1. I don't think he'll mind if someone does take over the thread to be honest. At least, he hasn't posted on the forums in almost two years (can't find where it mentions his last visit). He's still alive and kicking and all that, but life and stuff. On topic, OBS doesn't do a bad job and has no performance hit that I've noticed (plus you can stream with it which is all the rage these days). Free to record and/or stream, but I've never got the video quality to be quite as good as other programs when it comes to recording. However, I can't say I've tried too much to get more out of it.
2. Looks like it has been a minute since anyone posted in here, so here is a boring video of me driving a 2016 Mini Paceman Cooper S All4. The BMW went in for its second airbag recall and an oil service so they were kind enough to give me this thing for a few hours. I'm really not a fan of the styling of new Minis at all and I couldn't wait to get back in the BMW purely so people wouldn't look at me weirdly (apart from thinking I'm a drug dealing chav) but the Mini drove quite well. New stiff suspension and presumably run-flat tyres on the Mini made the BMW feel like a Rolls Royce when I got it back though
3. None of it will happen, but: - Finally move in to my own house. Pretty fed up of certain things at home and truth be known if I could have moved out sooner I would have. - Get another job. Five years at my current one and I've never liked it (borderline hated it). Doesn't pay enough and 300 miles on the car each week before I do anything beside commuting as well as other things I'm not going to mention. - Get a girlfriend. This one plain just will not happen + I like having money ;) The one I most want to happen is to move out. I'd like to say it would then lift a huge weight off my shoulders, but then there would be many, many bills I've never had to deal with even though I do contribute money to live at home anyway.
4. Yeah, I have played it for just over a year now (joined on 22nd December 2015). Almost up to Tier 9 in a few tech trees (so just over one tier to go before I can call it quits), but I'm still an average player at best :p I've also played War Thunder (only up to the Cromwell on the British tanks), but after playing WoT so much I find it difficult to adjust to the slightly slower pace (or is it just more detailed maps?) of War Thunder so I don't tend to fair too well.
5. I'm a bit late to the party with this one, but I realised about a month ago that I've not upgraded anything on my computer in the last 4-5 years aside from an SSD and CPU watercooler, so I decided to get one of these to replace my HD7970 TwinFrozr III. Not one of the brands that everyone goes for, but after reading experiences with cards from certain companies getting too hot and setting fire in some cases and these not having any of those problems plus good reviews everywhere I looked I went for it. Additionally Zotac offer a five year warranty over the 2-3 year warranty you get from others. Amazon decided to stick a label over the front of the box with my address on (didn't send it in an Amazon box so I'm surprised it wasn't stolen on the way here), hence the Bored & Work doodle book :p It's a Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! Edition. Not fitted it yet because I'm on World of Tanks, so all could go wrong yet :p Now I've bought one they will drop in price dramatically over the next couple of days, so get your wallets out...
6. Such nice looking cars, I especially like the interiors. Had a quick look on eBay and looks like the TIs have halved in price since I last looked at them which is interesting, 2.4 JTDM's performance looks pretty much on par with my car which shows how much things move on over the course of a few years.
7. Nice colour for the M5, one of the better colour choices for sure, have fun. I keep having a naughty look at E46 M3s and E39 M5s for the occasional blast around the Welsh mountains, but I'd never have any money left running two ageing BMWs at the same time :p Audi A3 looks like it has MK7 Golf 'Dijon' alloy wheels, but I could be wrong /bearding. Two nice cars, I can't keep up with you lot around here anymore :)
8. Not as good as the photographs in the posts before me. I'm a bit of a rusty fella in the camera department these days.
9. I'm on round three of trying to get this downloaded today. I have always had more than double the hard drive space available, but the first download stopped and never restarted at 38GB, the second rather irritatingly stopped and never restarted at 45GB (4GB to go!) and now I'm up to 29GB so far. I'm determined to get this game downloaded and see what its like even though my computer probably won't run it proper job.
10. I know, it's the first thing I noticed :p I don't mind though. As expected it is Android based and being honest I don't particularly like Android phones or tablets (no I don't worship Apple), but once you're out of the menus you wouldn't know it was running on an Android OS. It works really well and is really responsive/quick so I think it's quite good for the money.
11. Spent the last few months deciding whether or not to persue selling the BMW or not, and what to replace it with. I think (still not 100%) I've decided to keep it for the time being and just get it a bit more up together. Seeing as I always wanted a Dynavin headunit for it, but couldn't bring myself to pay £600, I decided to get one of these instead which come with pretty decent reviews. £282 from eBay, a Chinese headunit which looks fairly OEM, but does a hell of a lot more than the system you would get from BMW as an option back in the day. FM/AM/DAB Radio Satellite Navigation DVD Bluetooth (Calls and music) USB Input Aux Input MicroSD slot WiFi 3G Web browser TorquePro (OBD2 Reader) Support for DigitalTV Support for reversing camera and dash-cam Haven't actually even tried half of it yet
12. I should be buying some everything for my PC looking at those recommended specs. Fairly sure I can still run the game quite well, but it's getting depressing seeing how my PC no longer makes the recommended specs on new games anymore. Poor i5 2500k, you stayed so mighty for so long...
