  1. Thanks for the pics. I bought the game cheap on EBay yesterday, so I should get it in the next month or so :p
  2. I can live without exclusive cars in NFS games, but withholding cars from players in a game like this seems a bit wrong. Hopefully there are other ways to get the bonus cars (even if they are in DLC's that you pay for). Nice Daytona pic too
  3. If you play TDU on PC, you basically need to capture your gameplay using an external program, such as Fraps, Xfire, or GameCam. When in game, turn off your HUD for a better-looking result. You will then need a video-editor program to string your clips together. Windows Movie Maker is available, but isn't the easiest software out there to use. You can always start off using it, and then work out if making movies is what you want to keep doing or not. If it is, then you could look out for something better like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. Once you get some practice, you can make movies using TDU and other games like Leadfoot and I do:
  4. I took about 7 cars for a test drive about a month or two ago, although most of them were between $20-30k. You could get a good deal if you go shopping right near the end of June though (End of Financial Year Sales). Mitsuibishi Lancer VR Sportback - Great car mechanically, looks nice, interior was very plain though Subaru Imprezza - Nice interior but very slow Honda City - Also pretty slow, quite roomy for what appears to be a small car from the outside Toyata Corolla - steering was very light, nothing else was overly interesting Ford Focus - pretty boring Mazda 3 SP25 - very zippy, don't like the look of the front of the car, nor do I like the interior. Also very expensive Volkswagen Golf 118 TSI - Great interior, looks alright, still accelerator pedal (not sure if that changes in Sport mode), but also very powerful. Also expensive, but a friend has got one cheap for me, which I might get in a month or two. Ford Fiesta - not bad, but the Automatic version is underpowered. If you can, try to get a car with ~110kilowatts or more. Those with only ~80 are a bit more sluggish, and since you're a member of this forum, I'm going to guess you want a bit more oomph than that :) If I had to give you a shortlist to check out - I'd say: - Volkswagen Golf Trendline (the cheaper model) or Polo (never looked into it, but VW make good cars, so check it out anyway) - Mistubishi Lancer - Ford Fiesta Not all 2nd hand cars are unreliable, if you look around yourself to find a couple of good cars, you might be able to convince your Dad otherwise.
  5. And how many of us have 3D TV's? Haven't they ever heard of patches or updates? Every time I try to start a game on the PS3 I can't b/c there's an update waiting for me which takes ages to download (I know you can ignore them and play offline)
  6. Looks like 2010 is the year of the racing game. Blur Split-Second Veloticy F1 2010 World Rally Championship 2010 Gran Turismo 5 Test Drive Unlimited 2 rFactor2 (maybe 2011) Bring 'em on :)
  7. What about those on the official forums that have since died (and then come back to life, and then died again, and so on for the past year)? :)
  8. I guess you've never had to worry about profile corruption :) Nice stats
  9. TDU2 Beta thread here - http://forum.turboduck.net/showthread.php?t=19327
  10. Hmm, they don't have a GTX 480 in the list of graphics cards. Picked a GTX 285 instead. Applied for PC or PS3 beta test.
  11. If you're talking about buying a brand name computer (i.e. Dell, HP, etc) I'd honestly say: none. You pay nearly twice as much here for such a computer, and you spend the first hour or so uninstalling all the rubbish trial software they stick on the PC (each OEM is a bit different here). What you can do, however, is go to a PC parts shop, tell the shop people that you would like a fast PC that is able to play ________ game at Medium/High settings with a budget around $$$, and they can recommend the parts and build the PC for you (costs about $70 for them to build it in Australia). You can also buy extra warranty for a small fee as well. You end up saving a fair bit of money. Just make sure you ask for a version of Windows to be installed as well (which adds to the cost), you don't want to take home your brand new PC, and turn it on to find there's no Windows installed :) Some shops also have specific kits available where you save heaps more money, but you can't choose each part (i.e. they might have a Student setup, Home Office setup, Media Centre setup, Gaming setup, Hardcore setup). I got one of these for my parents last year, I couldn't belive how sweet the deal was.
  12. Welcome, brave fish Watch out for all the ducks :cheeky:
  13. Someone made an Excel file for TDU1 to compare all the cars in detail, I'm sure someone will do similar for TDU2. There's no real-life car comparer, you pick a car based on your own knowledge from car reviews and tests as well as what you fancy. If one car stands out as being best in class, you'll tend to always pick it in racing, even if you don't particularly like it, and that sortof spoils it for me personally. Show us the car weight, power, torque, drivetrain, etc and let us work it out from there I reckon. Failing that you could always have a look at the Top Gear power lap time board to get an idea ;)
  14. Reminds me of NFSIISE & NFSHP2. If you were going to hit a wall, you could quickly tap the handbrake and you wouldn't slow down nearly as much.
  15. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how new scripts are created. Expect to see the movie based on the last comment in about 2 years (we have a lot of scripts to get through) :p
  16. Nice shots (half of them didn't load for me though) :( Will try switching my router on Wednesday
  17. Interesting, although I certainly hope they don't use GRID as their inspiration for physics :) I'm looking forward to creating a diner challenge via an offroad route with the car restriction set to a Ferrari Enzo; we'll see how many get damaged in the process
  18. +1 for 7 Ultimate x64 (runs better on Windows 7 than XP or Vista from my experiences)
  19. Does it make you go 'wow' (in a good way)? Or is that just hypercars? :p
  20. You also want players to be spread out around the island, not all in the one city/location so that it's easier to find and connect with players. Nice avatar pic too
  21. £90 for a 9800GT? You could get an ATi 5770 for $195 AUD over here. His card might be in the 9000 series like yours, but the problem is the second number, the 4. Those cards are more or less for dual-monitor use in business computers that want to enable Aero, etc. Depending on the resolution chosen, I wouldn't expect much more than Medium graphics settings from such a card. You probably knew that already though. An 8800GTX would be quicker than a 9400GT, for example.
  22. V8 Vantage Zonda RUF RGT Ascari
  23. A 9400 isn't really a high-end card, you should consider upgrading.
