1. Casually out for a drive along some of the roads on the northern Aberdeenshire/Moray coast and came across... 4 Avenger Tigers & aSunbeam Rapier Fastback by CarbonCoffee, on Flickr 4 Hillman Avenger Tigers... Not bad for a car that was rare in it's day and less than 50 remain in the world! Oh, and there all the rear deal, not replicas! :D The white car was a Sunbeam Rapier Fastback. Again, a rare car! Also an original Mini and a mini Moke casually sitting there as well. Found in a small village, I did an emergency stop while driving past to make sure I was't seeing things! And was fangirling a bit as well. Anyway, small photo dump of them here: Avenger Tiger & Mini. by CarbonCoffee, on Flickr Group photo... by CarbonCoffee, on Flickr Mini Moke & Tiger by CarbonCoffee, on Flickr Tigers rears and the Rapier Fastback front. by CarbonCoffee, on Flickr Excuse the photo quality, sunny day, windows and camera phone.
2. have to say, the P1 front end on the front of the MP4-12C (sorry the 12C as it's now officially called.) actually suits it. Can see the front end being introduced as a face lift across the range, as a mid-term fresh up and to keep the family face and all. (as much as i hate the whole range looking the same)
3. It's been awhile since I updated this, so lets got a nice update! :D The garage: The Civic, AKA 'Wolf'. She's still going strong as ever, hauling all sorts of crap and scraping on speed bumps. Would't have it any other way. Haven't had any new mods since the last report, just more stickers on the off-side rear window and the yellow headlamp tint. She's getting re-taxed as well as new belts and timing done as well as sorting the valve clearances. May end up looking like a MG ZS by the end of the year. :D The Clio. AKA "Renault Sport Clio NBR edition" or "The Shed", "the van" or "PoS" (Peace of S...) She's a 1999 1.2 8V Clio, Mk2 phase 1 'Poverty Spec'.Only has 64.5K miles under it's wheels and drives like a dream. It's better to list what it doesn't' have rather than it has, so to start the list: No Power Steering, ABS, TC, Rev counter, rear seats. Has unpainted bumpers, original Renault cassette player, 4 wheels, 2 doors and a roof as well as some rust. To be fair, it's better than it sounds, mechanical its perfect, body wise it looks a dog. This acts as a van and soon to be track car, because racecar and all. Why do i have two cars? because i needed something to use for work while the Civic was getting fixed for its MoT back in October (2013), got the clio cheap and haven't the heart to sell her. Love the basic thrill of it and has the classic go-kart handling of the mk2 Clio! Heres a teaser image of things to come for "Renault Sport Clio NBR edition" ;)
4. You mean make a spin off and name it something like "Shift" and have that for track racing? ;)
5. I'll easily take to covering: Motorshows Motorsports Events and throw in reviews of cars & stuff as well as the odd bit of news? As i said a wee bit back I attend most major event at Knockhill, as well as over half the rally's in the Scottish rally championship and many other car shows and meets(local, Scotland & UK wide) . Also I'll be attending the Gumball 3000 as well when the party rolls up in Edinburgh. So if you want i'll get something typed up for the Snowman Rally and send it over? Thats if it happens and doesn't get stopped like last year(sadly, motorsports is't always safe)
6. Just started up the game and said there was an update, did that then went to look on the car sales place online & in the gun shop, cars 7 guns on sale. :nods:
7. I've the update, gotten the "Bravado Rat-loader' & 'Albany Roosevelt' showing up in to buy online...the Roosevelt is an eye-watering $750k! Likewise the Tommy Gun is up as well. :D
8. I should be at Snowman Rally stages next Saturday, so could do a wee write up on that as well as some pictures. :) Also next Sunday i'll be at knockhill personally thrashing the Clio at a trackday, do a review for it or just give basics on trackday stuff..i dunno.
9. I'll give it a shot. I'll be getting #Driveclub when it comes out and be picking up WRC4 soonish. Also got a back catalogue of games in my collection ranging from Gran Turismo to Initial D, so if need be can easily do a "blast from the past" review or something. Also if you wanted to stray away from games I could do the odd car review(actual driving, not using a simulator/game) as well as coverage from events & car shows. (cover neare enough every major car event to pass threw knockhill, as well as over half the rally's on the SRC calender)...maybe mesh it up as a "Blown Turbos/Turbo Duck" thing or something? I'd try to avoid my trademark of bad spelling, grammar and punctuation as well. ;)
10. R* being the new Atari? "We'll add the update soon.....maybe...yeah sure.....and DLC....honest!"
11. I'm with Robik94 here. I had the pleasure (dis-pleasure?) of driving a Mk5/6 Ford Escort hatch & convertible in the space of a week up at a friends last year and gave them both a good thrashing both on & off road (both were field cars, but still taxed & Mot'd), And have to say it was only when you were giving it 8 - 10/10ths you would feel the drop top was't quite up to it.
