Ye but this is just a temporary closure, it's been closed before in the past but usually it's open to public, also considering there's a public restaurant there (aka not an exclusive flightpersonnel restaurant). EDIT: New update on Paris: the guy who blew up his explosive jacket at the stadium France was playing against Germany actually had to detonate it in the audience. When he showed his legit ticket, a guard noticed the jacket and called for backup, upon which the explosives were activated.

Brussels Molenbeek district is scene of a SWAT raid in connection to the Paris attacks. One or more of the Paris attackers is said to come from here. Enforcing the need for operations like this is a couple of bomb threats on twitter, claiming both Brussel and Schiphol airports will soon be hit by attacks. On schiphol, a flight to Paris has been grounded, and both the panoramic deck of the airport as the airplane itself were closed. Police units found nothing on board the plane, passengers can enter it again.

And here we are, screaming for code yellow/orange/red/purple/black/platinum when there's just another gush of wind in just another autumn like all others... I wonder what a sonic boom would be like there, considering those winds are up to mach 7  -

Mars is still the best contestant for humans to build a base/settlement (even if it's just science or transport-hub), it's better than the moon which NASA also would love to build a base on but is more dead and too close to us. -

It's official: solar winds have blown away most of the old Mars climate. The planet somehow cooled down too quickly, lost its magnetic field and then had the solar wind strip it from carbon, oxygen etc. NASA did confirm though that the atmosphere of Mars is strong enough to deflect solar wind around the planet and to prevent it from ever reaching the surface. Important for future colonists. They've discovered all this through data collected by MAVEN in its first 6 months. Source: It's official: NASA announces Mars' atmosphere was stripped away by solar winds - ScienceAlert Also interesting: the magical EM Drive propulsion system is still producing thrust after having gone through many rounds of modifications to eliminate influences from outside and glitches in the system, and also after having been analyzed by independent scientists. EM Drive is ''radical'' as it doesn't seem to obey the action=reaction principle (to fly forward, you need propellant to be pushed out the other direction) EM Drive is reportedly still producing thrust after another round of NASA testing - ScienceAlert -

