  1. Meh. At this point I may as well make a new replacement turbo whine. I'll start working on it. Expect it to be posted in around a week or two. EDIT (12/01/2009): Gah, I don't think I'm going to have this done real soon. I'm pretty much swamped this week, and it's going to take me a while to find a source sound. I'll start working on it, but don't expect it right away. Sorry. I'll post it once it's finished. :)
  2. He means that you'd have to somehow track down the one person he sent it to and get that person to send it to you, or do something even more difficult. In other words, that's not happening. ;) Anyway, this tool is looking great so far. Too bad I'm not going to be able to use it, because my profile is online and I'd be kicked. Again, looks awesome, though.
  3. It uses both. Transwhine_something plays continuously and is most audible during interior view, while turbo2 "spools up" like a real turbocharger. If you don't want the gear-shift-down sounds but just the replacement turbo whine, unzip the replacement Common.bnk using Djey's mod tools and extract only the turbo2.wav, then put your old common.bnk back in (make sure you still have it backed up), and import it.
  4. Must be a replacement turbo whine sound. There were a couple of those floating around a year or so ago, around when I had originally released the F40 sound. The turbo whine sound is in Common.bnk and can be replaced pretty easily, if you have a replacement. In the meantime, I can't think of any mods for that right now which are still available. If I find one, I'll tell you. EDIT: Here is one - http://forum.turboduck.net/showthread.php?t=3757 This is probably the one in the video. If it's the one I had seen earlier, it makes the turbo noise way louder. You need the turbo2.wav file in the common.bnk in one of those archives. Warning: this will affect all of your turbocharged cars.
  5. Thanks for the superchargerless version, I'm adding it to my game right now
  6. You're using the mod on the F40, right? If so, and if you haven't made the F40 N/A (no turbo) with Djey's mod tool, then the turbocharger sound should be there. That's the standard turbocharger noise that's completely separate from the actual engine sound, because I never added in an extra turbo sound on top of that. Go into DJey's mod tool 1.11, if you have it, and change the car you have the sound mod on to Turbo under Physics Settings. That should fix it.
  7. Near the paint shop, once you reach Pro level, there should be a race that's G-class only. Buy a G-class car, probably the Corvette Stingray or the Lamborghini Miura, and beat the race. If you haven't reached Pro level, then you won't be able to find it. If you have, the race should be a little bit southeast or northeast of the paint shop.
  8. I second the post above. Sometimes I like added-in supercharger sounds, but in this case, it doesn't help much. Other than that, this sound is great. :D
  9. Whoa... holy frak. This is amazing. +rep.
  10. Thanks :) I'll have it posted once I remember my MediaFire password (FileFront is lame and I somehow couldn't log in once I made an account there). EDIT: It is here - http://www.mediafire.com/?mto2mmbz1iy
  11. Actually, that's the one I made. I use that exact same mod. I ripped those sounds from the Lister Storm in GTR2. My modding website went down (it was on GeoCities and GeoCities closed), so I'll reupload that once I get a chance. When I made it, it was actually intended to be temporary, but I liked it so much that I stuck with it and posted it. Dang, I'm gonna have to post a thread for all of my older sound mods >_> (it's from April 2008)
  12. NASCAR is, first and foremost, an endurance sport. And a sport involving team coordination. And, much like drag racing, a sport involving pure mechanical luck. Games simulating NASCAR have none of these factors, therefore NASCAR is only really fun in real life. Hypothetically, that is. I personally don't watch NASCAR, despite living in a NASCAR-fan-heavy area. If you said the name of a NASCAR driver, I could tell you that he's a NASCAR driver, but that's about it. Drifting is an entirely different ball game - er, game. Huge amounts of coordination, practice, and skill are needed, and the car used matters a lot more because cars vary more in drift racing. It's more like GT or rallying in that regard, but then you throw in the even greater variety of cars... well, alright, it's pretty much like no other motorsport.
