  1. Is it bad that those look really cool to me? -Leadfoot
  2. Settle down, people... It might not be so bad. If it is, they can always fix it in a patch. Oh, wait... But seriously, relax. Maybe they'll change it if they hear our complaints. -Leadfoot
  3. Haha, racing for pinks! That's awesome! :D Hey, Ryzza, want to... not race that mode? :p -Leadfoot
  4. The detail shots (like the first one) are especially nice! -Leadfoot
  5. They might be ornamental, I'm afraid. It would be an interesting idea (and useful, because I was annoyed in TDU at the surprising lack of "special paint" for certain vehicles), but I'm not seeing any difference in the bars from the Italia pics to the SLS pics. :( EDIT: @Camryt: Call them what you will, but that's business - literally. The idea of a business is to "earn as much money as possible without much work." Atari is already going above the requirements, and think of the time (which, for a game developer, equals some degree of cost) involved in creating a feature like you mentioned. Take 900-degree steering animation; after all, it took TDU's modders ages to make the wheel not run into the character's hands. Wipers, too, are an uneven balance of effort and reward; they're different for each car, and the paths of individual water droplets (which are probably random and speed-sensitive anyway) have to have their own algorithms for behavior - otherwise it would look like crap and people would complain forever. The reason people loved TDU (and already love TDU2) is because of the little things that they did include in the game, so let's not get too picky about what they didn't. :) -Leadfoot
  6. Thanks, Inspiflo! Any comment on the physics? -Leadfoot
  7. Once again you push ahead to keep TDU new and competitive with today's games. +Rep. :) -Leadfoot
  8. Very nice! Is it a slow shutter speed that blurs movement, or...? -Leadfoot
  9. Cool looking race 'Vette you've got there. :) I really like the F40 shots, too. -Leadfoot
  10. I personally think the 2CV and Beetle are ideal easter egg cars. The idea of an easter egg is not to annihilate the game (like if they were, say, a Koenigsegg Agera and an SSC Ultimate Aero II), but to add something amusing and entertaining to it that make people say laugh rather than shout "CHEATER!" and leave the server. Plus, I'm sure we could all - in a few minutes - create some fun, low-speed games to use the easter egg cars with as our own incentive to find them. :) -Leadfoot
  11. Holy massive wheels, Batman! Impressive stable, though. And every SLR pic is just  . -Leadfoot
  12. That is a beautiful shot, SB! +Rep for that! -Leadfoot
  13. He's not allowed to, but he is. -Leadfoot
  14. Awesome pics of the big Bug! :D I really hope they fix the physics, because this awesome-looking game would be a huge letdown if they don't. -Leadfoot
  15. Welcome! :) Interesting history, there; I played MM2 back when it was new, but haven't in years :( (and was too early for the whole modding scene). Alarm fur Cobra was cool, too, and I got to try some of the mods for that. But Racer! Haha, I loved that one! It was such a niche game, and I never got the H-shifter to work, but I loved it anyway. :) Great so see someone else who's heard of it. As far as entering the TDU world, there is, unfortunately, very little documentation. One of the modders, Tool831, created a brief intro to importing a car that could be useful. Before you start, though, you'll need Djey's TDU Modding Tools, which allows you to open and extract from TDU's annoying .bnk files. You might also need to contact an experienced modder, but be warned - some of them are less than pleasant and short-tempered. I'm sure you can find someone to answer your questions, though. :) List of stuff: Brief Tutorial (Tool831) Djey's Modding Tools 1.68B "Community Patch" (This is not strictly necessary, but it helps out) Before you can do anything with changing files, you will need something called a "magic map" (which you may already have, depending on whether you've used mods yet), which lifts the size restrictions of the .BNK files. But that should come with several of the above automatically. :) Happy modding and good luck! :) -Leadfoot
  16. Interesting! I almost attempted something like this a few months ago, but then just got a desk instead (on the grounds that it was at least possible to do homework on it). I still find the topic very interesting, though - good luck with it! -Leadfoot
  17. Good idea, but that would throw a ratchet in their weather predictions and matching-ToD-for-all-players systems. -Leadfoot
  18. I know you're pushing the advertising, Atari (and the only other things coming out are Shift 2 and DiRT 3 and probably one more big name game), but that's one bold claim (even if you are right ;) ). Also, why is the "now" capitalized in all the boxes? And if I believe the ad, I suppose I could drive "my dream car" now (!), right? :oook: -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) -- -Leadfoot
  19. @Gingervette: Look out for - yes - riced SLR's. I've heard tell of such terrible things. -Leadfoot
  20. Very nice pics! I kind of like that gold Aston, but WOW it's expensive. -Leadfoot
  21. Nice! :D -Leadfoot
  22. The R8, Mini, and TTS ones are really nice. :) Shame the Bugatti is a standard car. :( -Leadfoot
  23. The "British Independents" shop, which also houses the McLaren F1, Caterham, Lotus (which is funny, because they're owned by Proton :p ), Ascari, as well as Farboud. :) It's in the city at the top center of the map in the normal version, and can also be found in the lower corner if you have patch 1.67d. -Leadfoot
  24. Fallout 3/Fallout: NV were both 24 minutes, if I recall. And that worked fine. :oook: It's annoying if you have a favorite lighting situation, though (IE: Sunset, or early morning, etc.), but for the most part it's fine. -Leadfoot
  25. Yes, all that detail for 60-odd horsepower and almost doing sixty. Surely those several dozen horses make up for the fact that the Bugatti Veyron is a standard car. -Leadfoot