Beginning of nearly the end? New cars added to the list, perhaps the living evidence of the story VW had a special department tasked with improving and further developing the ''cheating device''. Source: http://www.forbes.com/sites/lianeyvkoff/2015/11/02/dieselgate-woes-grow-for-vw/ -
Low Rider, High Spender GTA V has been out for a while, but luckily Rockstar decides to update the game once in a while with new content and challenges to make you visit Los Santos again. This time, a new FREE DLC has been released with a strong focus on vehicles. Before we look at the DLC, a warning might be in the right place here for those who play on Xbox 360 or PS3. Rockstar already announced a while ago that they would eventually stop bringing new content to those two consoles because of their hardware capacity. Well, that time has come. From this DLC onwards, you’ll need the PC, Xbox One or PS4 version to play with the new content. Enough about limits, back to possibilities. Enter Strawberry, a lower-class industrial and residential area in Los Santos. Few people live here though, industry rules most of the property here and whoever does live here most likely had no choice. But we’re not interested in Franklin, or whoever lives here, we’re interested in somebody who bought a big building so he could spray the front of it with bright colors, fancy letters and weird characters. His name is Benny, and he is the new customizer in town. You will be introduced to Benny and his shop by Lamar. He will call you to do a mission which starts and ends at Benny’s Original Motor Works. After that introduction, there will be more missions Lamar will have ready for you to invest in ammo for. Benny’s Original Motor Works is a new shop that specializes in low-riders. Don’t look for racing kits or off-road enhancements, this is not Los Santos Customs. What you can buy from Benny looks special and sounds special. [caption id=attachment_3330" align="alignnone" width="800] Meet Benny, the new customizer in Los Santos[/caption] Benny likes to keep his work exclusive though, and you can reach exclusivity easily through two factors: availability and pricing. Yep, it’s not available for every car. Benny's first principle of exclusivity teaches that he only works on 6 cars of which 2 are new: the Declasse Moonbeam (with sliding doors!) and the Willard Faction (Buick Regal GNX). The 4 existing ones you can customize are the Vapid Chino, Albany Primo and Buccaneer and Declasse Voodoo. The cars can be bought through Benny’s own website for prices from $5500 to $225,000. [caption id=attachment_3326" align="alignnone" width="800] All 6 cars you can customize in Benny's shop.[/caption] Then comes the fun and slightly awkward bit. You can’t just drive in and upgrade. Nope, Benny needs a custom vehicle base to start with, hence why you have to upgrade the car to a 'Custom' version. This is where you meet Benny’s second principle of exclusivity: prices that make you pull your hair out. Although in all honesty, Benny prefers cash or credit cards rather than hair. [caption id=attachment_3321" align="alignnone" width="800] Yep, you have to spend this money before customizing a car.[/caption] After upgrading your car to a Custom version, which adds stuff like new wheels and a base hydraulics system, you can start customizing the car. The DLC has added over 30 new wheels which are only available through Benny’s shop, as well as a lot of new ways to change your ride. Liveries with pin-striping and complex graphics, improved sound systems, various interior options, bobbleheads, hydraulics and even a set of wheels the LNER Mallard engineers could only dream of. You don’t have to choose Benny’s low-rider wheels though, all the other wheels in the game are also available to choose, including custom tires (several types of whitewalls!) and the big color choice for the rims. [caption id=attachment_3325" align="alignnone" width="800] Steam engines would be happy to get those[/caption] [caption id=attachment_3319" align="alignnone" width="800] You can change interior designs and colors.[/caption] [caption id=attachment_3320" align="alignnone" width="800] One of the optional hydraulic systems[/caption] [caption id=attachment_3318" align="alignnone" width="800] Engines can be fitted with valvecovers, turbochargers and airfilter housings.[/caption] Thankfully the DLC is not just pure low-rider parts, but a combination of new content, fixes and new features. The Interaction menu has been expanded and now allows for instant purchase of ammo. No body armor though, that you will still have to buy at your authorized Ammunation retailer. There are 2 more new features in the interaction menu, both vehicle related. You can now get out of the car, turn the engine on, turn the headlights on and even choose the radio channel that should be played. All of that as a bit more immersion for the low-rider show-off. You can also open doors, trunks and bonnets, all at a time or independently from each other. That way you can actually show those engraved air filter housings, or that neon-illuminated sound setup. And for a change, these features are not just exclusive to the 6 low-rider cars… [caption id=attachment_3322" align="alignnone" width="800] An example of a custom Primo[/caption] [caption id=attachment_3331" align="alignnone" width="800] Opening cars remotely works on all vehicles you own.[/caption] In addition, the DLC now allows you to own a fourth property. Don’t mix this up with an actual new mansion or something being added, you can just buy a fourth apartment or garage from the ones already available. In my opinion this is a neat DLC but at the same time perhaps a frustrating one. At least let’s put it this way: you have reasons to spend in-game money again. The available options for the 6 cars Benny will work on come in huge numbers so there’s always a combination you’ll like. It’s nice to own four properties now and the Inventory allowing you to buy ammo directly is a useful support in those tight situations. At the same time though, I wonder why Rockstar went so far with all those customization options only to limit it to 6 cars. They also chose a weird combination of those 6 vehicles since there is a van in Benny’s list but not a Tornado or Peyote. I’m also sure a lot of owners of sports cars and luxury cars would like to change the interior colors or add some new engine parts. Maybe this is something that will be added later, if the Banshee, Peyote and Cheetah in the shop are anything to go by. Happy Halloween! The Low-rider DLC also prepared GTA Online for the just-released Halloween update. This adds 2 more vehicles: the Franken Stange hotrod and the Lurcher Hearse. Note that these two are cars for Los Santos Customs, so don’t expect Benny to do his magic on these. The update also adds dozens of new masks and facepaints as well as a flashlight which can be bought from Ammunation. Yes, it’s a weapon too, one strike to the head takes half your health away. [Ed - guess you could say it makes you light-headed!] The Low-rider DLC and the Halloween DLC are free updates for GTA Online only and is for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Ye they are. I don't have much with mere 5 minute videos. Especially the first one could have been an Imax movie (if it wasn't one). I think that's the more interesting of the two to watch for the ''general'' audience, the other one is really specific explaining on one mission. -

