After being invited to a Gran Turismo 5 racing league last week I'm now is a bit of need of a wireless headset. I'd like something that's wireless and with good/decent (i.e. not cheap n nasty) audio quality & is comfy, but don't know whether to try and spend as little as possible or instead do what I usually do and just grab whatever is ranked highly online... which would have me either getting the new Sony Pulse or Astro A50. If you've got a headset that works with PS3 please let me know what you think of it. The only other requirement is that it doesn't mute the audio from other outputs since I'll be recording. Wired is no good when I'm using the steering wheel (hate the X360 headset because of that).

ATI aren't very good these days. Sure they might look good in a few benchmarks but in the real world I see a lot of ATI/AMD complaints. I'm actually disappointed to read rumours that both the PS4 and X720 are using AMD cards (probably because they're cheaper). Makes me want to wait for the 2nd gen (slim) versions of both consoles just in case.

I don't know all the ins and outs but I think next season performance applies regardless, you could join a different league and still use it perhaps. Should keep things interesting for the next season. We can always decide how much to put into next season at any time depending on how far ahead/behind we get, plus the early birds might have some other advantages by then???

There originally was no Hardcore mode, and they added one (a rubbish one) after loads of complaints... they gave up not long after that. I got the impression the new physics devs were incapable rather than unsupportive (at least at the very beginning). They decided very early on to use new from scratch physics rather then the old vRally/TDU1 physics. If they did change their mind and go back we'd all know about it because of moon gravity. Not that I think any of us would've minded by that point.

But will the TDU2 servers stay online for long... given that Atari has no money... no forums... If it's as easy as you make it sound then why on earth didn't the devs just do that when we were all complaining in the beta and after the release? But if I had to choose between hacking great physics into TDU2 or getting TDU1 back online I'd probably go for the former as well. I've played TDU1 for 5 years and TDU2 for 5 weeks.

Good to have you on board. My biggest concern is that all the newcomers put more resources into next season which leaves us podium-fighters at a big disadvantage then :lol:

... and here are the two main races following on from my last post. Had a lot of fun: For the first race I forgot about cold tyres so I kept overshooting using my normal reference points for braking.

Back in the 90's Test Drive and NFS were arch rivals, the two main series iirc.

Developers make good games and EA have often spoiled them, even if it's only slightly. I'm not referring to any war games since I don't play them. On PC they're forcing us to install Origin when I simply don't want to. That's what led me to purchase the latest NFS game on Xbox instead of PC which as a result has bad graphics (compared to Forza) and lags. When was the last time EA made a game that worked well with a steering wheel and had physics to match? Shift 1 was as close as it got but that was SMS and they're not working for EA again because they were fed up with their demands.

The Elgato doesn't need a gaming PC as such since you can adjust the video quality (bit rate)... after all USB 2.0 would probably be the bottleneck on most PCs anyway (you'd think). So this new league I'm in. Currently they're on Season 5 and I joined in for Round 12 of 13, which comprises of the following: 1a. Free practice on Track A to set fastest lap time for qualifying race. 1b. Quick 3 lap warm-up race on Track A that doesn't have any points and is used as qualifying for the next race 2. Short race on Track B with points 3a. Free practice on Track C to set fastest lap time 3b. 15-20 minute race on Track C for points 3c. 15-20 reverse grid race on Track C for points /End of round If two or more people crash off the track during the first 50% of the race (assuming more than 1 laps) they can call Safety Car and the grid will slow down and allow them to catch up, and the race restarts when crossing the start/finish line (not on the last corner). Penalties are awarded for those not racing clean or cutting corners (i.e. drive thru on the next race) but these can be averted if you slow down straight away and/or give the position back. Here's the first 2 events recorded.. the others are still uploading: Quick qualifying race (inconsequential): First proper race: I had completely forgotten about drafting in GT5 until the last stretch on the 2nd video where I tag teamed with someone to catch up to 1st place. The next two videos (coming soon) have some very good racing in them (after the first 2 laps where I didn't know the track).
