down here we have one college (yale college) but it's split into two, the main bit deals with the more academic subjects, (not specifically the academic route of teaching though) such as maths, science, english, DT, music, sports sciences, whatever, most BTECs at grove road (the bit i'm in) are courses that are lightly covered by A level equivalents (there's a AS music tech, and BTEC music tech) and as i said i'm more proficient than the academics in music tech (able to fully mic up a recording session with a suitable array of mics
I think i get what you mean about the idiots, alot of them went to the other bit of the college where they deal with mechnics and electrical installation etc. but AFAIK most the morons drop out of there anyway when child support costs get too high... the courses are still damn hard though, one of my best friends does electrical installation and the calculations he has to do are ridiculously mind boggling.
but anyway, long and short of it...
a proper 6th form? staying in the same building i had been trying to leave for 5 years would never happen, the friends ive made and the experiences ive had thanks to being able to put the crappest years of my life away have made me the happiest person i've ever been.