  13. Ferrari, because the only real comparable Alfa is the 8C. In other words, +1 to DriftNismo. Besides, the F40 is awesome and always has been. Alfa Romeo and Ferrari have, from what I have heard (I haven't actually come close enough to modern ARs or Ferraris to tell!), more-or-less equivalent build quality. Sure, a Ferrari isn't as daily-drivable, but heck, you don't buy a Ferrari as your daily-driver. ;) Besides, aren't a large percentage of AR's cars either FWD or AWD and V6-powered these days? Sounds like an army of Maxima clones (V6 means nothing to high-grade performance if you're running FWD!). The only Alfa I'd consider comparable to Ferrari or even to Maserati is the 8C; the Brera is close.
  14. Nissan 240Z Toyota 2000GT Ferrari 308 Lamborghini Countach Charger RT Vette Stingray Ferrari 365 Daytona Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale ...and I can't think of any cars from earlier than that.
  15. This list, like many other articles I found on MSN's auto page after a cursory search, smells tampered-with. The ACR won't be a classic, but the Viper (base) probably will. Prius? As much as the '93 Ford Taurus (see Onion News) or older Camry, or any other econobox! S2000 CR - see Viper ACR, because the limited model isn't that impressive of a jump. All in all, this list - in many ways - seems to focus on either newly-incoming models or soon-to-leave models. I'd add the G8 to the list, mostly because they're going to sink into place in history as simply a short-lived, initially fortunate quirk of marketing, despite their commonplace nature in Australia as the Commodore. Also, the Nissan GTR deserves a spot on their list (yeah, I know, cliche at this point).
  16. Toyota Sera. I happen to have seen that exact picture before, so I guess that's kind of unfair xD
  17. This is amazing work. I look forward to seeing how this one turns out. :) I will probably replace my AP2 (with strange-looking ProStreet interior) with this, once it is finished and released.
  18. You know, I was actually about to request the M15, but then I saw this thread. I concur. I'd like to see an M15 / M600, because it's so awesome  Only thing is, though, that your first picture is of the M15 and not the M600, and apparently they're different in some areas. The Noble M600 actually appears to be more similar to the M14 than the M15...
  19. There isn't. Wait. @ "performance copier": Cool - that's one of the things that I've wanted for a while. :D
  20. I'd like more options for rims (nothing bigger than about 19" though!) and the ability to lower your car a little bit, as well as soft-tops for convertibles / removable targa-tops for cars like the Corvette, but I don't think much else is necessary.
  21. Actually, at the risk of being flamed, I agree with that. This actually is *FAR* less objectionable to me than most trainers that already exist for TDU and are widespread by n00bs already. And, this. Nobody seems to honestly gives a carp about the leaderboards anymore, and the multiplayer races are pretty much empty, as far as I can tell - any damage to be done by such a thing has already been done by trainers, and the game is old enough that this tool may just provide the additional jumpstart that TDU modding needs. Now, the final step in such a process would be to provide a reliable method of adding new cars to the database, much like 2CV's Bugatti does (or was said to do while it was being developed). Hopefully, added cars would show up as Defaultcars to everyone else online, and not end up with a ban.
  22. Now, the real question is, will this get you a BANZORZ online? (No way in heck am I testing that myself without data beforehand.) Hope this doesn't fall into n00b hands. This looks awesome and I'd hate to see it abused. Maybe put something in that makes it so you can only move cars up in class, not down, or something like that. That said, great work. I look forward to its release, even if it won't be allowed here.
  23. Useful for a Honda Civic, Acura Integra, Honda S2000, etc... Sounds are from Need for Speed Underground 2. Download (No preview video, sorry.) I've started a new thread so that people won't have to hunt for it anymore. Sorry about the GeoCities link becoming inaccessible - I'm not going to use GeoCities any more (especially since they're closed :cheeky: )
  24. GeoCities is closed, so I'm going to need a new file host. I'll probably sign up on FileFront and post the sound again in a new thread.
  25. This is... amazing  The interior in this car is probably the best interior of any car made for TDU so far. Flat-out amazing. :) Thank you so much! (Now, to decide whether I want the SpecV or the base GTR... I'm leaning towards the base, because it looks better in more colors than the SpecV.)
