  1. Insurance has gone up for my car. And everyone that I received a call from at work today was happy and polite. Apart from one who couldn't book a taxi and decided to ring the IT helpdesk. But londoners, happy?
  2. Far Cry 3 is epicccccccccc!
  3. Finished uni until the end of January now. Only got 1 piece of work to be doing. Shame about work screwing me out of my holiday time though.

Well yea and I'm not shooting my car... I'm still not any closer to figuring out why it keeps flooding. But I have a feeling the floor will need redoing. Shouldn't be too costly though.

Well, I opened the door and he was doing that with his face.

Fixed it.. Well, it wasn't broken in the first place. I just didn't realise it didn't have an auto choke. Once the previous owner advised me about that it started straight away first time, quicker than my dads car in this kinda weather! He also brought round the CD player too and . The speakers aren't bad to say they're older than me but it's safe to say I'll be buying some new ones after Christmas. Oh, I'm also closer to finding the leak. Passenger footwell had 2 inches of water in it with no water anywhere else. Emptied it all out and more water seamed to be coming up through the floor? What is this magic?
  7. A copy I ordered as a present for someone came yesterday. So tempted to open it myself and order another copy.

Had it running again today to move it and it was running like utter crap again. I can't get it fixed up on my own because for starters I haven't got a clue what i need to do atm and I keep getting let down by people who say they'll come and give me a hand. I just want to see if having new oil and enough oil would make it work fine. May as well bloody sell it and get some money back.
  9. I just didn't want to spend £60 on something I could make myself for 1/5 of the cost. My mate is going to lend me his axle stands when I need them as he doesn't use them anymore. I have the wood now anyway, just need to wait till it's light tomorrow to cut it up. And I'm going for A, With the top step being 10" long and each step below being an additional 3" longer.
  10. Still 700kilos... :p I went and picked up some wood from someone I know at the local timber yard. 4200x175x47 for £13. Which is enough to make the first ramp lift the car by about 9.5 inches which should be plenty. Gonna make them on Sunday. :)
  11. Bought some oil, screen wash, sand paper and a funnel so I don't spill oil and screenwash everywhere because I'm good at messing simple things up.

I would've been fine if I didn't let the petrol get so low. Won't be doing that again.
  13. Has anyone here made/got some that are made out of wood? They look like this. -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) -- I'd trust wood stacked(nailed) like that than the flimsy looking metal ramps. A, they're much cheaper and B, they're stronger. But I'm just unsure of the best way to make them for my car. A) |_|____ |______\___ |__________\___ |______________\___ |__________________\ B) |_|____ |______\ |_______\ |________\ |_________\ |__________\ I'm guessing a bit like either of those but with less steep incline. Bear in mind the front wheels are very close to the front of the car so the bumper shouldn't catch on the ramps. Which do you think is best or would go for?

It's alive! :bparty: 1st time I got a few revs then nothing, 2nd time it started, sounded rough and then died out but 3rd time it started, sounded a little bit rough then settled down and idled for a minute or 2 with a few blips in the revs. But it sounds better today than it did the last time I drove it. Just need to pick up my parcel from the post office for my new brake lights and seat extender brackets. Then go to the timber yard and get some wood to make ramps with so I can change the oil. Got some Halfords 20w50 classic car oil for it yesterday, I've only read good things about it on the Mini forums.

I have ducks in the boot yes. Couldn't do much under the bonnet as my fingers were frozen after getting into the car. Sunday will be the next day that I can do anything. :(

Still doesn't work. :( Spent half an hour defrosting all the locks so I could get in. It sounds better each time I try though. But it is -1 and the oil is quite low. Got some screen wash and 20/50 classic car oil. Just need to get some wood to make some ramps and get the car going to chance the oil.

*fills car with rice* The floor lining and carpets were frozen solid. Need to find the leak(s). Also need to find where the floor drain plug things are and take them out for a while to let water drain out. Just got as much of the water as possible out of the car, gonna let the rice do the rest. I think I know where it's coming from, there's some rust just behind the dash in the scuttle panel and I'm hoping it's not gone all the way through as the paintwork is fine on the outside, no bubbling. Should be able to sand it away and bodge it up with some filler. Had a decent look underneath and all the floors look sound, no rust. But the rear subframe is a bit rusty, again hoping it's just surface rust and I can sort it myself. It did pass the MOT in May with slight corrosion, although they said it was the floors which I'm not sure if they were redone.

Or just get the petrol can from my dads on Thursday and drive his car to the petrol station? :hmmm:

I think I ran out of petrol. >.< I knew I should of got some on Sunday as it was in the red using months old petrol. At least I hope I've run out of petrol. Engine turns over fine and it did start a little bit but then stalled again. All I wanted to do was move it to the side a bit so I could clean it, take a few pics and check some other stuff. Don't want to keep trying till I get more petrol as it'll drag all the crap from the bottom of the tank. Gotta wait till Thursday to get some petrol now. :(
  21. I bet I look quite silly in it too. And the spot lights aren't wired up yet. That's just one thing on a long list. Managed to get a hold of a MIG welder off my mate too so if the rust on the underside goes straight through the floor we can just cut out the rust and weld a new steel plate in. Much cheaper than paying someone a couple hundred pounds. Need some new rubber seals for the wheel arches too as these ones are a bit knackered. The tracking needs sorting too but that won't cost much to get done.
  22. I was going to move it away from the garage so I could give it a proper clean today but as soon as I got all the washy things and buckets of water ready it decided to rain, a lot. And then as soon as I emptied the buckets and put everything away it decided to stop raining and be sunny. >.< Was too late to wash it by then though. But I still took a pic. Tada! A 1991 Rover Mini Studio 2 998cc(). Only 2000 were made and 500 of those were LHD. Only about 200 left on the road and another 200 declared off-road. It has the original interior in great condition too. Going to see if I can book it into a rolling road about 10 miles from me as the bloke is apparently really good getting Minis running perfectly.
