  1. Ah, the primitive form of game distribution for consoles known as the "disc." How quaint! :cheeky: Steam user. Pre-loading and midnight releases. ;) -Leadfoot
  2. For the benefit of Europeans (who probably won't be impressed by that), I'd like to explain that Silverados can really haul ass. It may not do it with much finesse, but there is something impressive about a giant truck doing that - and likely up a muddy hill in the middle of winter. -Leadfoot
  3. Welcome to TDUCk! :welcome: Unfortunately, Atari will never fix it. Atari only released one patch (which hardly fixed anything), and that was after the game had been out a year and a half. But remember, TDU was right at the dawn of the "massively open online" scene, so this sort of thing was an issue. Also, it usually takes a while for people to show up, and they only show up where the cursor is in the map screen. One of TDU's biggest issues was that you could never see the actual amount of players online, even if you looking at their position on the map. TDU's a four-year-old game, so we just have to deal with stuff like this. It could always be one of those periods of limited connectivity, which happen now and again and should go away after a day or two. Like I said, TDU's a four-year-old game, so TDU2's bound to be heaps better in terms of online integration. But welcome to TDUCk, and hopefully you'll still be able to enjoy the game (and TDU2 when it comes out). :) -Leadfoot
  4. Okay, you're right. But two nearly identical 599 GTO's in one city? Impressive. That's the first thing that I looked for, but I don't recall Alex posting a rear shot of the GTO he saw. -Leadfoot
  5. I beg to differ. Your pic was thought out, during the daytime, and properly adjusted. The paparazzi pic is at night, high up, and with a flash. If it's the grill, and wheels your pointing out, they're the same. As for the darker side skirt, that's probably a trick of the light. -Leadfoot
  6. Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that (I do remember seeing that when I first used the configurator, now that you mention it). So maybe the L4P thread was about a clear-coat wrap or something (I would find it, but the site is down at the moment). Yeah, that's the other reason. -Leadfoot
  7. Had to tell you this, as that's a nice pic, but the theme this PoTW is "large luxury sedans." I don't think the Celica qualifies. Sorry. -Leadfoot
  8. Isn't it always? ;) Welcome to the TDUCk! From what I've seen online/in ads, the Canary Islands look amazing. :) Looks like a nice place to live! -Leadfoot
  9. Voted Austin. Reaper was a close second. This is going to be really close. -Leadfoot
  10. To mod TDU you need to access the .bnk files of the game. These are available on PC, but not on the PSP version (at least, without being able to hack the PSP with developer-level tools). Also, GTPSP uses a completely different file structure for cars, including the interior, relation to driving dynamics (paths for tire movement, exhaust trails, brake glow, etc.), opening/damageable parts. It would be the equivalent of dragging a file from NFS to the TDU folder on PC - reasonable in theory, but you might as well be trying to drive a character model from Call of Duty. Hypothetically, if someone was a developer from both Sony/Polyphony and Atari/Eden and had access to the raw model files (not the .bnk's and the GTPSP equivalent, but the actual model files), the PSP would probably refuse to run it without modifications to the game's executable file (or whatever it is on PSP). So the answer, unfortunately, is a solid "no." Sorry about that. :( Still, when the PSP2 comes out, you'll probably be able to play TDU2 (or TDU3) on it. :) -Leadfoot
  11. Thanks, Hamann. This thread is a very welcome relief to the "Why no BMWPorscheLamborghini Gallardo 911 GT335i Superleggera RS M-Package?" comments. :) Thank you. My contributions: -Weather "forecasts" accessible from your house. -Active aero -Much-improved external HUDs. -The ability to walk around both your vehicle and your competitors' during the pre-race lobby. -A better story. -The way Atari/Eden kept the idea of back alleys and nooks to park your car (especially in the Ibiza cities). -The inclusion of special editions like the DBS Carbon Black and the other pre-order specials. -A working, practical method of travelling between islands. - Not delaying an identical game an additional seven months because it's on PC rather than 360! Again, great thread. Hope to see some more optimistic posts here. :) -Leadfoot
  12. The paint job is not an option (though many are). There was a special post of the step-by-step vinyl wrap process on L4P (I hate that site, but I find it very interesting to see crappy pics of brilliant cars. It's a comfortingly weird sensation), but they didn't mention the car was Evans'. -Leadfoot
  13. In my opinion, B-Spec can be awesome. Because I have dual monitors, I can have the PS3 up on one and my homework on the other. I just give Mr. Whatshisface a 900-hp Ford GT (I'm only on level three), put it in small form, tell him to maintain pace after he's passed everyone, and go back to my work. Ideal multitasking, the kind where you don't have to do the other task! :cheeky: -Leadfoot
  14. It's great to see people coming back for round two. I suspect I joined after you stopped posting so much, but still - nice to see original members returning to the TDUCk. :) -Leadfoot
  15. Nice! Is that Mk1 in your sig yours? Saw a Bentley Continental Flying Spur today. :) Was filthy, covered in salt, and it was in traffic, but still. :) -Leadfoot
  16. -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) -- Saw that video a while back. Google's marketing department didn't really get it... :cheeky: Though I guess that's the only way to attract the attention of people interested in cool-looking cars. -Leadfoot
  17. FFB is supposed to come with the next (beta) version. As for linearity, that was my first question. If it's not there, the Fanatec wheels have won the xBox battle (with their on-the-fly adjustability). -Leadfoot
  18. What's he carrying? Is that a delivery mission? -Leadfoot
  19. Beautiful! Glad to see you use it, too. :) @Ryzza: I'll take a look at that when I have the opportunity to turn on the speakers. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to my friend's Rabbit. -Leadfoot
  20. Many Jimbo's of the world saw the value in giving people a "free" car so they don't have to remove it from their lawns themselves. But I think $400 should be the minimum for a project scrapheap - free cars generally only come from people you know. But wow, Chris! You are lucky there was no need for a panic stop or any of that "die painfully" stuff. Hope you find a decent 4.0 eventually. :) -Leadfoot
  21. LED lights = Good. Well done, Atari. But please, a Spyker (like a Pagani) deserves to have its interior highlighted in something like this. :) -Leadfoot
  22. That's pretty nice - isn't there a 200% import tax for luxury items like that? -Leadfoot