13. R.I.P. Agalloch, another one of my favourite bands gone...
14. Well, I didn't think it was too bad to be honest. The 'road-trip' to Blackpool was a bit bland and typically I found the SIARPC section dragged on too much. Reading that a lot of people have given up on it before even the first episode has finished, but I think I'll still look forward to watching it on a Sunday evening just like I did with old Top Gear. Is there anything else car related on TV these days that isn't repeats of old Top Gear on Dave, or repeats of Wheeler Dealers or Fast n Loud on the Discovery Channel? Nope. So its still the one TV show I'll actually pay attention to when its on.
15. Feels stupid to say, but I think my closest counterpart is my own car. Not particularly sporty, but I can show a decent turn of pace when I want to and cruise reasonably well most of the time. Run out of breath quicker than some (5K redline). I don't make a lot of noise and the noise you do hear isn't particularly special. I don't tend to eat/drink too much. I always have some sort of niggling ailment which doesn't really bother me. I've never had a serious problem that prevents me from doing the daily grind. (touches wood) I'm an average looker. I clean up nicely and look presentable from a short distance, but the closer you get the more defects you see. I emit a sense of dependability and do what I need to do. I've had my day and others have moved on a lot. I always feel a bit tired with all of the years and miles under my belt. I tend to play it safe most of the time, but when properly provoked I can have some fun. So, I'm an old 6 cylinder diesel BMW.
16. You wouldn't believe how long I've been waiting to do this. Couldn't be bothered to work out/remember when to reset the trip computer so that it read 123.4 or 789.0 at the precise moment though :p
17. The game made me download AMD Beta Drivers to play it, but other than that and a couple of crashes when leaving a race it seems OK. Decided after the initial race that every assist had to be turned off apart from ABS. Stability Control seems like an absolute waste of time to me, makes the cars incredibly unpredictable by twitching around all over the place under braking/acceleration, without it on I can drive a lot smoother. Ho-ly though, the first puddle I hit I just aquaplaned straight off the track even though I drove at the puddle in a straight line, these cars need some Goodyear Eagle F1s on them :p i5 2500k, 8GB RAM and an AMD HD7970 at 1080p here and the game runs well in general.
18. Persuaded my mum to go for a small upgrade a few months ago and yesterday she finally picked it up. iPotato photos and no scenery so photography merit is low, but I can't put these in Show Us Your Motors because it isn't mine, but I will be insured to drive it :) 2016 Golf GTI (Nav). Main option being the panoramic sunroof which seems reasonably rare here and was the one thing she wanted the car to have regardless of other options and colour - she's nuts :p Previous car for reference - 2013 Golf GT TDI... Problem is I want a GTI now, but I don't have £24k to drop on a car and hate the idea of financing one, so I'll look into late MK5s or MK6s as they're more in my price range :p
19. Never stop making Metal music like the above Canada...
20. Nice one, possibly the only Vauxhall I'd buy personally. These are meant to be fairly decent at going sideways aren't they? I don't want to put you off the car because they're good cars, but my nan drives one of these, albeit a 2.0 CD manual. It's way too big of a car for her to be driving at her age, but she has always liked/owned big Vauxhalls :p
21. For me about 80% of the time the game is infuriating, but I still struggle to not play it when I'm on the computer! They updated the physics recently which I have a split opinion on, and the older (lighter) tanks like the M2 in the video are insanely easy to manouvre (and they generally do about 40-50KMPH). As you progress up the tank lines the tanks generally get heavier and slower, unless you drive something like a Cromwell, or pretty much any of the French AMX tanks.
22. I don't upload anywhere near as much as I used to, but I was reasonably happy with this game on World of Tanks yesterday despite a few cheap kills. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZBnBh7bQHA Don't have a clue whats going on with the video quality, seems to plague anything I try and upload at the moment regardless of the programs I use - probably why I don't bother with videos really.
23. I just used the bodge-job way (naturally) when I did mine. A tube which was a tight fit over the bleed valve, a jar with some brake fluid in the bottom and the other end of the tube in that and then a bit of cooperation with someone else operating the brake pedal and wazza wazza bling bling any air goes into the fluid in the bottle and then rises and escapes. Worked well for me, but I like this idea so I might try it next time..
24. I play War Thunder as well occasionally, but I just play the tanks side of it rather than the airplanes :p Continuing with the tank theme, pretty much as I have since Christmas - I'm playing World of Tanks this weekend and a little bit of Armored Warfare. I've been grinding World of Tanks for weeks now, I went with the British tech tree (naturally) and I've got to Tier 6 in two different lines. I'm up to the Cromwell tank and Churchill VIII currently, but I'm a long way off Tier 7. The Cromwell is a hilarious tank to play (it's like a tank-GTI), the Churchill just seems to attract artillery. Also started lines on the German tech tree (Tier 4 with the DW2) and U.S.S.R. (Tier 5 with the KV-1). I used to be a Counter Strike addict, but I'm really addicted to tank games this year :p
