  1. ’Calling All Units’ Key Giveaway Players of The Crew can get themselves in with a chance of winning a ‘Calling All Units’ expansion key with the latest Community Challenge to go live in the game. Open to all players and platforms from November 16th - 22nd, the Los Angeles based ‘Fake Out’ challenge will pit them against a prison bus that is accompanied with a heavy police escort. At the end of the challenge the top 20 players on each platform of PS4, Xbox One and PC will be sent a key. It is also important to note that in order to take part game accounts must be linked to Uplay, as this is how the lucky winners will be contacted. It's unclear if the key will activate before the official release of the 29th or if those who win will need to hold off until then before activating, but seeing as it is only a week either way, it really isn't that much of an issue to be fair. The Crew 'Calling All Units' expansion is out November 29th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. [via The Crew blog]
  2. Pure Porsche Excellence With a week to go until Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack Volume 2 is released for the PC version of Assetto Corsa, Marco Massarutto has been at it again in just casually dropping images of some of the contents of the pack on his own Facebook page. The first Porsche pack was quite something to behold when images were shown of it before its release but these latest shots are on another level due to the cars that are in them. Real Porsche pedigree is on display with the 911 GT1, 919 Hybrid 2015, 911 GT3 RS and the classic 718 Spyder RS all getting their own images but the one that really catches your attention – or at least it did mine – is the group shot of the 3 racecars of the 911 GT1, 919 Hybrid 2015 and the 962c all together on track. This image alone will sell the game to people as that is like a holy trinity in itself. Two cars are missing from these showings though: the 718 Boxster S and the Cayman GT4, however we get the feeling that they will grace us with their presence in not too long if past showcases is anything to go by. UPDATE://1 - Marco posted this brilliant shot of the 718 Spyder RS and the 718 Boxster S side-by-side. Quite a difference in size in the more than 50 years between them. Assetto Corsa – Porsche Pack Volume 2 Contents Porsche 911 GT3 RS Porsche 718 Spyder RS Porsche Cayman GT4 Porsche 718 Boxster S Manual Transmission Porsche 718 Boxster S PDK Porsche 919 Hybrid 2015 Porsche 911 GT1 Porsche 962c Long Tail Porsche 962c Short Tail The PS4 and Xbox One are still waiting for Porsche Pack Volume 1 and it is coming but wow it would be mighty annoying to have the second Porsche pack drop before the console even gets the first. Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack Volume II is due to release on November 22ndvia Steam for PC. Don’t forget that you can buy the Porsche Season Pass (also available on console) and enjoy a saving of 28% on buying the three packs individually. UPDATE://1 - Posted November 15th, 2016 @ 17:03 pm GMT
  3. Assetto Corsa Will Get Private Lobbies After all the delays that the console version of Assetto Corsa experienced, you would have honestly expected Kunos Simulazioni to realise that certain features such as Private Lobbies and the use of purchased content online to be obvious ones to have. This was not the case though, as for whatever reason these were left out. Being a small team we can of course allow them some sway in this matter but just looking on their official channels you can see that the lack of Private Lobbies is probably the most often raised criticism. And rightly so, after all many a racing game has come and gone and given players the ability to set up their own lobby, where like-minded racers or friends can join without the worry that some random is going to cause trouble or disruption. It also allows for leagues and championships which the more hardcore of the racing community are very fond of. Then there is being able to use your purchased DLC online, I mean come on this should be common sense should it not? A bad start can tar a title and turn people away indefinitely and the only way to bring it back in front of them is for those who are still playing to show that the game is vastly improved over what it was. Naturally, this takes the support of the developers to give these people a reason to keep playing in order to exhibit the changes but it can be done, just look at DRIVECLUB after all. Incredibly, as we approach the proposed release date of Porsche Pack Volume 2, the consoles still do not have Volume 1. There is no release date even hinted at yet and so those on console will just have to keep waiting until a date is officially revealed. Porsche Pack Volume 1 Porsche 911 Carrera S Porsche 918 Spyder Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 Porsche 718 Cayman S Porsche 917/30 Spyder Porsche 935/78 'Moby Dick' Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport Just like the PC saw last month, the console update (Version 1.09) that will accompany the pack will include the Porsche Panamera G2 Turbo as well as the historic Silverstone circuit for free. 4. Power Up Ready! The ‘Calling All Units’ expansion for The Crew which puts cops against street racers is less than three weeks away from release and it is time to learn about the abilities that both cops and racers will have to themselves as well as those they will share the use of. Starting with the tricks that the Street Racers will be able to pull to evade capture there is “Flash Bang”, this will temporarily blind and disorientate opponents and is likely to cause some havoc if used at the right moment. “Unlimited Nitro” should need no explanation whereas “Guardian” will remove any negative effects on you or nearby allies, while also providing a short period of protection. Police have “Jammer” which will remove the UI of the Street Racer making for map knowledge a much needed skill especially when racing around the urban environments. Not sure if that is the only police specific ability but it is the only one mentioned in the source. Both factions can use “EMP Shock”, this common power-up messes up the direction and steering of the one hit with it and will be most useful when employed in a way that will make the victim crash or fly off a cliff. Only 2 abilities can be equipped at a time so there will be some strategy involved in picking what will work best for the situation ahead. Joining up with others will make this easier and is something that is definitely encouraged. Making for what should be a number of fun and frantic occurrences. The Crew ‘Calling All Units’ is out November 29th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. [via The Crew blog]
  5. The Crew Celebrates Turning 2! The Crew is coming up for its second anniversary in December and those behind the game want to reward those who have been there since the beginning of that journey with a free Lamborghini and an exclusive sticker! If you were playing the game back in December 2014 or joined the party in January 2015 then an in-game Lamborghini Huracán will be yours for free, along with a stylish 2-year anniversary sticker! The Crew’s second anniversary is coming up in December this year! As we prepare to celebrate this important milestone, we can’t help but think about everything that has been accomplished since we first revealed the game, and how much we’re grateful for our incredible community. - The Crew official site The reward will be pushed out to all who are eligible with the launch of the ‘Calling All Units’ expansion on November 29th. All that’s needed to gain it for those who fall within the above criteria is, to log in once the expansion is live and the Lambo and sticker! will be unlocked on your account. You do NOT need to own any of the expansions in order to be eligible. The Crew ‘Calling All Units’ expansion is out November 29th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. [via The Crew] Personally I just want to say it has been quite the experience following the early days of the mentions of Ivory Tower and what they could be working on. I can still remember when Speeder shared that tiny first screen they found digging around the early Ivory Tower website, showing that it was a car game. Then a few months later I came across a couple of renders by an Ivory Tower muppet that again sparked off the imagination engines going off in people. Mixing in some hear-say and reports about the possible name, finally we saw it, The Crew was revealed at E3 2013. So I want to give a massive shout out and big thanks to: Julian Gerighty, Soufyane Brahimi, Anne Blondel-Jouin, “Fergus”, natchai, Ubisoft and the whole Ivory Tower team for all their support and general goodness they’ve shown to us here at turboduck. From sharing general information, answering questions or providing us with beta and game codes to giveaway. The respect we've been shown has been above what we deserve in all honesty and I cannot thank them enough for it, and I absolutely cannot wait to see what else and new is to come from The Crew crew.
