    I was trying to find car shows to hit on the way back, but ended up doing it midweek, so nothing was going on. Maybe that's for the better, though; with the clutch issue, who knows what extra stops would have done. Thanks! And I don't think I would ever be able to convince myself to buy an automatic car, at least not unless I had something manual as well. Of course, that makes it difficult when the car I'm looking for is an '80s executive GT made for cruising highways haha, but it was worth the search for a stick. :) -Leadfoot

    My own car, this time. 1986 635CSi. I picked it up in West Virginia a few weeks ago and drove it back 600 miles to Vermont. The clutch stopped disengaging halfway through, but other than that, it was fine. :eek: I absolutely love it, though. :D -Leadfoot

    Thanks. Yeah, it's a clean car. Originally from Georgia (meaning no snowy winters and no road salt), so there's no rust, and the interior is in excellent shape. And yeah, my dad won't be able to drive it without extensive modification. :( But he likes new cars better anyway (he's been skeptical of the whole process buying this one, and keeps reminding me that the '80s weren't the peak of automotive reliability haha). Yeah, I had to drive down to West Virginia (1250 miles round trip) to pick it up, but the result is that WOW is it in good shape. Final price was $5400, then plus $400 for tax/reg and another $400 in gas ( :eek: ) to get down there and back up. Not a deal, but a fair price for a car in great condition. Yeah, I love the way it drives. Feels more... competent than my friend's E30, and it's in better condition than the E28 owned by the kid across the street haha. There's something rewarding about driving a big, heavy coupe. I'd much rather switch to a Euro bumper, but it would require welding, and I'm not sure I'm ready to dive into that just yet. ;) -Leadfoot

    Yeah, I'm still in that phase too haha. I don't actually have too many pics, as the leaves aren't out yet and the car is already in for a master cylinder (not too bad, and should be out by next week). But there will be a better photoshoot/video soon. -Leadfoot

    I wanted to film something on a school snowday a couple of weeks ago, so a friend of mine and I went out on a 0-degree F (-17C) day and filmed this (him driving, me filming): I know this one isn't much, but I at least have something planned for a couple of weeks from now.     Back from Europe (was in Italy and France the last ten days - incredible stuff). Among other things, I was able to finally see the countries where some members here live. Very awesome and enlightening. As an aside, several cool cars were spotted (a few of which I will post here). More to come later! Whoa. -Leadfoot

    About James' segment in the most recent episode... As someone who has driven a 2013 Range Rover off road (a couple months before it was released, I should add), I'm very surprised it won (although I suspect that had more to do with Top Gear and Range Rover sharing a home country than that vehicle's offroad capabilities). You have to go very slowly over rocky ground like that, and although the thing can basically drive itself over those patches, it only does so at under 10 mph. A hugely impressive vehicle, though. -Leadfoot

    Oh, it is. It's awesome, actually. You just occasionally get comments from tourists saying how quaint and old fashioned things are, and you remember that this wacky and weird and friendly place is where we Vermonters live. :D Yeah, it is nice. And yeah, you're right about them being called valet keys. It's just that I work at an exclusive club and we see the same people every day for a couple of hours, so they just hand us their complete keychains. All I was saying about that GT-R is that once it depreciates to the point that the Supra has, people will pick a car like that (one that has been used as a car instead of as a garage ornament) as their example for how cheap GT-Rs are. It's like how people point out how cheap salvage-title Lotus Elises are, only somewhat less dramatic. -Leadfoot

I'm doing it at a ski resort, though, so a fair share of the vehicles are people's ski cars (in other words, the Escalades they only use at their second homes). We get a few fast things, though, as I mentioned. ;) I consider myself responsible, but I've worked with a range of people and have firmly decided not to have my own car valeted if I can help it. :whistle: Meh, no one where I work uses them (although that's partly due to the fact that we see the same people every day and know everyone by name). You New Yorkers must think Vermont to be so quaint and serene. :cheeky: -Leadfoot

    A local business owner around where I live mounted a trailer hitch to his RUF RGT Cabrio (yes, they didn't make one - it was one of two custom jobs done in California) and uses it for his road bikes. As for that Civic, that looks to have a number of Mugen bits... :hmmm: That car will probably end up being one of those posted on forums as "proof" that GT-R prices are declining. Although that said, those things will probably end up being the MkIV Supra of 2025. ------------------------------------- It's been a while since I've posted here, but I'll give you a quick list of some of the stuff I've gotten to drive during my weekend job as a valet: Kahn-modified Range Rover 2012 S4 (lowered on coilovers, exhaust work, reflash) Cayenne Turbo A8L (lots) Range Rovers (lots) Mercedes S550 Designo (comparable to BMW's "Individual" line) Cayennes (lots) ^Most, if not all, of these are 2012s or 2013s. There are also tons of Escalades, Suburbans, and Denalis - EVERYONE has one, to the point where they will get into the wrong car if we bring up two at a time. Plus there's all the stuff that passes by which I didn't drive: Hummer H1 and H2, lifted F-350 King Ranch, and some other cool stuff. :D -Leadfoot

I've driven so many of those things (and Suburbans/Denalis) at my job - boats, but they're so lacking in build quality and driving sensation that they're just silly to drive.     Sad as it may be, the next generations of the Vantage and Gallardo will probably not have manuals. They are dying, but they're not dead yet. At least it does support my dream of not buying anything built after 2005 (although certain cars will do until 2007). :cheeky: -Leadfoot
