There is only one Gamespy server for TDU on PC. There are many invisible sessions on this server and you will jump between different sessions as you move around the map. Each session can hold up to a maximum of 8 players.

I wonder how many (if any) complained about Shift's physics being too realistic (compared to all their other recent games being pathetic).

Ok - so that's working fine now. If this is the first time you're playing TDU - you will be in a 'tutorial mode' which is offline only. During Tutorial mode you will: Rent a car Buy a house Buy a car Compete in a race Drive back to your house Once you exit your house, tutorial mode ends - and you are now online.

Sounds like the HDD got damaged during your travels. Since the HDD was damaged, Windows couldn't read the files that confirm that your software is legit - so it said that it may not be genuine. The next time you booted up it couldn't even read the files needed to boot Windows. You could purchase a external 2.5" HDD box (i.e. like buying an external HDD, but with no HDD included - you only want the case and cables) so that you can remove the HDD from your laptop, and connect it via USB to another PC. That way you can try to retrieve data from it. Once completed, if the laptop is under warranty, get your supplier or ASUS to replace the HDD. Otherwise, you will have to buy your own new HDD and will need to reinstall Windows and all your other software.

I watched one of the devs talking about the game last night, and he said that any player should be able to drift any of the cars at 150mph after playing for 2 minutes. Great - there's another NFS game ruined :rolleyes:

Hopefully the insurance will allow you to get a similar or better/newer BMW (or whatever takes your fancy). Hopefully they don't make the process too long and bothersome. Sorry to hear about that.

I've seen that concept take place a number of times, but never to that extreme. I'm a member of a certain VW forum (only ~20 posts there).

If you8 recently installed mods - remove them - they can cause the game to crash. Also try different video card drivers. Also try going to Task Manager and killing as many background process that are able to be stopped safely.

As it is currently I'm not a fan of the GPS. If they are only going to have lines for the roads, then I would rather remove the border of the GPS. Most portable GPS units have at least basic colours to reflect the terrain. TDU1 still has one of my favourite GPS units though from any game.

It happens when you install the Community Patch. The police cars that change colour are just traffic cars that have had their body swapped. They will never chase you. This presents a unique challenge in single player missions, as you do not know which police cars are real and which are fake.

That's correct. When you select a challenge - it says how much time is remaining. Let's say there are 6 hours left. You beat the time, then go away and do something else. Within those 6 hours, someone else comes along, and beats your time. Since he has the best time when the time runs out, he gets the money and the win, not you.