  6. The Crew - Police STOP! The latest expansion for The Crew is heading out on duty next month and the details on how the unlocking of police vehicles in the ‘Calling All Units’ (CAU) expansion have been set out. First and foremost is that every player will be able to do the Police prologue, providing they have done at least the original game prologue first. After completion of that the Police shop will unlock in Chicago and this is one non-buyers of the expansion will find their access to what the expansion offers stop. [caption id=attachment_5790" align="alignnone" width="800] Welcome officer. Have a free Mercedes![/caption] Owners of CAU meanwhile will be given their first police vehicle in the way of the brand new to the game Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé when they access the shop for the first time. Other pursuit models will be available to buy with both Crew Credits and Bucks. If you don’t want to use your hard-earned game currency or real-world spent cash then these vehicles can also be unlocked by completing chases. Street racers need to deliver a crate to a designated location and the police have to catch and arrest the Street Racer trying to make the delivery. A win will give the player the chance to earn a vehicle part as part of their loot; 10 parts is needed to create a Full Stock Street Racer vehicle whereas those playing as Police will need to double that and acquire 20 parts. The chances of looting a vehicle part will vary based on the difficulty of the chase (Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum). If you don’t win a part the first time, you can retry a chase as many times as you like until you do. - The Crew official site Crate chases are launched by the Street Racers, so officer gamer’s chance of grabbing a part depends on the difficulty selected by the runner. Pursuers don’t just jump in blind though, they can see what the difficulty is and therefore can choose to participate or decline the chase if they feel it isn’t of any benefit to them. Unfortunately patrolling the freeroam roads and highways isn’t possible as player-controlled Police will not be able to chase those going about their illegal business. It’s understandably to stop harassment but the fact of the matter is that there are players out there who would want this. So why not make it optional or even better, create a mode or server instance where this could be the case? The Crew ‘Calling All Units’ expansion is due out November 29th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. 7. Porsche Pack Teasing - Take 2 The Assetto Corsa team are clearly back to work (read: sober) after the celebrations of the release of the first Porsche Pack, which became available for PC through Steam last week and comes to console some time in November. Moving the volume dial up to 2 (see what I did there?), firm favourite for divulging the goods about anything to do with the game is Licensing Project Manager, Marco Massarutto and fantastically he is at it again. Posting up new teaser images on his Facebook that show the interiors of some of the Porsche cars that will come in Porsche Pack Volume 2. In the first of these we can see a classic racer complete with racing goggles sitting square and true in a 718 Spyder RS 60, kept firmly in place with the help of a racing harness. The next set encompasses some of the best known of Porsche racing in recent times: that blue ‘PORSCHE’ text against the white banner and that dashboard can be nothing else but the 962c, the vents on the bonnet/hood and that mirror position spells out 911 GT1 and the wires all over the place and lashings of carbon fibre scream out 919 Hybrid – which we know* is the 2015 edition because of the listing on Steam. *It helps that Marco also posted the names of the cars with each image which I did not see!! Assetto Corsa – Porsche Pack Volume 2 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Porsche 718 Spyder RS Porsche Cayman GT4 Porsche 718 Boxster S Manual Transmission Porsche 718 Boxster S PDK Porsche 919 Hybrid 2015 Porsche 911 GT1 Porsche 962c Long Tail Porsche 962c Short Tail Is it possible to get excited about what the pack will contain if we already know? Well yes as with each image shown from in-game we get an idea of what to expect and can analyse the details for ourselves, building up the anticipation for the day when we will get to try them out on our own machines. Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack Volume 2 is likely to release on November 22nd for PC on Steam with the consoles again to come sometime afterwards. 8. Forza Horizon Alpine² It is the beginning of a brand new month and that means some new motors for the latest Forza must be due. Well it is and in fact it is available today! The ‘Alpinestars Car Pack’ brings seven new cars to Forza Horizon 3 including a most-requested drifting legend, a circuit-smashing Viper, a classic Aussie muscle and a Talbot Sunbeam for all the odd fellows and lassies that are out there. :p (it is Lotus tuned mind) Forza Horizon 3 – Alpinestars Car Pack 2017 Acura NSX 1998 Nissan Silvia K’s 1990 Mazda Savannah RX-7 1967 Ford Falcon XR GT 2016 Dodge Viper ACR 2016 BMW M4 GTS 1979 Talbot Lotus Sunbeam Out now, the DLC is available as part of the 'Forza Horizon 3 Car Pass' or as a standalone purchase. We were also given a sneak peek at what the first of the two expansion packs aims to deliver... Snow! "Theeee hillllls are alive with the sound of screaming V12!!" That’s right, winter is coming to Australia in what is actually the summer due to it being located in the southern hemisphere, but we can ignore that as the image above showing a Lamborghini Centenario caked in the white stuff is just too good to ignore. Don’t forget that you can buy a ‘Forza Horizon 3 Expansion Pass’ to get discounted access to the two expansions, or for those who bought the Ultimate Edition then you will be ecstatic to hear that a small discount is available on the pass until the end of this year. 9. Porsche Now Available for Assetto Corsa In what has been a long and somewhat agonising wait since the reveal that Porsche would be coming to Assetto Corsa, the day of it actually happening for players has finally arrived! From