DGSotW Hall of Fame Week 39 Theme: Ferrari Chosen by: Automotive Gaming Winner: T1M
-
Congrats to Automotive Gaming for winning last week. * Stick to the implied theme (don't look for technical loopholes) * Images must not exceed 5MB, and be at least 990px wide by 340px tall. * Each person who enters must cast a vote in the same week to remain eligible. You may not vote for yourself. * Winning image must not be of TDU2 as you risk account suspension. * Winner picks the next theme, unless winning consecutively, in which case the runner up decides. * Winner has 48h to PM a new theme to me or another member of staff if I'm away, if they fail to meet this then the theme will be a free round. * Competition is limited to games on all platforms of any age that are classified as driving/racing games. (i.e. FPS games that have cars in them wouldn't be eligible). Please mention what game your screenshot is from. * Minor non-enhancing editing permitted (cropping, addition of your name, etc) is permitted, as long as the actual screenshot isn't tampered with. Just like all these other comps. Week 39: Ferrari YOU MUST VOTE FOR 3 PICTURES 1. Ozzmcom -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) -- 2. illiM 3. mau92 -- OLD IMAGE REMOVED (imageshack) -- 4. T1M 5. Ryzza5 6. Kelvjy 7. robillard3381 8. Clarence 9. Soundwave 10. Loz

Congrats to AG who won this week, even though I had to discount 3 people's votes since they only voted for one person instead of three. I have no idea how to make this requirement any more clearer.

The Holden Cruise used to be made in Korea but in recent years was made locally. I test drove one - was decent but I didn't like the dashboard and the steering was way too light for me. Had good features for the price though. Most recent models are the VF Commodore (local) and the imported Malibu (still haven't seen any). I have seen one Holden (Chevrolet) Volt as well.

Opel did come down here the other year but just recently closed up shop due to not enough sales.

Did I ever say I knew how to ride a bicycle? :jk: The biggest differences are: (1) The weight. Humans are much heavier than normal bikes and can easily dictate how they balance at speed. Motorbikes are at least as heavy as you are if not 2x heavier or more. At low speeds there is no centrifugal force keeping the bike upright, so it naturally wants to fall, which has newbies wobbling all over the place until the bike speeds up. (2) The clutch. Bike speed is easy to control with the pedals. Motorbikes on the other hand depend on how smoothly you can ride the clutch at low speed, and 1st gear is jerky just like in a car. (3) Importance of vision placement. Newbies always look down or at the road immediately in front of them, whereas looking far into the distance is a massive help in finding balance, which is not so important on a normal bike (too young to remember when I first learnt that). My driving courses at Phillip Island and sim racing meant I was already familiar with looking around corners and relying on peripheral vision which helped. Normal bikes also don't have mirrors and dashboards that you need to glance at while concentrating on numerous other things at the same time. I'm a bit busy now but I'll have another look at Used Motorcycle For Sale - Buy and Sell Motorcycles Australia - bikesales.com.au - if you find anything interesting feel free to bring it to my attention in the chatbox or the other thread on this subject.

Well, only a certain type of hoon goes for those cars, which is their main fanbase I guess, and I'm not too worried about them. Not sure what they'll switch to - can't see them replacing the cars with BMWs, etc unless they bring out a cheaper, less refined, performance focused version.

News reckons 3,000 jobs at Holden are affected and up to 50,000 in the automotive industry here. They now expect Toyota to also leave. Holden will remain as an imported of GM cars. New Au government has removed $500,000,000 of assistive funding over the next x years and have supposedly been selling cars at a loss in recent years to compete with the booming Korean market. Government has now also prompted Holden to announce their intentions before the end of the year for the benefit of employees and GM has probably seen fit to close them down. On the one hand you've got buyers who want cheap or value for money cars who buy Korean or similar, then you've got people who would upmarket stuff who buy Japanese or Europe. Holden is somewhat in between - popular mainly as fleet vehicles. We hardly import any cars from the USA either. Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, et al are all rare sights here.

Mitsubishi had an outfit here too apparently

Don't like Holdens Just a shame for the thousands of people in associated industries that will be losing their job. If they're smart they'll be upskilling themselves in other areas and making the switch early (unless they're hoping for a great redundancy package).

Congrats bro Should change your username to NotALone to celebrate  My good day today was spent learning how to ride a motorbike (in the rain, boo), pass the practical and theory tests (got 100% correct) so now I have a permit to ride on the road. Pretty much everyone in the session today were all fast learners so we finished 2 hours early. In 3 months I'll probably book another full day course and test to get my full motorbike licence since the permit expires in 15 months. Instructor had us on the bike early on and for most of the day which was great (numb (wet) bum though). The first exercise of just riding slow had me wondering if riding was for me since I was a wobbly mess, but once we got our vision right (look into the distance where you want to go), and got into second gear and a bit of speed the bike gyroscopically stabilises and it's pretty darn easy. That said the training compound was pretty small and I don't think I ever exceeded 30kph.

Great pics - not sure why you would want to hide those last few in spoiler tags though :hmmm: -
Are those old pics or did you not respray the rear bumper with the rest of the car the other month? Looks great btw. Still waiting for you to tell me where you work so I can come get a quote for my bonnet.

When I sold my PC to someone in my GT5 league I helped set it up for them and setup a Steam account for them also... they've pretty much been playing this nonstop so I'll have to have a look at it one day

Yeah I've just realised I need the Ipod end to be the female type to be of any benefit to me... so I've just purchased one of these as well :fp:  Some speakers only have iPod dock inputs, so this would let you connect an Android phone or any other device to them (in theory) I've got no idea what the other cable is used for since all iPhone already have 3.5mm jacks for your headphones??? I'm also on the lookout for a splitter/duplicator cable for the PS3 AV port, so that I can connect two devices to it (the Elgato and the Buttkicker). Haven't been able to find anything thusfar.
