I'm tempted by the curved 34" super-widescreen monitors but there's a couple of problems: * I'd need a new desk - won't fit on mine between the uprights for the top shelf * The Elgato won't record above 1080p60, and ShadowPlay is still flakey in its reliability * Concerns as to how a console's 1080p display would look on it * They're really not affordable :lol:

On CPU merits alone, the i3. I have one in my 'office/web server' PC and it's surprisingly capable. Avoid the Atom like the plague. Even if the user won't be stressing the PC out, Windows and other background apps will on occasion and things will grind to a halt. If it's a traditional laptop, check how easy it is to add more RAM and/or storage space later on. 8GB of RAM will be nice if she wants lots of Chrome tabs open but otherwise I think she can survive on 4. If thee's a spare SODIMM slot it won't be too hard or expensive to upgrade it.

Looking for somewhere else to save riding videos and I stumbled across an old stash of TDU1 recordings. I had to reinstall FRAPS just to play them. Here's a cruise with Dustwave (that Dutch DJ from the old Atari forums) recorded way back in 2011. I did cut a few of the slower bits out but kept most of it in especially for this audience. I believe I am driving a Lamborghini Balboni modded onto the Ascari KZ1.