today PC players can purchase Porsche Pack Volume 1 on Steam. Those looking to snap up all of the Porsche offerings throughout the three packs should really look into the Season Pass as it too is set at a very good price and delivers a proper saving compared to the more typical examples out there. Accompanying the content drop Kunos have released a smartly produced trailer, featuring the different models doing what they do best and of course incorporating some slow-motion action to really hammer home those acclaimed physics the title is known for. It’s been 12-years (!) since we have had a developer actually able to use the Porsche license without needing to go through Electronic Arts in some way, and it is about damn time too. EA basically squandered the exclusive agreement they had for too long and it is good to see a team – a small team remember – be the one to use Porsche as it should have been done for so much of that time. Assetto Corsa – Porsche Pack Volume 1 Porsche 911 Carrera S Porsche 918 Spyder Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 Porsche 718 Cayman S Porsche 917/30 Spyder Porsche 935/78 'Moby Dick' Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport The Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack Vol.1 is available now on Steam for PC and coming in November for PS4 and Xbox One. Assetto Corsa v1.9 Update – Free Panamera & Historic Silverstone! As if providing the first Porsche Pack wasn’t enough to fill the day there also comes the new update of version 1.9. This new update isn’t just the usual collection of bug fixes and improvements, though naturally these are a part of it. Version 1.9 brings with it the first of the 3 free Porsches to come, the Panamera G2, along with a new Historic 60s Silverstone track. And to add to the list of famous motoring brands who want to feature in AC, a small but nice detail change will see your virtual racer kitted out in official Sparco driver suits and gloves. UPDATE://1 - Images of the free Porsche Panamera and Historic Silverstone track added. Another notable mention is that the audio department has received some really nice updates, with the team having reworked the sounds in many areas: the development team has reworked FMod interaction within the game, optimizing memory and CPU usage and improving the entire sfx engine, resulting in a much better sound environment and immersion - Assetto Corsa forums The full list of what comes with v1.9 can be found below: Assetto Corsa – v1.9 Changelog - New Porsche 991 Carrera S (Porsche Pack #1 DLC) - New Porsche 918 Spyder (Porsche Pack #1 DLC) - New Porsche 718 Cayman S (Porsche Pack #1 DLC) - New Porsche 917/30 CanAm 1973 (Porsche Pack #1 DLC) - New Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 1974 (Porsche Pack #1 DLC) - New Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport (Porsche Pack #1 DLC) - New Porsche 935/78 Moby Dick 1978 (Porsche Pack #1 DLC) - New Porsche Panamera G2 Turbo - New Silverstone 1967 historic track - Added session time/laps on the top of the screen (laps are the leader ones) - Now race is over when the car complete its lap and the leader has finished his last one - Added dynamic ARB - Fixed possible collision still active on race restart - Added ERS recharge digital display - Improved precision on all digital leds - GT3 cars use tire model v10. - Fixed TC sound distortion when triggered for the first time - New camber grip variation formula (Thank You Nao!) - Simplified DirectX 11 initialization - Added official "Sparco" license to Assetto Corsa - Added Ballast system through Ballast App (single player only) - Added new F9 vertical layouts - Added new driver + crew texture system - Added new personal driver texture - Fixed virtual mirrors rendered when not necessary - Fixed Kers and ERS able to rev in neutral and reverse gear and overrev the engine - Improved FFB App UI, so label is readable by VR users - Added multiplayer splits - Added Time Table leaderboard mode: this includes realtime splits and delta - Added Fmod optimizations - Added Anti-Wrecker protection - Fixed AI "flapping" DRS in traffic - Improved autoshifter - Improved laptimes board by adding splits and tyre compound - Fixed backfire animation freezing after session change - Fixed leaderboard history in multiplayer - Added voting spam protection - horizon locked view removed from Bumper camera - Delta App reviewed - Fixed possible flickering in case of engine stall - Added backfire animation to Zonda R - python new functions and members - getCarTyreCompound(carid) - Tyre blister and grain are now tied to the "Wear" settings and not "Damage". This fixes stuttering when a surface event is triggered for the first time and should limit "digital clicks" - Fixed multiplayer opponent surfaces sound when it leaves instantly (e.g acs proces kill/crash) while driving on sand/kerb/etc... - New dirt sound effects - New brake squeal for some "old" cars - Added audio fade when track camera changes - Added [VERSION] section in audio.ini - Removed [LATENCY] section in audio.ini (managed by FMod itself now) and from the GUI - Slightly modified gear grind sound - Fixed wrong listener position for track and car cameras in some situations - added DRL on LaFerrari, Mclaren P1, Nissan 370Z Nismo, Nissan GTR and Ford Mustang - added templates for Porsche Vol. 1 cars - fixed excessive brake light brightness on Ford Mustang - minor graphics fixes on Triple Pack cars - [Modding] added harvest series function in digital_instruments [KERS_RECHARGE_SERIE] - [Modding] added 918 Spyder-style full power usage series function in digital_instruments [POWER_918] - Added PACKER_RANGE_HF and PACKER_RANGE_HR for heave springs packer settings in setup.ini - Packers now use bump stop rates Source: Assetto Corsa forums UPDATE://1 - Posted October 26th, 2016 @ 19:00 pm GMT
