inspired on this path by the modding community of rFactor, that has strict rules: You can only upload mods that are completely made by you. Stolen 3D models are not accepted on official community, but can only be found on third party small websites. You cannot take a model from Forza and put it on Racedepartment or Driving Italia, for example. And this is true for any sim game. rFactor, rFactor 2, Assetto Corsa and all the others.

    Same thing about using other modders work. You cannot edit or use the work of another modder without his/hers approval.

    That's the ethic I've been used to.

    But then, there is also the matter that putting real cars in a sim racing game without the license of the manufacturer is also not totally ethical and legal... Technically, all of Formula 1 mods for rFactor should't exist, but they do and nobody cares about licenses. Luckily.

    Yes, but even if i get bad traffic in corners i have enough time to slow down. Since it is topic here i drove the track approx 10 times and there was not a single try where i had problems with it. I  also could have 2-3 crashes and its still not a problem if you are able to drive fast on the straights. And if you have traffic on ALL corners, than i would call it bad luck ^^

    Until now there wasn't any single race where i had any problems.

    Well, maybe you are more skilled than me and the others who have problems. Or maybe you are driving a much faster car.

    I was using an R32 with level 2 tuning, and using no driving assit with a controller.

    Techically, I always was fast enough to beat the challenge, or I was just a few seconds away from it. But the penaly really made it harder on me, so that I won by far on a very luck run, where I encountered traffic only on straights and a couple of large corners.

  17. 18 hours ago, Sil3nc3r- said:

    The Challenge isn't luck based, you just have to drive properly. Just drive on the side of the street (left and right) and not in the middle, or at least not the whole time.

    I may do a video of it, not sure if its helpful.

    Err... yes it is. Traffic spawns randomly during the course. If you get a run where it always spawn in blind fast corners, forcing you to slow down, or in proximity of intersections, with the AI car turing without the blink, then you are screwed.

    But if it spawns only on straights, where you can easily avoid it, then you are in for a stellar time.
