Which laptop to get?

Hey all,

I currently have the Compaq 702ea netbook, but i'm desperately looking to upgrade to a notebook as the netbook runs like a bag of nails when i have a broswer open, with an application or two open as well.

I'd of course love a macbook but I'll be getting a car in 4-5 months time so it's they're a bit out of my price range.

Here's the specs i'm looking at:

- 15" glossy screen, 13" if the specs are great

- £300- £550 or so

- light, as ill be carrying it everywhere everyday.

I watch TV programs on my laptop twice a week, so a half decent video/graphics card would be nice.

But the main purpose would be for coursework, so it needs to be reasonably powerful as i'd like to have a few windows open at the same time, and run resourceful programs such as photoshop.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike.

xD just noticed the fail in ma last post i put Asus instead of Acer :P

Here is a couple now.

Middle Of your budget:

Acer Aspire 5551: Clickage

3Gb Ram, 320GB HDD, 2.1GHz Dual Core, 15.6" Screen, 2.5Kg

Top End of your budget:

Acer Aspire 5738DZG: Clickage

4Gb Ram, 320GB HDD, 2.2GHz Dual Core, 15.6" Screen, 2.8Kg

Although the cheaper seems to be better as its roughly the same spec for £100 less the graphics on the top end is dedicated memory instead or shared so much better graphics without taking away system performance.

Will look more for you tomorrow.

How about one of these? :D I'm probably no use but it's just a suggestion.

Anything but a Dell Inspiron laptop, my brother had one and it wasn't very reliable.

Thanks reaper, the lower spec of the two there seems like a bargain, and the case for it looks rather nice too. I think that's definitely a contender.

I'll have a look at the satellite Tom :)

And the screen on that is a bit too small tim, and it offers nothing special to make up for the small screen I suppose. Thanks for the advice about the inspiron though