  10. Steaming Ahead With Next Porsche Pack Info The first Porsche Pack for Assetto Corsa isn’t even out yet but through another appearance on Steam it is likely we may know the content of not only the next pack but all of them, including their release dates! Brought to our attention by tduck member Kelvjy (cheers ears!) and found on the official Assetto Corsa forums, it looks like content updates have been posted to Steam detailing what their intended contents will be, together with 'work in progress' renders of the models to come. Posted along with their intended release dates, the two packs contain more iconic Porsche machinery such as the ludicrous 962c and the modern day track monster of the 911 GT3 RS. In what would have been a nice surprise, Porsche Pack Volume 2, listed with a release date of November 22nd, will again include 7 models but in 9 configurations as the 718 Boxster and 962c come in two versions as seen below. Porsche Pack Volume II – Contents (non-confirmed) Porsche 911 GT3 RS Porsche 718 Spyder RS Porsche Cayman GT4 Porsche 718 Boxster S Manual Transmission Porsche 718 Boxster S PDK Porsche 919 Hybrid 2015 Porsche 911 GT1 Porsche 962c Long Tail Porsche 962c Short Tail To end the year off, the Porsche Pack Volume 3 is down for December 20th and puts more of an emphasis on the racing pedigree of the famous marque. Featuring 7 models, the focus on modern day racing cars is clear with the inclusion of the entire 991 GT3 racing line and the latest Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid. Porsche racing isn’t just about the now and this is shown no better than with the incorporation of another racing legend, the 917 K and the perhaps lesser-known 908 Lang-Heck. The last of the three packs is also set to deliver one of the most wanted road cars that Porsche offers today. Even if you have the money for it there is no guarantee that you will get one. Produced in only 1000 units, the 911 R harks back to the older philosophy of it being all about the car, driver and the open road. Not so much a track-attack car but one for hitting everyday roads and just enjoying the thrill that driving delivers. How this will and can be put across in the game is something that will be interesting to see. Porsche Pack Volume III – Contents (non-confirmed) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 R 2015 Porsche 919 Hybrid 2016 Porsche 908 LH Porsche 917 K Porsche 911 R As pointed out by some however, there are some favourites missing such as the Carrera GT and 959 but with a case like this there is always going to be something missing when you don’t have 100% of the back catalogue being distributed. Personally I am impressed with their selections and the configurations being included too. It seems a shame that this has happened and as much as Kunos Simulazioni would love to make it all go away, that is just not going to happen and it is all out there. We are still missing some images of those from Porsche Pack Volume 3 but those will come in time with the more typical teasing that AC and especially Marco Massarutto has become well versed in. Remember though, all of this is subject to change and the contents could be moved, replaced or even removed entirely as nothing has been officially confirmed by Kunos. Either way, they certainly do have some sweet offerings available to tide players over into the new year. 11. We are now only days away from the first Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack becoming available and the media drops from Kunos just keep on coming. On their official Facebook they appear to be in the swing of showing videos and images of each Porsche model that will be included in the pack, however as spotted by top sim-racing outfit Inside Sim Racing, they may have had a bit of a jump start in releasing a collection of images early on the Assetto Corsa Steam page. A number of official images went up showcasing the different models that will be included in the Volume 1 DLC. Since taken down, a number of outlets managed to snag the images before they were removed. The images show nothing new, just better views of the vehicles to entice players to pick up the pack itself or splurge for the very reasonably priced Porsche Season Pack that entitles buyers to all 3 packs for an actual notable discount. Still no word on the PS4 and Xbox One releases but it is hopeful that they will not follow too long after the PC which will see the pack become available on Steam from this Tuesday, October 25th. 12. Work, you damn nag! The internet may have went nuts due to a cyberattack earlier this week but before that, Rockstar made it go equally as ballistic with their casual drop of artwork, hinting strongly at something to do with a new ‘Red Dead’. Sticking to the typical Rockstar way of doing things, a couple of teaser images were released one after another on Sunday and Monday, then on Tuesday another image was dropped, this time with the title Red Dead Redemption 2 stamped on it, putting to rest what the next game in the series will be called. With a tentative release date set for ‘Fall 2017’ (that’s Autumn for everyone else) and text scrawled at the bottom about a trailer to come on Thursday the 20th the internet quite rightly went into a frenzy. The day of the trailer came and even though it is short and doesn’t show much about the story, we certainly got a damn good eyeful of how the game will look, and it is glorious. The previous RDR was a stunning looking game and this one will be no different in that regard. Unfortunately it looks like Rockstar enjoy angering the PC contingent of players though as the game has only been announced for PS4 and Xbox One at this time. Chances are good that there will be enhancements for the PS4 Pro and maybe we will also see something done for Microsoft’s Project Scorpio. But why ignore the PC? Optimists may think perhaps Rockstar are going to remaster the original RDR and have a complete collection out for PC a year or so after but if there is one thing known about that game it’s that it was basically cobbled together and is quite a mess, and so to redo a version for PC would be a momentous undertaking, however if there is one mob crazy enough to do so, you could easily imagine it to be Rockstar. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that the online aspect will be a huge focal point of the game either, GTA Online essentially prints money for Rockstar (as if the series doesn’t do that enough itself) and so expect to see that same sort of plan of action make its way to RDR2. And as long as the grind isn’t too much, I say, bring it on!
