  1. Here's a list (care of the fine chaps at the BBC) of teams and their drivers Yes there is Force India, Aguri didn't survive http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/drivers_and_teams/default.stm
  2. OK Last year I gave up posting in F1 threads as they just became a silly 'playground' of 'my driver is better than your driver' type arguements ... which I don't agree with ... but I do agree with commenting about how well or badly a driver/team has done ... for the record this season I will be supporting Hamilton and McLaren but I'd also like Button in the Brawn or Vettel in the Red Bull to do well ... but I will call them Muppets if they are So can we have it a bit more civilised this year chaps and chapesses ? I would like to suggest a single thread for each race event ... appropriately titled ... e.g. F1 2009 Melbourne and then that can cover the whole weekend .. simple Hybrid
  3. Well if you mean how good will Brawn GP will be rather than Honda ... well the first clue is in the new name for the team ... they have possibly THE BEST team strategist ... and also there is a top bloke called Fry there too ... I do think Brawn GP and Red Bull (because of some bloke called Newey) could be the teams to watch this season ... especially with the reset that has effectively happened because the cars bear no relation to the ones from last season.
  4. Well I'm glad FOTA (Formula One Teams Association ... well I think that's the acronym meaning) have managed to argue with the FIA that the scoring change was illegal for this season ... not enough warning / discussion on the matter ... so normal and sensible service resumes ... for this season at least ... supposedly FOTA put the counter suggestion of increasing the points awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and in turn increasing the points gap between those places. As has already been pointed out using the most number of wins scheme would mean that someone could win the championship on the first race after mid season (I won't put a number there as Bernie keeps on adding and removing races too !) So for me why would I watch the rest of the season if the Drivers championship has been won ... OK I'm a McLaren supporter (not a fan boy tho) but I don't care as much about which team wins a championship as much as which driver does. I noticed due to the Forum 'hiccup' my previous post has been lost to the 'ether' so I'll add this ... the BBC had an interesting article regarding the points change and they showed what seasons would have been changed ... Moss would have won a championship, Mansell would have won 3 instead of 1 ... but then in recent history (most probably the only bit when most of this forums members would have watched) only one season would have been effected and that was last season where Massa would have beaten Hamilton ... and why is this the case ? Well for the recent history they did change the points scheme to give more of a differential for the higher placed drivers As so back to my point that I'd previously made ... and a great engineering ethos "why fix it if it ain't broke"
  5. SOMEBODY ... not just SOMEBODY ... t'was me dear sir !
  6. Pre-Season testing is difficult to read ... some people will be developing cars, some will be testing fuel loads, aero packs, KERS, tyres, suspension set-ups, testing race distance reliability So although it looks promising for Brawn for the first race and I'd dearly love them to be with the 'big boys' I'll leave my closing comment as this Nothing Counts until the first race has been run ... then we'll know where everyone stands
  7. On any new Alfa Romeo you can get it painted in the same metallic red as the 8C ... for ONLY £15,500 !
  8. You mean into a BMW ... The correct answer is 17 women rugby players in a Mini
  9. Well I'm undecided on this ... I agree with the fact that the drive who wins the most should win ... but also it's a CHAMPIONSHIP and so consistency over the season should count for something the BBC has done an interesting article listing all the results that would have changed over the years ... Mansell would have won 2 more Championships ! ... the reason why he didn't was that he always out drove the car and if he didn't win, he often broke the car ! Oh and my closing point ... and a great engineering philosophy ... "if it ain't broke why fix it"
  10. A car can only be called a Convertible if the roof converts ... An Atom doesn't have a roof ... However you have FAILED with a Caterham ... as it does
  11. OK a few for you all ... starting with some Mini ones (proper Mini of course) - You can fit five 6' guys in a proper Mini - If you go over 80mph in a proper Mini with the windows open (including the flap open ones at the back) the car starts to lift - a Mini can beat a Mustang around Brands Hatch ... if the track is wet ! one from life ... - The gearstick in a Fiat 126 unscrews (a girl proved this while she was driving it some from work ... - A Dashboard isn't called a Dashboard it's an Instrument Panel - there is a test for cars called an 'Idiot Start'
  12. God you lot make me feel old ... :crying: And since when did the thread get renamed "Show yourself or your other half!" As a lot of you might have wondered what I look like ... Here's a pic of me out for a sunday drive in the Alfa
  13. Resident of Evil 5 - Can't comment as shooters aren't my thing Midnight club LA;) - Played it for 2 hours when I bought it and haven't played it since ... absolutely terrible game with one of the worst physics engines / car handling / collision detection / camera angles known to mankind ... was hoping it was going to be GTA physics/handling in a Need for Speed world ... but it isn't Test Drive Unlimited;) - Possibly THE best general driving game ever invented ... great for just picking up and going for a drive for a bit ... races were OK too but after a while you realise the racing is just a tiny part of the game and not what makes the game great ... lets just hope they realise that for TDU2 Street Fighter 2 HD Remix - supposedly a great version of SF ... I was a Tekken arcade ace tho and so haven't really played the SF series COD WAW (possibly) - Very good ... played the demo ... if you like FPS you can't go wrong with the latest CoD Hope you enjoy the 360
  14. yeah a BMW Maxi ... sorry Mini is like so not a heterosexual male car Oh and a DBS Volante is for rich women too ... Bond wouldn't drive one
  15. sorry to see you struck out with the rings again good to hear MS are still honouring the fact that the machines are fundamentally flawed
  16. Just bring on the Fleetwood Mac ! So looking forward to F1 minus the adverts
  17. thanks for all those who participated ... I've now done my circuit of the island so the competition is finished
  18. LeetPix - I guess you mean an Aston Martin Lagonda from 76-91 and not the Original Lagonda Oh and I think an Aston Martin Lagonda is pretty cool ... not pretty ... but definitely cool ... any car of that era with a touch button dash has to be cool Koenig - well I'm an engineer and not a stylist (or a 'felt tip fairy' as I've heard them called a few times) ... so I get to try and work out how to get the metal to work properly underneath the silly shapes that stylists come up with
  19. Well it's Fry and Brawn, so should do well ... and as I've said the cars are radically different to last year so Ferrari, McLaren etc (last years front runners) won't have the evolutionary advantage of previous seasons. Personally I still want McLaren and Lewis to win ... But I also think Red Bull could be the team to pull a few surprises ... as Newey finally gets to play properly
  20. Well as prayed for/expected Honda F1 Team has survived in another form ... Brawn GP http://www.brawngp.com/index.php Looking forward to the 09 season ... could be a lottery with the amount of changes to all the cars
  21. More Rules : 10. if I drive off the road through my own bad driving it won't count 11. if I'm on a bit of road or a bridge with barriers both sides, tough you'll have to wait to ram me off the road ... but there's not too much of it on my planned route 12. once I've completed my route that's it ... yeap I have a rout planned ... it's about 120-130 miles (does that sound familiar ?) 13. if I'm in a different car to the Pontiac I've not started or I've finished 14. I will not be accepting 'locks' from anyone 15. if a server is full ... tough 16. if you do find me on the map can you declare that you're in the game So select your car carefully (remember that's what I want to buy from you) ... and hopefully see you online
  22. Thanks Speed for putting in the poll My choice was obvious tho As to the other 'Miss'es ... well it's usual for all stands to have girls at every motor show ... but it is normally the case that the Italian brands do find the nicest women ... oh and from past experience Citroen is normally a pleasing stand too (when I go to motor shows with mates we aleays work out various 'awards' ... car of the show etc ... one of them is best eye-candy)