Must have already watched this 5 times and still can't get enough of it, an awesome ''I'm-actually-there'' trip through the solar system with your tour guide Alec Baldwin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVIigCMhCZc And now that I think of it, same goes for this one, about a spacecraft approaching Jupiter next year: -

Many estimates of the goldilocks zone borders say Mars is on the outside regions of it, but still inside so still with chances. In its earlier years I assume it had a denser atmosphere for higher atmospheric pressure and increased ability of trapping heat, partially thanks to its vulcanoes. Either gravity used to be a lot stronger in the earlier days, or maybe a large bombardement has thrown stuff up (currently only deep craters and basins have enough pressure to keep water there. Ahhh, our tinfoil friends. :D -

And they announced they want to bring people to Mars between 2030 and 2040... where have we heard that (''in 20 years time we'll land on Mars'') before. Source: NASAs Journey to Mars | NASA It's about freaking time though, I missed out on the moon landing so I hope this generation will witness a similar thing. Might also spark more interest in science again. We need something better than 10 space agencies around the world who can't stop wasting materials and resources in blindly tossing foil-covered cubes into space. -
Only got 4 special models.... a 1/12 SL500 radio control (working folding roof), a 1/18 CLK with working soft top and leather seats, a 1/18 C112 and a 1/12 SLS AMG in dark blue. Combined with the other not so special 1/18's and all other small Mercs, I ran out of space and it sort of ended my rush to get miniatures. I also had 6 non-Merc cars (EB110, Diablo, Viper, Ferrari F1, 964 Targa and Mustang convertible) but I wrecked em a bit as a kid and eventually got rid of em. On pictures below: - The yellow Hyster forklift is the smaller of two I got after completing my half year internship at the R&D department of the builder of those things (Hyster Big Trucks). - The white 635 CSi kit was the first ever kit car I got and made, although I never put all those stickers on it. It's supposed to have the Ricambi Original BMW Teile livery with the ''see through'' to tech bits and the interior. - The small oldtimers, blue/red/gold BMW's and the large old-style city bus are part of a massive collection of cars of my grandpa. Most of em were never for sale as toys but were made specially for companies (because they had them in their fleet) or for collectors of special vehicles, trucks and buses. And the small blue 750 iL..... The one that started it all: my very first toy car, 25 years old.

VW engineers have admitted to have developed the software, installed on cars since 2008. It was made top priority when the EA189 engine was discovered to never be able to meet the emission regulations. German media say it's a group of 12 people responsible for this, including the chief of research and development at Audi. -

We definitely need surprises like this. To spark interest in space again at everybody. Too bad I think this will also spawn 10 million more ideas to send boxes with dishes and long sprites into space instead of landing on mars for a change, but this is the second best thing. -

Post One Random Automotive Picture Per Day
CLR-GTR replied to iLLGT3's topic in Automotive Discussion
How? Because car manufacturers are sometimes lazy and maybe don't have thát many chances to ''simply'' add improvements to a car's security system (only at a facelift or new generation development, where hackers are there 24/7). My local university managed to hack both Lambo's and VW's after finding out both use the very same, miniscule section of a long combination of security code. Why? Why did people plank? Why is a birds nest on the chin considered fashion? Why did somebody think a modern version of Dukes of Hazzard would be a good idea? Because it's possible. That's all. :p- 2,500 replies

Further notes: apparently it's a 4-door vehicle and its said to have a drag coefficient of 0.19, lower than an i8 and Prius and as much as that VW XL1, ofcourse noting the XL1 and the IAA concept don't have mirrors.