  13. Assetto Corsa - Porsche Pack 1 After so many months of constant teasing, general winking smilies and a blurred group shot from Marco Massarutto on his Facebook, a release for the first Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack is known!! Coming on October 25th to Steam and shortly afterwards on PS4 and Xbox One - whenever Sony and Microsoft approve it - the first of the much-anticipated Porsche packs will contain 7 top models from those of today and yesteryear. Purchasers of the pack will be able to sample in the delights of the legend that is the iconic 911, in the manner of how it is available today, to the absolutely insane 917/30 Can-Am racer. And that purchase is incredibly reasonable too, as the pack itself will set players back a respectable sum of only 6.99 EUR across all platforms. I've said this before and it's true, it would have been so easy for Kunos Simulazioni to overcharge for the pack and it is refreshing to see a developer price their content at a value more befitting of what is being provided to that of which came with the game originally. In fact they even go one step further, and are offering a Season Pack for the 3 Porsche Packs at a discounted price of only 15 EUR, a 28% saving on buying them all separately. For someone who is not a fan of DLC at stupid prices I cannot help but applaud Kunos for this approach and hope that it is hugely rewarded by the playerbase. Porsche Pack Volume 1 - Contents 911 Carrera S 935 Moby Dick 918 Spyder Cayman GT4 Clubsport 718 Cayman S 917/30 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 1974 And even for those out there who don’t buy DLC, they will still get a chance to partake in the Porsche party because of the three models that are coming for FREE. And again because of Mr Massarutto, we know that the first of these to come will be the Panamera.
  14. Forza Horizon 3 Oct 14th Update A new update has been released for Forza Horizon 3 on PC and Xbox One that includes many stability and performance improvements for the Windows 10 version. It’s been a bit of mixed bag in terms of how well the game has run on people’s machines and for those who suffered frequent slow-downs or even crashes they will be hoping that this update remedies the issues they have faced. And if it doesn’t? Well performance and stable operation is a “top priority” for Playground Games and Turn 10 so future updates may be the ‘one’ to bring the fix. Away from the technical tweaking and bug fixing there is also the introduction of new ‘Horizon Edition’ vehicles to the level-up Tombola spins, replacing the previous versions that were available. These tuned and modified versions are quite rare and offer players a chance at some easier progression due to the boost to XP, credits or skills that they come with. Other areas have been attended to also: being we are massive fans of the photo mode shots that our members share on our forums and in the Gallery, it is awesome to see that a fix from all of those mentioned below includes one for the blurry image issue that some on PC have experienced. 15. Porsche Pack Volume 1 An image has been posted showing what will come in the first Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack and at first glance it’s a bit hard to see what’s so good about it. Not because the pack is crap or anything, no not at all, but because the vehicles in the image posted by Marco Massarutto on his own Facebook are all lined-up together and softly blurred, making us have to work a little to figure out what they are. Enthusiasts or even a quick Google search of ‘Porsche’ and ‘Porsche – because – racecar' will no doubt give evidence to fairly easily help identify the legends and the current hero hypercar of the Stuttgart based automaker. One Hypercar, two GT cars, one GTR car, three historical race cars. To make everyone happy. - Marco Massarutto via Facebook What is a bit more difficult is deciphering the more known shapes that are common to the models of today. However with a bit of image-enhancing CSI style (with everything being done making a beep of course) I was able to enhance the image about 1.7% which aided me better in being able to be approximately 97.999999% DNA matc... sure of my findings about the cars being shown. Looking at the image and starting at the left: the first car is quite clearly a Porsche 935/78 'Moby Dick' in Momo Kreepy Krauly colours whereas the second car is more modern and due to the blue sticker on the front and yellow markings on the rear quarter it is assuredly the Cayman GT4 Clubsport. The third car is a bit of a tough one, it certainly looks to be a 911 (991.2) and we do know from previous images that this is forthcoming and it obviously makes sense for Porsche to want one of their modern icons to be featured so this is what I am going with. Phwoar is the case for four as it is no doubt the 918 Spyder hypercar, five is so much the same as #3 however it is likely a 718 but whether that is of a Cayman or Boxster I just cannot be completely sure of. It might even be the road-going Cayman GT4 as this is seen in the original announcement trailer above. Six is a Porschephile's heaven as it is the legend that is the Carrera RSR 3.0, this thing should be a barrel (roll?) load of fun due to its feisty handling, and last but certainly in no way at all least is the crazy looking 917/30 Can-Am racer. So for the tl;dr of you here is my belief of what the first of the two three packs will contain: Assetto Corsa Porsche Pack Volume 1 Going from left to right. Porsche 935/78 ‘Moby Dick’ Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport Porsche 911 Carrera S (991.2) Porsche 918 Spyder Porsche Cayman/Boxster 718/Cayman GT4 (not sure between these) Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 Porsche 917/30 And don't forget the free Cayenne, Macan and Panamera which were announced too!
