1. Currently watching old Simpsons episodes the past few weeks, picking random ones from Seasons 1 - 12. Forget how great they were. :) Last one I just saw, and one of my all time greats...the Hank Scorpio one!
2. Still recovering from Saturday night so this is it for me...
3. Hopefully drum up more support for this, maybe get it done before everyone shifts over to Horizon 3? :D I've been playing about with some max tuned D & E spec cars and had some interesting results so far...we could have some down right odd cars doing this!
4. :bump: Alright again everyone, I has a plan for a single run of the championship if anyone else if keen? (And it get's the blessing's from Skylark & Santtu) A one-off event taking place at the Dayton Speedway, 50 -75 lap's or so depending what car class is picked? Car Rules? Well since you'll be turning left the entire time drivetrain should't make a difference as it's all about the speed really, and pit stops are only used if needed! This can all be properly decided if anyone was interested of course.
5. One car I forgot, and is actually one that'd suit electric in my mind is... DMC-ev. Don't know if they ever got round to making it, or if it was just a running concept. Still, I would. :D
6. As a daily car? Call me dull but... Yes it's a Ford, so it'll do everything it should do in somewhat comfort. But the Nissan Leaf is also tempting as well. Personally, think Hybrid's or Hydrogen Cell's are the way to go over full on electric. Least with a hybrid if you run out of charge in electric mode, you have a back up. And with how the weather and lack of charging places when out in the middle of nowhere, you'd be needing that up my way.
7. Thats one that always annoys me actually, saying X car uses Y motor. Yes some of them model's did, but not all. (Made worse when said partnership ended a good few years beforehand) Going by that logic, may as well say that Rovers made since the mid 50's offered a Gas Turbine engine thanks to the JET1 concept, or how all Fords are powered by Volvo engines thanks to the C30 and Focus ST using the same 5-pot engine! The ones that get me is Rover with some using Honda engines...seeing people go "Nah it wont brake its the Honda engine one that is" when talking about the 75 V6's. Also saying how every diesel model is the BMW engine. Would't annoy me as much as it does, but it's the fact people selling it on information that's wrong that get's me.

Quick update. I did say about the condition of the driver's sill, but never showed how it was.. . Oh Bollocks... by C C, on Flickr Thankfully, threw connections and being with one of Aberdeen's general car clubs we quickly sourced a guy who did the work, as well as give the underside a quick once over in case of any more rot. Welded sill. by C C, on Flickr £160 altogether for the welding, that's for the main bit as shown, as well as another part. So for the time being, we prepped it and then coated it in Waxoyl for the time being to prevent the rot again. Waxoyled sill. by C C, on Flickr It'll be getting properly sorted out when we get the chance, filler, smooth it, paint, etc. Will also do the bit's of bubbling on the rear arches at the same time. :) Another problem was the drivers side brake light, would fit it fine but as soon as you moved it'd stop working. A simple reason why... Problems... by C C, on Flickr The hole for putting the bulb/holder in was broke, meaning it'd stay secure but no connection would be made. As well as that the bulb holder had melted a small part in the past, marking the contact. The fix was a new tail light from the scrappy (£7) and it works good as new. Will hopefully get some pictures of the car if the weather is nice this weekend. :)
9. We've all hard that moment, be in online or out & about, where you hear or see someone say something relating to cars that just down right irradiates you. Be it a downright lie or annoying misconceptions. Half the time when this happens I don't bother correcting people on it though unless it's people I know who'd care. Just to say, when I say "Car Folk" i'm meaning the type of people, like most of us here, who know the in's, outs and downright random stuff people would't care about. So to start us off, here's a few from myself... While washing the Lexus at a Jet wash, a taxi driver who was next to me commented about the car with... "Ah great cars, I had one a few years back with the manual box" I'm sure you did mate. At a car meet I seen a MG ZT 260 parked up, me and my mate were ogling it. Then hear a kid walking past comment (Changed words slightly) "Why do they care? it's a pile of Poo Rover". Later seen the guy sitting in his Corsa VXR, vaping away. People seeing your car then saying how they had the next model up (I.e, you could have a M3 & they will say that they had the GTS) Assuming that because it's an old car, it's worthless. One i'm having alot at the moment, is people asking "Why bother restoring THAT?" often followed by "If it was the M3 I could understand". Surely I'm not the only one?
