This has turned into a bloody nightmare. I recently switched from Vista to 7 and this means reinstalling all your old games. Not a problem, PITA but doable. While trying to activate TDU1 again, BAM! It requires communication with the TDU1 server. Oh wait, Atari shut that down! So I contact Atari support to try and solve it. This is the communication. Somebody please tell me you have a solution, I'm working with fvcking imbeciles over at Atari.

I recently switched platforms, from Vista to 7 and I am now trying to re-stall TDU. I'm having a problem activating the game though and I downloaded the game a long time ago from Direct2Drive. The TDU server is no longer online so I cannot connect to it to activate the game. My activation code is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and the unlock request code is UHQPJ-DYVT3-5FAM9-R5WFQ-97HEX-MS3CC-G6PYR-8HZ42-FZ23. I need an unlock code to activate the game manually. ****Note: unlock request code changes every time.******

Thank you,

J Bauer

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting the Atari Customer Support Team.

We have issued you a new product code for TDU 1: %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

you need to uninstall the game and make a new installation using the key i provide

also make a back up of the save file

If you continue to have any issues, please feel free to let us know.

The new product key did not help me. I cannot connect to the activation server and I have a good feeling it's because Atari shut down the online TDU1 server back in September. I even disabled my firewall and antivirus software momentarily to make sure my computer wasn't blocking the connection. I need an unlock code so I can manually activate the game without needing to connect to any server. I also uninstalled and then reinstalled the game. My unlock request code is CWRHZ-NBB4Q-29TUU-6WVP2-MBLDW-RT6QV-WJX57-JC4WH-2H92. Please, can I have an unlock code?

Greetings!

Thank you for contacting us regarding this issue.

Unfortunately the servers for the game TDU 1 are down we have put those servers off line

and most probably thats the reason you won't be able to connect to the server

That's what I've been trying to tell you guys from day one. Now that we are on the same page, let's move onto solving the problem. Since words alone are not working, I figured a picture should help. See the attached photo to go a long with what I'm writing. At the top, noted in red, is where the product key goes. We've established this as useless without the server but just for clarification, the key is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Now onto the 2nd part, the unlock request code. I've provided this in the first post of this ticket but it will change every single time I try to launch the game. Now what I need, the unlock code to manually activate the game. This does not require an online server. ******Note: I included a picture showing the activation screen for TDU1, I'm not going to here, at least not yet.*****

Now, can you please help me?

Good luck with Atari giving you any help.

I think the only way you might be able to play is by downloading a cracked launcher. Atari is too stupid to resolve this correctly.

Someone told me to download a cracked version. I'll try it and see what becomes of it. If nothing else, this will serve as a warning to anyone who wants to reinstall the game. I love TDU1, that's the only reason I'd bend over backwards to try and get it reinstalled. TDU2 has some cool stuff, but there are aspects of TDU1 that are way better. I'm somewhat shocked at how stupid the help staff are at Atari. No wonder TDU2 has so many problems.

To be clear, I'd rather not download a cracked version when I have a bought and paid for version. But Atari hasn't left me any choice here. This is their own damn fault! If I had the skills to hack into Atari and bring it down to a pile of ruble, forcing the servers to overclock to the point that they melt, I would. Someone needs to teach Atari an incredibly expensive lesson.

Well he did purchase it previously, it's no longer available for purchase and the servers have been shut down, plus Atari doesn't seem competent enough to offer any other help.

In Canada at least, torrenting is only illegal if you don't already own the product.

Not sure about the rest of the world.

Besides. Harley is right, Atari needs to have better customer support than that.

Well a hacked version of the game, downloaded from a site that loves Pirates, did the trick. You still have to activate the game, but not online anymore. The MegaPack I bought still works, so I'm happy there. It's a shame it had to come to this in order to play one of my favorite games of all time, when I have a perfectly fine copy of it. But oh well, Atari is a POS company and has been for a long time. Chances of me buying anything produced by them in the future is slim to none. My loyalty to TDU might be my downfall there, if Atari creates a TDU3 of sorts I'd buy it to see if it's actually an improvement. I know Ferrari Legends is tempting...

I have another update on this issue for everyone. The hacked version of the game worked but there was a bug. When you go to do a race, the game would be stuck in limbo between single player and multiplayer. It kept trying to find a server that doesn't exist. So I returned to surfing the internet for a solution. In the past I hadn't found a solution, which is why I ended up contacting Atari. I've found a website that will generate your manual unlock code for you if you have a CD key and a manual unlock request code. I thought I'd have to get this from Atari but it turns out I don't need them. Got my BOUGHT and PAID FOR copy of the game working, without the help of Atari. So, anyone who plans to try and find a copy of the game in the future or reinstalls their game, just go to this website to make it work.