  16. Assetto Corsa Console Pre-order Bonus DLC & JDM Packs The pre-order bonus DLC and ‘Japanese Pack’ is heading to Assetto Corsa on PlayStation 4 and (maybe) the Xbox One this week. Well at least it looks that way as the EU PS blog has the items listed in their coming this week post whereas the Microsoft Store has a couple of the items available to view on their store with only one showing the same date of release as that of Sony. The ‘Prestige Pack’ is listed as coming to PS4 October 6th with the ‘Japanese Pack’ and ‘Performance Pack’ due the following day on October 7th. Xbox One is, at this time only showing the Prestige with a date of October 7th. The ‘Performance Pack’ and ‘Prestige Pack’ were available as a pre-order bonus when you ordered the game from certain retailers and entitled the player to download three vehicles with the Performance and nine with the Prestige. As both of these packs look like they will be up for purchase, make sure to realise that the Prestige contains an extra SIX cars on top of the THREE that make up the Performance Pack. UPDATE://1 - From a posting made on the official Assetto Corsa forums it does appear that both PS4 and Xbox One will receive these packs this week and that the 'Prestige Pack' will be the main one available to buy from their respective stores. Players who pre-ordered and received the three-car 'Performance Pack' as a bonus will be able to take advantage of a "Performance Upgrade" option enabling them to grab the remaining six cars that they do not have. Please note: if you pre-ordered Assetto Corsa then you will be able to buy the remaining 6 cars from the Prestige pack in the Performance Upgrade pack which launches tomorrow too! - official Assetto Corsa forum I repeat: Do not buy both the Performance and Prestige Pack as you will be buying the same content twice due to the cars in the first pack also being included in the other. Performance Pack – Content The below three vehicles are included in the Prestige Pack too! Audi R8 V10 Plus Corvette C7 Stingray Ferrari 488 GTB Prestige Pack – Content Audi A1 S1 Audi R8 V10 Plus BMW M4 Coupe Corvette C7 Stingray Ferrari 488 GTB Ford Mustang 2015 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera Nissan GT-R Nismo 2015 Toyota GT86 Up next is the very well received 'Japanese Pack' that came out for PC a good while ago. Shown in the (PC) image below, this car pack is made up of six individual cars though dedicated Time Attack, Tuned and Drift tuned versions of some of the cars take this total amount to twelve. All the fan favourites are here: Toyota AE86 Trueno, Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 along with the ever playful Mazda MX-5. Sure to provide all types of JDM enthusiast with fun no matter what discipline they prefer. 17. Police to Meet You The roads of Australia are about to get even more chaotic, exotic and perhaps even more respectful with the release of 'The Smoking Tire Car Pack' for Forza Horizon 3. Featuring what we would call a quite fantastic selection of seven new-to-Forza vehicles, this first main DLC pack for the game is going to be a popular one. Within its line up are hypercars, supercars, sportscars, a wily off-roader and even the de facto Police cruiser – complete with optional light bar and siren! https://youtu.be/64srpn7V4BU Whoever is collating these lists of cars for release and inclusion keep at it as you are SMASHING IT!! Starting with the Aston Martin ‘Vulcan’ the auto-makers entry into the continually growing hypercar market you may be expecting something with pointy ears and a logical way of working. Well it does look kind of alien-like but in fact this Vulcan is in homage to the British bomber aircraft of the same name. [caption id=attachment_5576" align="alignnone" width="800] 2016 Aston Martin Vulcan in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] Only 24 of these track-only (boo!) vehicles will be built and if you watched the episode of Top Gear where Chris Harris drove the nuts off one, you will know that its 800 hp V12 screams ferociously. Next up is the lightweight tarmac rocket of the Lotus 340R and you just know from the pedigree of the brand that this car will eat up turns and stick to the tarmac like a super-glued frog to a bus. (huh?) If the Vulcan is out of your price range but you still want something that will blow your mind on the track then this is one of the best vehicles out there to scratch that itch. [caption id=attachment_5581" align="alignnone" width="800] 2000 Lotus 340R in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] Looking more like the legendary Zonda with every new iteration that comes, the Pagani Huayra BC is now looking like it should have done from day one (imo). It’s shape and looks have always been a bit of a love or hate thing and its sound is a far cry off from the ear-pleasing stabbing that the Zonda produced. Nonetheless the BC named after Benny Caiola (I hate Bennys because of Carlito’s Way) who was one of the first customers of Pagani and close friend of Horatio (YEEEEEAAAAHHHHHHH! not that one) will see only 20 models produced. [caption id=attachment_5582" align="alignnone" width="800] 2016 Pagani Huayra BC in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] With all those racing around at high-speed and with no regard for the inhabitants of the virtual lands it seems only right that some Johnny Law makes an appearance. Whether players choose to go unmarked or all out in full police branding, the choice is theirs as brilliantly Playground Games have provided an optional bumper, light bar and siren for players to live out there nofunallowed.jpg fantasies! [caption id=attachment_5578" align="alignnone" width="800] 2010 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] GTA Spano, no it’s not the title of the next Grand Theft Auto but instead a Spanish automaker who decided to create their own supercar and with a top speed of 230mph it looks like they did a decent job. With looks that are different enough not to be called out as copying from others but with typical lines that you will find in other makes, the Spano is making quite the entrance. [caption id=attachment_5579" align="alignnone" width="800] 2016 GTA Spano in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] The ‘Ultimate Driving Machine’ is the tagline of BMW and rightly so as they are brilliant drivers. Well the cars and their handling are not so much those sitting behind the wheel. Reviews for the M2 Coupe are very positive, in fact the M2 gets compared to the original E30 M3 and when you see them together you will know why. Piloting this thing through the roads, fields and in the air should be a lot of fun. [caption id=attachment_5577" align="alignnone" width="800] 2016 BMW M2 Coupé in Forza Horizon 3[/caption] With all that openness that is available it makes perfect sense to have a dedicated off-roader that can climb the steep inclines, tackle the uneven terrain and speed across the sandy beaches and the Jeep CJ5 Renegade is here to make that happen. With customisation this could turn out to be a real gem for everything you wish to do off the tarmac. [caption id=attachment_5580" align="alignnone" width="800] 1976 Jeep CJ5 Renegade[/caption] The Smoking Tire Car Pack for Forza Horizon 3 is available now and is included for those with the Car Pass.
