  1. I've been adding new 30cm texture mods recently to make the world detail look even better. The creator has his own site that links to his mods over here: http://sites.google.com/site/aimecreations/freeware-fsx Hope this helps. Might have to setup a mile-high cruise one day :D
  2. Don't be afriad to experiment with the values. You've got backups of the original, and the mods are still online here. Make the TimeScale smaller to speed things up - i.e. 10. If I've got it around the wrong way, make it 100. The game default is 50. I don't even have this mod installed, so I don't know what value it is using.
  3. Looks great - just need a sound mod to go with it now. I wonder if anyone knows how to convert them from NFS Shift.
  4. It's an alright start. What software are you using to edit the video? Here's one that I've done in case it gives you any tips/inspiration. I'd be happy to help you further with this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQnMK-PIbjc
  5. I prefer Fraps, but GameCam offers compression on the fly if I'm not mistaken. However, compressing on the fly requires a much faster PC capable of very high FPS. It's easier and cheaper to increase your HDD space than it is to upgrade everything else. I have a 2TB drive that only stores Recorded TV and Fraps footage (and it's nearly full, need to sort through it and delete out-takes).
  6. The TimeScale one. It's about 11 lines from the top.
  7. Lasts about 3-4 hours I think. I was playing it all day last week, and after about 6 hours it had gone from foggy (morning) to mid-day and back to foggy (evening) again. You can change the timescale by editing a number in the WeatherDesc.ini file in your FX folder.
  8. Looks alright. I'm not sure about the night pics though, since some of the objects still look like there's a massive flood light shining on them when you drive past (reminds me of NFS II SE in night mode). :) If you want to change how quickly the weather changes, go into the FX folder, open up 'WeatherDesc.ini' and checge the value for TimeScale (the 11th line).
  9. Looking really good. Would be cool if someone could make a snow-mobile mod to replace the Triumph motorbike.
  10. 'Crash Time III' is a game that is based on the German Autobahn, and not half bad. It's on Steam for $20. I played it and recommend it.
  11. It's an Instant Messenger program that works inside games. Press a key combination and it overlays in your games so that you don't have to Alt+Tab to talk to others. It has a few other functions as well. http://www.xfire.com
  12. Fair enough. One last suggestion, is to create a boolean variable such as 'blnSaved' and set it to false when any changes are made, and change it to true when the 'Save Performance Data' menu item is pressed. If it is false when the user tries to exit, give them a prompt asking if they are sure they want to quit without saving. I've forgotten to do it a few times now :) Might be better off having buttons at the bottom right of the window, independent of the tabs: 'Close' & 'Save and Close' That's just my suggestions. I'm on xfire if you'd rather keep this thread clean.
  13. Makes sense. I've already restored a backup (I have the whole TDU Program Files location backed up just in case). I'd change the following to prevent others doing the same: 1. Tell users to backup DB.bnk AND DB_US.bnk 2. Assign the blank ID number to the string value of "" (when the SubModel field is blank - I wouldn't want to come looking here for the ID number that I have to paste in). 3. If someone changes the submodel from "" to 'something', automatically carete/assign a new unused ID number. If #3 isn't possible, I'd just change the submodel to a drop-down list-box. Hope this helps
  14. I'm pretty sure it's the submodel field that's causing all the issues. If I type 'GTI' as the Submodel - all cars in game show up as 'GTI', unless the car already has its own submodel.
  15. Ok, so I load one car, change the drive and gearbox type, click Save, then click the Car Name tab, chenge it, click Save. Select another car, click load, and repeat. Some cars still have the correct names in TDUPE, but show the incorrect name in game. When blanking out the Submodel text name, clicking the Save button generates an unhandled exception. I'm also a programmer by hobby, (probably not as skilled as yourself), but am able to beta test where required. Thanks.
  16. Hi Dredgy - thanks for the mod - the Golf GTI is much better in FWD than 4WD. I've run into a bit of a problem though. All of my cars (or 90% of them) get renamed to the last car I modify. Yesterday, they were all 'Golf GTI' (removing the R32 bit since I have a mod). Now they're all 'Ford GT', after making a small adjustment today. Reverting the original DB.bnk file doesn't help (I'm guessing the names are in DB_US.bnk?, in which case I'll get it from my brothers PC). Anyone else familiar with this problem and know of a quick fix? It's pretty hard choosing the car you want from the garage list when they're all named the same.
  17. This photo meets two criteria as well:
  18. Step by Step: 1. Go to C:\Program Files\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk 2. Select Vehicules and press Ctr+C 3. Press Ctrl+V to make a backup of the original cars in case you wish to remove a mod 4. Go into the Vehicules folder 5. Replace car files with the ones you download from here. 6. If a mod contains wheel rims, replace the files in Vehiclues\Rims\[car brand name] 7. Go in game and select the car that was replaced with a mod If the game crashes when you pick the new car, you haven't installed the Magic Map.
  19. A few of us from the official TDU Europe forums contributed our fav's from the 'TDU Desktop Wallpaper' thread to make this Windows 7 Themepack file. You can download the pack from here, double-click on it to install it. The Desktop Wallpaper thread is here if you want to take a look at the pics. Thanks to Bimmer, Pogostickio, Dustwave, Andreaz, Andrius, Kelvyj and others who contributed pics.
  20. Why should Lambo care? I've seen so many real life photos of them burning IRL let along in games - even featured on TopGear last season :) There's no Ferrari's in Shift, and since it's a racing game, you could say I miss them a bit. There a plenty of cars we already miss in TDU though. NFS 3 and 4 had Ferrari's, but you couldn't choose them in a Hot Pursuit race - probably along the same line of reasoning as damage (although if I recall correctly NFS 4 had damage, Ferrari's included). TDU2 would be best off not having Ferrari's to start off with, then add them later on without damage so that other companies hopefully don't complain. Anyway, I'm off to install NFS4 now so I can smash some Ferrari's up :D
  21. Car games with damage usually = car games without Ferrari's. If they wanna be pompous, just make the Ferrari's indestructable and only allow them to be driven in H mode to try and stop the n00bs who like crashing into others. Problem solved.
  22. I think Shift is by far the best NFS game I've played in years. It's the first NFS game that I can actually use my G25 with and enjoy the physics (thanks to SMS I guess). They just need to make sure they keep these physics for their free-roam/police chase games. Undercover would've been much better if it had the cockpit views and physics from Shift. Here's a replay I filmed yesterday:
