The limited edition Lamborghini – just 250 will be built – is named after famous test-driver and Lamborghini ambassador Valentino Balboni.
And according to Balboni’s specifications, the gorgeous Gallardo sends its power to the rear wheels, becoming the first rear-wheel drive Gallardo built.
The Balboni edition Lamborghini boasts a 5.2-litre V10 engine developing 550bhp, which is just 10bhp shy of the range-topping Gallardo LP560-4.
But because Balboni ditches the four-wheel drive system, this Gallardo becomes the lightest model in the range, and as such is the second fastest production Gallardo money can buy.
The 0-62mph sprint takes 3.9 seconds (3.7s for the LP560-4) and the Balboni Gallardo will top 199mph on a derestricted road.
Lamborghini has re-tuned the springs, dampers, stabilisers and aerodynamics, with the ESP system allowing “greater drift angles”. Which is very good if you ask us…
Each LP550-2 comes with a badge bearing Balboni’s signature and the car’s production number.
Valentino Balboni has helped shape numerous Lamborghini models, including the famous Lamborghini Miura and the Murcielago. Since 1973, he has sat at the wheel of every prototype built by the brand.
Lamborghini London is offering the limited edition Valentino Balboni Gallardo for £154,950, which comes with sat-nav, the ‘Travel Pack’ and carbon ceramic brakes.