12. That like you said...or it's named after an actual event in 1920's gangster history. ;) Quite like your explanation though! - Loving the idea though! can't wait to do a hold up's and using the Tommy gun & using the car for getaway! Bonnie & Clyde anyone?
13. All WRC cars are street legal. ;) But I get what you mean though!
14. Your true on that, but the stress put on a wheel doing somthing such as drifting or racing is much greater than going for a spirited drive. Also if you check the wheels every now and then you'd be able to spot things before they happen. Things such as this very rarely happen at the drop of a hat, always a build up before getting that unless in extreme circumstances.
15. Maybe so, but when one single alloy cost's more than half the price you paid for the car(in the case of mine), that's why people get 'replica'. Also unless your causing so much stress on your cars wheels that'd cause damage your fine. It's one thing sitting saying "only the real thing are good and everything else is rubbish" and all...but in the end it's down to what a guy can afford or want to spend.
16. Targa & T-Tops come under a diffident level I'd say, as on the whole they look like the coupe and often don't suffer from the loss of having bits of the roof cut out. My first one was a 2001 1.2 8V (Mk2 Phase 2). For a car of the age it was well built and at 80k on the clock it got me 10k more miles on with no problems. :) My second one is a 1999 Mk2 Phase 1 of the same engine. Base spec...No power steering,ABS, Rev counter or anything like that and has unpainted bumpers plus the inside is made of mostly hard plastics  Only 64k miles though and runs like new. The build quality on the Phase 2 is leaps and bounds better than the Ph1. But I've said many a time here, what I says good quality and others say is leaps & bounds differences due to the fact I've always grown up with old cars(10 years old+). But lets keep this on topic! :nods:
17. Nothing wrong with french cars, the Clio's are the most reliable cars I've owned! (somehow!). I just dont like the way that the Mk2 Megan CC looks...but we all like different things! And I'm much the same with the video! Much like how I almost missed the DS3-R in by Pixie Lott. Said car was never sold though. ;)
18. The Megan CC (Mk2) was just....I dont even know, I just never liked the way it looked! But with you bringing the C3 Pluriel into the picture.... It's one of them cars I like for some reason. Sure it suffers from being a bit of a poser's car, the woman's choice for a M car and the fact Cheryl Cole drove one in her video "know my name" (Actually, how is that a bad thing? ) But I like it. :) --- @Mellors - Your right! But This is for cars that were offered as both coupe & convertible, the F/TF were never offered as a coupe. Well other than the 1 prototype they made.. I just remember the fun I had with the MR2,T-bar off at every opportunity day & night. Keep a pair of safety goggles in the car so could stand and stick out the roof.
19. Seems' to be in sitting in my own corner as it is when it comes to picking a drop top to a tin top. I'll be honest and say that it does depend on the car though, as some convertible's i'd rather not even remember (Mk2 Renault Megane CC anyone?), but others are some of my secret loves of the car world.....E92 M3, I would. Maybe I'm a sucker for letting myself get my heart set on driving around on a nice road in the west coast of Scotland, roof down and the sun out...on days like these and all. --- Thanks. Although I should change the description as this is about cars that are sold as both a coupe & convertible. :nods:
20. Thread name says it all really. While browsing some cars for sale, I could't help myself but get drawn to the roofless editions of some cars insted of the coupe. Even though I live in a country that's famed for having "4 seasons in one day" weather. Even though alot of convertible's have less stiff body's due to cutting the roof off, and you can look like too much of a poser in some convertibles...I've a soft spot for roofless motoring. So whats other people opinions? :) EDIT - This is for cars that are/were offered as both a coupe & a convertible! So No bringing the MX5 into this! ;)
21. Sorry for the dubble post, but think it can be warranted due to this being something bought. :nods: Was looking for a grill for my Civic again as well as a window wind-up-thing for a Vectra.... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand left with a bonnet for my Clio insted. (pictured inside my clio at that as well). Nearly got a passengers side door as well but never had the tools on me. So Guess what I'm going to be doing tomorrow. ;)
22. Noice! You'll fair feel a difference with them! :) Can you adjust the damping as well with them? Nice feature to have expically if you want to stiffen it when on a track or know your going for a spirited drive, then soften it for the week. What I do with mine anyway.
23. One of the things I remeber best from it is the music! :) Night of fire. And 'Back on the rocks' (or 'Phantom Skyline' in Japanese)
24. After getting fed up of hiring a helmet , finally gotten one of my own. The Sparco X1. Good price and fits well. Going to be christening it at knockhill later this month. Also got some wind deflectors for the Civic at long last thanks to getting them for a good price. :nods:
25. I hate It when that happens, how I needed up with a PS4 insted of a sidelight bulb... You'll have alot of fun with her anyway! :D Nice to see an Evo in dark blue! Almost all blue ones I've seen are in solid light blue which just looks gash! If your selling parts from the Civic, Dibs on the alloys! ;) - I added something to the car finally... Been after window deflectors for ages but could't find any for a price I agree with. Thanks to a tip off from a friend who's relatives was getting rid of there deflectors for there Rover 45..a deal was done and I'm happy. :nods:
