  1. ...I would love to make my own car for TDU, but I don't have a lot of time. We all know it is very difficult to start modding as it requires patience, time and knowledge. I still have files and programs when I was trying to learn modding last year... :hmmm:

     

    Well, you are not alone!

    I would like to learn also to mod cars. I have the needed programs too, but I don't know where and how to start.

    Furthermore I think, that I am unfortunately a person needing someone picking up my hand and do a step-by-step from start to end the first time. :(

     

    But in my opinion every new modder is always a win for the community, especially if she/he will become a good one. :)

    Just rediscovered TDU1, even when the servers were shut down. TDU1 is still one of best games ever.

    Anyway, it's a pain in the a**, that tons of the "old" mods cannot be downloaded anymore, because their links are broken.

    I for myself is trying atm to collect as many mods as possible and to built up a directory for TDU1 mods, most for TDU2 is already done :).

  3. Seems, that Eden/Atari installed/activated something now, that prohibits the Universal Launcher to start online, like described above.

    With normal Launcher, moved back big/map files and original testdrive2.exe I can start online again.

    All fine with the Universal Launcher.

    What was blocking, is the "unlock sticker shop" manipulation at testdrive2.exe.

  4. You cannot use any car on any other car, because they are different in construction.

    For that you will always find on mod pages, which car the mod will replaced by, because of (nearly) same construction.

    For example, Reventons new Viper 2013 is good for the ingame Viper SRT10, but u can use it also on the Viper ACR without problems, because those are nearly the same, but you shouldn't put it on an Merc ML, or you will something like on your pic.

    Otherwise, if you want a Audi A6 on an Alfa Brera, you need to rebuild the car (Audi) from scratch in Zmodeler or similar program.

    I know about Speeders Moddeing wiki, but the tutorial section there is ... fairly empty.

    Well, if I would be a modder, I would start filling it up, but sadly I am not right now. :sulk:

    But I'm very very interested to start a modder career, if I would know how to.

     

    What I think about is, there are needed pictured step-by-step tutorials about all aspect of modding.

    Main themes could be:

     

    • Extract TDU2 (already existing)
    • How to use Universal Launcher (already existing)
    • Extract models of other games like GTR2, GT5 (if ever possible), Forza 4, GTLegends, Dirt2, Shift2 Unleashed, ....
    • Make them ready to import into ZModeler, 3d Studio Max or Cinema4D
    • Texturizing these new models with TDU2 textures
    • Changing textures for inside and outside (incl. number plate, white lettered wheels, chrome)
    • Manage camera view for new models, what to take care about when replacing anohter car
    • Slot system indepth
    • Sound modding from scratch

    Well, all about, it seems to be bunch of work, I know. :cool:

    But, at least in my opinion, I think, the more people know about (excellent) modding, the more interesting models we will get all.

     

    I know there were some tutorials about modding for TDU1, but they are a bit messed up..

    If they are still up-to-date, they need to get reorganised for TDU2.

     

    What do you think about this? :rolleyes:

     

    PS: I already started to replace the number plate with texmod in the past, but at this point, there was no bnk repacker.

    Actually I use the packed game up to DLC2 release, after that I will start again unpacked and make try to make the number plate tutorial.