  18. €xpan$$ion Pa$$ Forza Horizon 3 has not long been out and despite being the biggest game of the Horizon series it appears that Playground Games and co know that players are never shy of wanting (to pay for) more. Along with the multitude of car packs that will be coming and the expansions that frequent the series, environment size has always been an aspect that didn’t really get any attention. And it is something you won’t hear many players moan about either as long as there is plenty to do and see then extra areas are always welcome, and it looks like Horizon 3 is destined for bigger things. The 'Expansion Pass' looks to follow in the skidmarks of previous games. Whether this will mean more of the same off-map locations seen with the Rally Expansion for Horizon 1, Storm Island for Horizon 2 or perhaps even a new slice of Australia to explore that increases the size of the original map (store icon shows as a map of Australia with expanding arrows) can only be guessed at this time. Either way, as we said, more environment in open-world racers is always welcome and we look forward to see what route Forza Horizon 3 will follow. If they do go for adding an actual new area to the map, how would this work for players who do not have the pass or have purchased that DLC item? Maybe they just see cars driving through a barrier or something. Thinking along these lines you would have to imagine it will likely be more of the same... would very much like to be proven wrong though. One more thing… those of you with the ULTIMATE!!!! edition will not be getting this included in your purchase. You might however get a discount or you could wait until the 42 edition comes out or something. Unfortunately first-party Microsoft will always want you to pay a premium and more. 19. Free Porsche! The team behind Assetto Corsa continue to tease about the upcoming Porsche pack and if there is one word we hardly ever hear in respect to downloadable ‘Porsche’ content, it is ‘free’. With Kunos Simulazioni though, this is in fact what is happening as by way of Marco Massarutto, the Licensing Manager at Kunos responding to a question on twitter last week, it has been revealed that there will be a Porsche Panamera, Porsche Cayenne and Porsche Macan given away at no cost! https://twitter.com/Markus72k/status/780301766638374912 If above not available click for screencap Of course there will be some who will see this trio as not being true Porsches but they are certainly some of the most popular and best selling. And as PC players have known for a while and those on console have recently found out, big heavy vehicles like the Maserati Levante SUV can be quite fun to toss around at high speeds. The Porsche pack is very likely to be out this month (October) and will contain a number of cars not often seen in games along with the more common beetles.
  20. Porsche Packed It is of no wonder that Kunos seem to be enjoying teasing their community with the frequent release of new media and comments in regards to the Assetto Corsa Porsche pack. Over the past few weeks they have dropped images showing what is known as the ‘Holy Trinity’’ – consisting of the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. This super treble of hypercars is seen as the peak of automotive excellence today. There have also been images of the 991 Carrera S, the rear light of a Boxster 718 and a real world example shown of the 935/78 'Moby Dick' along with an exciting sharing of Porsche Motorsport’s tweet about the new 911 GT3 Cup car. In all there is looking to be a total of 24 Porsches to come over the two three packs, which is a fine amount and will also see some of the lesser known examples hitting the virtual tarmac for the first in a long time or for the first time ever in an official capacity. Being that Assetto Corsa was noticed by Porsche and then asked to create an environment in which to showcase their vehicles virtually, it is a massive gold star to the team and sets up a perfect pairing for sim-racing fans. For once players on all current platforms will be able to partake in the joy of a simulation racer that contains the best that Porsche offered in the past and does so today. Let's just hope the cost of it is reasonable.
  21. The Crew 5-0 510 5-0 We are two months away from The Crew ‘Calling All Units’ releasing and the details about how to go about acquiring it have been revealed. To start off, there will be a full game available just like with ‘Wild Run’ and this will be called The Crew ‘Ultimate Edition’. This will come complete with the ‘Calling All Units’ and ‘Wild Run’ expansions along with the 19 cars from the Season Pass and will be priced at a normal new release price point. For those who did not purchase the ‘Wild Run’ expansion when it released to the end of last year, there is a generous bonus where that expansion will be included as part of the cost of ‘Calling All Units’. Therefore standard game owners will get both expansions for what is basically the price of just the one. (when we say standard we mean those who have not bought 'Wild Run') A good deal! … not if you were one to purchase ‘Wild Run’. That loyalty you see is rewarded by: a discount? an exclusive item just for all of you The Crew devotees? Nope. You get a 2016 Nissan GT-R for free. This vehicle is exclusive to ‘Calling All Units’ but is available to all who play through the expansion, so in effect you get a ‘boost’ for your allegiance. Make no mistake, we are big fans of the game and the team but we will always call out actions as we see them if we feel they are either unfair or a bit stupid. Developers and publishers should be looking to how Evolution Studios conducted their post-launch support with DRIVECLUB and aim to replicate that. A little respect works both ways after all and goes a long way! The Crew 'Calling All Units' is due out on November 29th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Source: The Crew
  22. OZ ABOUT THAT THEN! It looks like Playground Games and Turn 10 are onto an absolute winner with Forza Horizon 3 as when the reviews came flooding in they were mainly all glowing. Running at a MIGHTY 90 in the superior Opencritic scoring and currently sitting with a 91 at Metacritic, the game looks to have done everything the previous instalments did so well and expanded on those areas the fans wanted seen to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD1ccSM9qiA Bigger environment is a check, wide-body kits is a check, better campaign progression is a check and the main one of all – having a Reliant 3-wheeler in the game gets the biggest tick of them all! Throw in the supremely creative 'Drone' mode and you got a studio that not only looks at what their players want, but has a look around at the world and considers what they might ask for next. Early media from those lucky enough to have gotten their hands on the game is looking incredible and the impressions, well they cannot help but rave about it. As a racing game mental case, I have always seen the Forza games as the Xbox system seller, and now for the first time for the 'Horizon' series, the game will also be available for those PC fellows and lassies by way of Windows 10. Not only that, buy the ‘Play Anywhere’ Digital Edition and the game will be available on both platforms for the one price. Going that route however will mean losing out on a physical plastic case so that might be a problem for the hoarders or those who emphatically like to fill shelves. Looking like one of the best racers ever those with pre-orders are set for a fun (clean) time and those sitting on the fence have probably had their doubts taken away with the landslide of review media now out there. The only ones who really have a tough choice to face are those who want the game but either don't have an Xbox One, or will need to upgrade their system in order to play it. Now that's a doozy! Forza Horizon 3 - Review round-up The following reviews are for the Xbox One version Opencritic | Metacritic evo - No score just a damn fine write-up from the car people. GamesRadar - 4/5 Eurogamer - No score, just an informative read USgamer - 5/5 Destructoid - 9/10 Videogamer - No score (waiting for online play before scoring) TechRadar - Play It Now! Trusted Reviews - 5/5 Expert Reviews - 5/5 Of course there are your usual outlets such as IGN, GameSpot and others but the above are ones I personally look to more than those. Hell the evo one alone would be enough to sell us on the game! A little addition from myself: It's not hard to see that we are big Test Drive Unlimited fans here at turboduck and it seems kind of fitting that the game which released in 2006 and received a lot of adoration from fans of the driving and racing genre for what it offered is, 10 years later, about to see a title do the same thing and on those exact same platforms too. Seems nuts it took this long but it just goes to show how ahead of its time the original TDU really was. Some got close, but they fell short in some ways but Horizon 3 looks set to do it. Just hope the next one to carry it on isn't until 2026!! Excited for Forza Horizon 3? Got your pre-load already under way and just waiting for the day you can start playing? Looking for a place that enjoys their driving and racing games and enjoys sharing their media and opinions about them? Well come on in and join us on the forums and enjoy the warm laid-back and slightly insane community that we are known for, here at turboduck.