10. Only just back from Knockhill...left the track at 8PM! :D Big thing for me was Welsh being there, despite the car getting mangled at the last race! As always put up a good fight and even managed to get a selfie with him! Also must have been the only guy there other than my mate wearing Welsh Motorsport branded stuff! So of course got smiles & welcomes from the team. Race 3 was tense, I watched from Hislop's and got to see the Collard/ Turkington smash and the last 10 laps was crazy how little there was between the top 6! Race 2 was fun, was between the Arnold Clark Chicane & Clarks. Forget how crazy the exit is from the Chicane is! Top driver for that was Mark Howard, due to the fact of going off at the same point 3 times, getting slightly airborn on the grass(making huge divits) and then just carrying on! A special note to the F4, which on race one ended with 2 drivers colliding on the main straight, and a case of fisticuffs's braking out! Also... Got turned down for the roll of Grid model sadly...
11. £17,000 for a old Volvo, no matter what spec it is that's bloody expensive! I could get a used C63, M3 (E93), RS4, VXR8 or IS-F for more or less the same price! Safe to say it's a no buy from me.
12. Being loyal to a brand means nothing these days. Surely annoying your loyal fans who'll be back time after time is better to please than a handful of youtuber's/medial personalty's who'll no doubt sell the car in a years time for the next big thing? Sure it means the car gets short term exposure and such, but at the expense of loyal, long term owners? To me it feels like they are trying too hard to be "hip n trendy" with a social media presence, as most cars in the supercar class make there own presence and have done for years! From the Lamborghini Countach in the 70's & 80's to the Ferrari Enzo & Ford GT of the 2000's!

It's been bought to be lightly restored. Why? For starters it's actually rare than the M3 in the UK and it's 'poverty spec'. Arctic white & unpainted bumpers for the win. And yes, it'll be at classic shows and such once we tidy it up and such. For being a 316i, it's not rapid by any means, but it's faster than we expected. And handles bloody fantastic! :) As for it being a Polish 'Rednecks' car, it'd fall into the same category here in the UK I guess but under the "Chav" name. That or a "drift missile" after it had a 6-pot dropped in... Good news is: - We knew it was full service history, but this has every bit of paperwork going back to 1998! Looked after by a BMW dealership in central London (Car was near Kensington for 18 years!) for everything from brakes to wiper blades & bulbs being fitted, last BMW paperwork was in 2011, and from then on it was looked after by a BMW specialist until June this year, when it ended up in Southern Scotland. (Last owner had it just a month & a half!) - The alloys on it are getting sold, although wider (205/15's) were not a fan of it, and it's not in fitting with the 'Poverty spec' of the car. Can make up around half the price we paid on these alone! She's sitting on the original steel wheels & wheel-trims just now. :) (185/15's) - Sadly, no original BMW radio (we are looking) but does have a fancy & newish looking DAB radio, which likely cost around £100. - Bodywork is in good condition for a car of it's age, and considering it spent it's life in central London! But... Bad News: - We knew there was some surface rust on some of the wings, easy enough to sort. We also knew of a bit of rot on the drivers side sill, which is a welding job! Asking around as know a few folk who''l do the work but of course then need to see it first to see just how bad it is.(Should be savable, I had A Cappuccino saved dammit...) I reckon £200 max for the work. - Knew there was a "Slight blowing" on the backbox. It turns out that half the backbox has rusted away. And onto of that there's no pipe actually connected to the back box. Simple fix that, a hours work and £40 for the parts. - Drivers side front brake's, disc is worse for wear and pads rather low. Guessing the caliper slider pins could do with replacing as well considering how the pads are worn more on one side than the other. But overall serviceable. Work on the exhaust & brakes will be done once we know the rot is actually okay and can be saved. Worst comes to worst, we sell the car for what we paid and it becomes a 'drift slag'. We'd be in profit anyways.

