Rallycross will come fully-loaded to Project CARS 2 with an array of licensed cars and tracks in late 2017. With superstar drivers and their popping, anti-turbo-lag fire-cracking 600-horsepower race cars banging doors in arenas crammed with passionate fans, rallycross is a sharp, loud, violent motorsport featuring the quickest accelerating cars on earth—0-100kmh in under 2 seconds—hurtling over 70-foot jumps, and battling side-by-side on dirt, mud, and asphalt.

Step one when building a rallycross car? Get rid of the weight. Step two? Get rid of anything crucial up-front because the nose of a four-wheel-drive rallycross car is mainly used for two things only—sucking up air for turbos boosting grenade-like motors, and none-too-delicately nudging opponents out of the way. This is not a sport of delicate manners; short races mean the action is always intense and immediate and the only strategy is when best to get the Joker Lap in.

The engines on these cars have short lifespans for a reason—600hp from 2-litre lumps means highly-stressed components that sound like a pistol-led invasion. There’s nothing subtle about rallycross. Drivers banging-in gears from perfectly-placed gear-levers somewhere at elbow level while locking-up all-four tyres as they dive into a gap that didn’t exist right up until they shifted the car ahead, that’s rallycross in all its crazy slip-angle fun. From the cockpit, it’s all-action-all-the-time; breathless, chaotic, and intense.

Project CARS 2 drivers are in for a whole new experience with rallycross, that’s guaranteed. Guaranteed, too, is the fidelity of the sport in the sim.

A technical partnership with one of the sport’s most legendary teams, OMSE—19 X Games medals, winners of every rallycross championship title in the US, and official suppliers of Supercar Lites rallycross cars —means rallycross in Project CARS 2 comes with complete authenticity.

Real-world Honda Factory Global Rallycross racing stars Mitchell deJong and Oliver Eriksson—OMSE team mates for the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship—have also worked for months as official consultants to ensure not just the physics, but the frenzied feel of rallycross is as brutal in-game as it is in real-life.

Mitchell and Oliver’s Honda Civic will be joined by licensed rallycross racers from MINI, VW, and Ford, all ready to do battle on scanned real-world rallycross tracks including US-based DirtFish, and Daytona, the iconic ‘Hell’ at Lånkebanen in Norway, and the rallycross tracks at Hockenheim, Knockhill, Loheac-Bretagna, and, of course, the track where it all began half-a-century ago—Lydden Hill in the UK.

With small grids on tracks of ice, mud, dirt, snow, and asphalt, and LiveTrack 3.0 ensuring the organic development of every surface throughout a race, this really is rallycross in all its glory.

Project CARS 2 will deliver the most faithful recreation of this exhilarating and unique motorsport ever seen. The only question that remains is—are you up for it?