  23. Assetto Corsa Console Update A new community blog posted by Kunos Simulazioni reveals further details of what's to come in the PS4 and Xbox One update that is aiming to release this month. Along with the previously mentioned fixes for the main issues relating to graphics, control and AI, we learn that the ‘Black Cat County’ fictional road layout and Maserati Levante are also coming with it. [caption id=attachment_5476" align="alignnone" width="800] Welcome to 'Black Cat County' - (image from PC announcement)[/caption] ‘Black Cat County’ comes in three layouts of short, intermediate and long and despite being the ‘short’ version it still takes about 3 minutes to complete a lap of the Death Valley-like location in a sportscar according to Kunos. The dusty and twisty road layout, accompanied with high-speed sections and straights is a nice breakaway from the many closed-off circuits already included, giving players the opportunity to test the handling in a more relaxed open road setting. The Maserati Levante is the first SUV to come from the famous trident fronted marque and was created to compete in the luxury SUV market. And with it being big. heavy and fast, with a top speed of over 160 mph, the Levante will unquestionably be quite the adventure to not only throw about and drive hard on 'Black Cat County', but also everywhere else! Note: video trailer below is the original for PC version No date is set in stone for this PS4 and Xbox One update, but as said before, September is still the aim.
  24. Forza Horizon 3 Demo According to the Microsoft Store website a demo for Forza Horizon 3 on Xbox One is due to drop sometime today! The listing that appears to have sneaked online in the past few days shows the release date as 12th September, 2016 at 01:00 (UK) which is if using 24 hour time, less than an hour from now. It looks to be quite a sizeable one too, coming in at more than 18GB for download. There have been sightings on POS and promotional materials that seem to mention a demo sometime this week, but it would be excellent if it was this close. The good thing is, there isn’t that long to wait and see for ourselves either way. Unfortunately however, there is no mention of a demo for PC, sorry about that. Source: Microsoft Store UPDATE:// 1 - PC Demo information Forza Horizon 3 PC Demo? Turn 10 have posted information in regards to a PC demo of Forza Horizon 3 and the good news is, one is on its way. The slightly bad news however is that it will not release until after the game's launch. They recommend players eager for a Forza PC fix to try FM6: Apex which recently exited the Beta phase and became a full version release, as what they have learned from that has helped in the development in Horizon 3 for its Windows 10 appearance. We know fans are curious about the state of a Windows 10 PC demo for Forza Horizon 3. A standalone “Forza Horizon 3” PC demo will be released sometime after launch. We invite all players who are eager to play Forza on PC to try “Forza Motorsport 6: Apex”, available now in the Windows 10 Store for free. - Brian Ekberg // ForzaMotorsport.net UPDATE:// 1 - Posted on Sep 13th @ 00:39 am GMT
  25. Assetto Corsa Console Fixes It may be a fantastic simulation racer for console but the recently released Assetto Corsa is not without its problems. Thankfully however, it appears that some of the main ones will receive fixes along with other improvements in an upcoming update for PS4 and Xbox One. The core of these that have been mentioned in a Facebook post by Licensing Project Manager, Marco Massarutto, is the ever irritating screen tearing and an improved “smoothness” in the graphics, which hopefully is in reference to a solution for the frame rate dips both platforms experience. Tearing issues have been solved, and the graphics is much more smooth in any situation. The smoothness also gives a better perception of visuals, and allows to feel a better car handling. - Marco Massarutto Reviews and opinions of the game regularly praise the handling but other issues such as control when using a gamepad and the AI being too tough, even on lower settings, seem to often be stated as causes that hinder player enjoyment. So it is great to see that improved controller support and AI balancing is forthcoming also, with the latter delivering new “Very Easy” and “Alien” difficulty levels. Fixes for the Thrustmaster T80, T100 and TH branch of shifters is also listed including the adding of a “reset to default” command which will put the settings to a recommended set of values. Assetto Corsa performs a full rotation of the steering wheel, depending by the car you choose, that actually helps to understand if you are steering too much, since the visual rotation matches the physical one. Said that, we recognize that gamepad users are not used to this kind of approach, and actually it can be weird by an aesthetical point of view. We added the option to lock the visual steering wheel, that will be setted by default at 360 degrees, and it works from 240 to 1080 degrees... - Marco Massarutto Going on to mention that this is only "some" of the things to be found within this next build and that as this is their first venture onto console where they are experimenting and learning the "hugely different" and "more complex, slow and less dynamic" route in how to get an update out on the Sony and Microsoft platforms compared with PC, it is encouraging to see Kunos listening to and responding to the criticism and feedback of their community, and as long as they prove it, the fan base will more than likely reward them. Kunos, according to Massarutto, are hoping to get this new update out during September. Source: Facebook [yop_poll id=8]