Yes, I've done it. I've bought a German car. And it's a Classic. Everyone loves the E36 BMW, a fantastically 90's car and a cracking chassis loved by track day warriors, Back road blasters, Drifters and the like. So when one came up for sale at a price I could't refuse, it had to be done. DSCN2476 by C C, on Flickr So how much did the fine steed cost me? £97.50 5 Months MOT, Fully Service history at both BMW & a respected BMW specialist. Alloys off a 328i with good tyres, a full set of steel wheels with brand new Toyo Proxies, a DAB radio and all the original tool kit & torch! Okay, it actually cost me £195 as it's a joint by with Me™.
15. As well as having a new factory in Ebbw Vale,Wales, not far from where Aston will have there new factory. TVR are going to be the title sponsor of the Ebbw Vale rugby club! Or as they are knowen as "The Steelmen". They current champion's of the Principality Premiership (There top Rugby League). So there is a reason for the deal, and it's great to see them supporting the local area! And personally, I think Rugby is a much more fitting sport for the brand than Football.
16. At one end, we have the BMW ISetta Bubble car of the 50's. At the other end we have a bloody Merc Actros racetruck. At other cars are: - McLaren 570S. - Fiat 124 Spider Sport (1980) - Chevy Cruze (WTCC spec) - Ford- Brawner Hawk III (Indy 500 winner in 1969) - Jaguar XKR GT3. - Merc Racetruck. (Loosly based off an Actros) - BMW Isetta 'Bubble Car' The Truck & bubble car alone make this one for me. As well as the 124 Spider. :) Look's like I'll have to make my works wlivery for the Truck, considering how we have a large amount of the current Actros on the fleet.
17. R8 & LaFerrari? Also the 8C? Really? The R8 is popular & well liked, yes. But Iconic? The LaFerrari, yes it's Ferrari's lalalala car for the 2010's. First to have hybrid gibbins, etc but I would't call iconic myself. The 8C? Look's fantastic, but other than that it's a bit meh. Not a car everyone remembers. Surely the likes of the 300SL, Miura and Corvette are better suited? I'll come up with my list 'Soon'. :)
18. I like this as a open top more than the hard top, which I've no idea how as all they've done is taken the roof panel off! Must be the colour, angle, photo trickery. I'm going to guess this is a targa top rather than out & out convertible though. Unless they have some hidden device for the roof to work! :mhmm:
19. Took this a few week's ago while back up the West Coast, fantastic weather and the road was near enough empty. :D The Applecross-Shieldaig road is a personal favourite of mine, by no means a driving road due to the fact half the time you can't see whats coming the other way. But can still have fun on it, while taking in the views. :D Can't wait to taker the Abarth up there once it's fixed up.
20. we all knew it was coming, but now it's official... Link to Tweet here.
21. I see what you did there. - I could see myself living stateside, not sure what state as a few that take my fancy, but I would't want to live in a big city. Job wise it would't be a problem, HGV mechanic's will always be needed for the foreseeable future, and the skill set is easy transferable to other fields (Mechanical or engineering). I'd fit into some states really well thanks to my liking of gun's, drinking and cars, and there's plenty of out door stuff to do. Alas, I often feel it seem's a bit too good to be true. And I'm a too settled to my life here in good ol Aberdeenshire. :)
22. I try to forget about Citroen China, because chances of there offspring every reaching the UK, let alone the Europe are very slim. Never read the spec's on the Panamera if I'm honest, just the pictures. The car is just that seductive...
23. Citroen are one to keep an eye on, as they are planning on bringing back hydropneumatic suspension! :D The ride on cars fitted with that is just fantastic, even in a shonky 16 year old Xantia! Mix that with there crazy styling of late, I'm happy to say I think Citroen have there mojo back. Now just make a big saloon in the footsteps of the C6, CX and original DS! - The new Panamera is quite simply, sexy. Had a love/hate relation with the old car, could't make my mind up if I liked the way it looked or not thanks to the rear end of it, but after time I grew to like it. (Being in the right colour really helps!.) This new one is just spot on for me though, and can't wait to see how bonkers the Turbo & GTS models will be!
24. The Falklands. It's essentially just the West Coast of Scotland, only without the midge's. Jokes aside, honestly don't see myself moving away from the North East of Scotland.
25. I did see that the gallery had been added in the 5 days I've been away. So expect it to be slowly spammed with the stuff I've seen at events, meets, museum, etc. ;)
