  1. Feel so sorry for Toyota. Wonder what happened with it to lose so much power gifting the win to Porsche who takes it for the 18th time! I'm really wanting it to be more a mechanical or technical issue than anything human error as that would be an absolute horrible thing to have to live with and have on your CV.
  2. Audi #7 is going slower than 80 km/h slow zone limit. This has not been as smooth as past years for either Audi or Porsche and we've just hit the 12 hour remaining mark now.
  3. Yeah it's been quite good lately. Watching the faster cars having to negotiate the traffic at the speeds they are as well as while defending or trying to push up for position is throwing up a few  moments.
  4. As long as the safety car comes out during those moments it should be a fun watch. :p
  5. You would hope Porsche has finally wised up to the fact EA really doesn't do anything or do anything for their marque. Compared to what other series' could so, and unless EA is paying them the equivalent of what everyone else would then why do they think it's worth keeping that exclusive agreement after all this time?! There's being loyal and then there's looking like a complete fool when it's evident the deal stinks in many ways and is seen in some respect to actually damage your brand. Wonder how RUF will do if Porsche does become available to the masses though. :hmmm:
  6. Nuts. It is due to run out s**n that agreement right? I remember hearing sometime this year or next was around the time for it.
  7. This is awesome news for many reasons! The main one being that this hopefully means the Porsche license is finally out of the iron vice grip of EA, meaning we will see the Beetles and co coming to other titles too. :D Will need to read up more on this and hope this is the case but if not at least it is gratifying to see Porsche in a proper simulation racer that will make good use of the brand compared to what we have seen EA do with the damn thing.
  8. You knew what you were getting into, just not where you were putting it into. [spoil]if you're sniggering right now, be ashamed[/spoil]
  9. Nice setup! Usually have something Le Mans 24H in the background so will be following along while watching the BTCC over this weekend.
  10. This is getting into strange places I see.
  11. I imagine if it was RWD mate it would not have gone so well. You see how often touring car drivers are unable to save those things when they reach a certain point before they're facing the other way.
  12. The driver of this Le Mans 24H safety car shows why red flagging the session was a very good idea, when he had to keep control of the Audi R8 he was driving in the pouring wet rain after the rear of the car stepped out. Becoming an instant hero due to the control and quality of the drift he performed, it is evident that the pilots of these race control vehicles are clearly sometimes worthy of a seat of the cars that properly run on the track. Well done Yannick Dalmas. You won the internets today! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyTA8nVSP4U Official WEC twitter also has a small clip of the moment. -- update -- The have also posted the video on their YouTube channel.
  13. Caught up on the latest episode last night and I am glad to see the show changing bit by bit and starting to catch in places. The lack of Evans was a blessing but, he still gets to do the interviews and that is probably the worst part with him as he's constantly trying to spur up the crowd at stupid moments and he's far too shouty. The R8 round the normal track was watchable but not so much listenable due to Evans' inability to present his feelings over to the viewer. Then handing it over to Sabine to thrash around Laguna Seca who with her driving -- and the noises she made -- conveyed more how the car was handling and the feedback she was getting than probably her Germanglish could ever do. Kevin Hart was good but that whole 'VS' thing HAS TO GO!! I do like the new lap but I want someone else to narrate it and also the editing of the laps to be more fluid. If you've ever noticed sometimes how the clips jump between sections it can be quite jarring. :oook: Harris, the one and only Chris Harris. As a presenter from what I saw on Extra Gear I did not really rate him, but when filming himself abusing a car. Absolutely astonishing as Clarkson would say. Maybe it helped that the production was fully on-point and that the car made a beautiful intimidating sound but it just felt: this here, this is a car guy. He knows about cars and he enjoys them and best of all he knows how to drive the nuts off them!! From the brief history lesson to the self-admission about his surprise at getting to drive a £5m rarity like the 250 tdf, and then onto its modern namesake around Circuit Paul Ricard with its stunning colours and corners that Harris threaded and slid around alongside the quite exceptional cinematography made for a high-quality car enthusiast piece with plenty of entertainment for those looking for only that. I'm hoping over time Harris can better his studio segments and be more natural in front of the camera as then he will be the full package and this I feel will easily be on par with what the usual trio can bring with The Grand Tour. Onto Reid and I need to see more of him before I make a decision on him. Yeah he can present well enough and in front of the camera he does have a gloss to him, but there's also something missing. I don't know what it is, maybe he's one of those devout F&F crowd muppets or something, but I reckon he is going to eat those words about taking the Focus RS over a Pagani, Porsche etc. I actually liked Matt calling him a Ford 'salesman' and seeing his face when this was done, he didn't look too impressed. :p Finally, onto the sightseeing-tour around London city. This was a good and quite risky direction to go I think, keeping the chatter down to the bare minimum was wise and baiting us about the 'red button' will hopefully result in something explosive when it finally gets a use. Apart from the incredible driving by Block, everything else from the team behind the camera and in the editing room was exceptional. The sound was raw, no need for any music when that thing is roaring like a pissed off Lion and the epic views and camera work with the introduction and ending showed that the BBC really do have a hell of a team who love what they do and know how best to do it. (did feel a view from atop the bus was missing though! :cheeky:) As for Matt's presenting technique. I wholly agree with what has been said, not only here but around the webiverse and that is that he needs to lighten up, not be so stiff and actually use his voice. It's only the third episode though and the first of where he been the point man so to speak. I really don't get the disdain for the new Top Gear. I just think some people were so stuck in their Top Gear is Clarkson, Hammond and May that anything else no matter how good, will never be good enough for them. And that's a shame, as they are missing out on some damn fine automotive entertainment. Stay tuned for the next chapter, next week!
  14. I'd love to start seeing proper future cars on the roads. Not sure about the wheel surroundings though.

    CLR goes CLS

The car is mint as is, different wheels could make it even ...mintier? All the same though, this is one of those cars you would walk out into a car park, street etc and be proud that it is yours. Can even imagine there's maybe moments where sometimes he cannot believe it is his and nearly walks past it.
  16. This is clean for that type of Subie. Cannot help but see a smugness in the style of this car, but unlike most, it gets a pass as it's very well deserved.
  17. Going for a paid subscription didn't work out well for them last time, so not sure I can see them doing it again. This is MS though and they are forking out $26bn for LinkedIn so you never know.

    A Wafty Shed

You've been hanging around cal too much. :p I do remember these being great to get into after a night out though, so smooth, helped keep the vomit down.
  19. The size of the environment - due to other titles we know all too well - is always a point people make but, don't forget the handling in the Horizon games is usually very good and that for me personally, outweighs a massive environment with dodgy handling. The attention to detail and amount of cars is also a massive plus! With every release they keep bringing more and for a title on a 2-year release cycle, that is mighty impressive.
  20. Most memorable music from my time playing racing games is NFS III Hot Pursuit and Gran Turismo. No other games have really made me focus on the music like those two. Could probably throw Wipeout in there too now I think about it. :p
  21. Now this very likely is the game many of us have been wishing and waiting for!! It has everything near enough of what has been asked for over the years and now, incredibly, it appears that it will all be in the one game! * Huge environment * Decent handling * Great sounds * Amazing visuals * Quality photo mode * In-depth customisation * Detailed livery editor And PC plods get to join in too!
