  1. It wouldn't be so bad if I was using a gamepad, but because it doesn't match what my hands are doing, it creates that brain disturbance with conflicting signals from your built-in motion sensors (there's a technical term for it) and what you see on screen, creating that nauseating 'uncanny valley' effect, something familiar to Rift testers for the opposite reason (they move their arms but the in game person doesn't).
  2. I feel less invisible riding a motorbike
  3. I will use the cockpit more when they get rid of the wobbly steering wheel animation.
  4. Never mind Driver SF... Or MM1 and Chicago in The Crew. Or every other car game with US-based tracks. I'm sure if I had enough time I could find similarities with many car games going back to the 1990's NFS titles. i.e. NFS3's Rocky track track reminds me of the Black Hills in Midwest. And the snowy version of Hometown is a little like one of the ski resorts. Then of course you have RedRock (NFS3), Colorado (DiRT 2, FH1), LA (Midnight Club), possibly a relation between Detroit and NFS UG2 industrial area, and let's not forget NFS The Run (which you just about complete faster than one of the faction missions).
  5. Working mirrors: Wishing good luck to Ahautz Unicorn:
  6. Given the amount of time needed to build it.... no. :)
  7. These visuals + Oculus Rift + 90FPS + massive European open world + awesome physics/handling/FFB is all we're asking for... I wonder how many years away something like that is.
  8. So not tempted by the 30% off crew credits then? Don't forget you can waste bucks to reset perk points and reassign them as well.
  9. I coerce MadManCK away from boring skill challenges to go find some trouble (fun) in Vegas
  10. Close 3rd person for police chases Far 3rd person for screenshots Bonnet as main Bumper for award points Cockpit occasionally for cruising
  11. For some reason, you can't compare faction mission results with friends or the wider community unlike normal missions and skills. So if you do get around to completing some, think about taking a screenie of the results screen and post here to see if we're all taking roughly the same amount of time. Here's one starting from the Key West Florida. The time won't be great as I took a massive offroad "shortcut" through the trails just after leaving the snow.
  12. Yes and no. Opening a port means you are telling the router's firewall not to block incoming data on that port number. However with NAT (one public IP address shared by multiple home computers/devices), port forwarding tells the router to which computer/device to forward that data to. Most home-routers combine these two actions into the one step.
  13. Your 192.168.x.x (or 172.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x) IP address is just like everyone elses - not a security risk to show it. i.e. you might not want to tell us your home address but not wanting to tell us that you sleep in a "bedroom" is kinda pointless. :) Once you add the rules make sure you hit save and you might need to reboot the router. Once it's back up, ensure the setting is still there and not discarded, then go to a website such as Open Port Check Tool and test if the port is indeed open.
  14. MM2 if I'm not mistaken.
  15. I like my chances of being incorrect ;)
  16. Lol @ the fake location. Looks more like Waverly park. Glad you weren't stupid enough to hang around for a lot more takes and the popo.
  17. Good cruise. Good times. Must do again.
  18. Ok so I decided to have a fiddle with the wheel settings yesterday. I was already pretty happy with what I had but thought I would attempt to apply some grey matter to the subject to make it a little more sim-ish. Take note of your existing settings in case you want to revert to them. Key settings: Speed sensitive steering - turn this off (left side). It's an aid designed for keyboard/gamepad players Steering sensitivity - turn this to 100% (all the way right). Steering linearity - where you place this setting depends on how you set your wheel rotation. Center it at 50% if you're following this guide. Force feedback, in game: max, Fanatec profile: 70% (may differ on your wheel) Wheel rotation - 900 degrees. This provides the most 'natural' steering input without it being manipulated by the game, however handling big slides, bumpy surfaces, and 3 point turns may require extended wheel work and practice. It's a case of being set up for fun vs being set up to be as fast as possible. I only had small issues recovering from pit maneuvers on dirt roads, which as you might expect is somewhat realistic. My previous more arcade setup mimicked my TDU1 wheel settings. As you adjust one setting, you need to slightly tweak the others to retain balance. Speed sensitive steering: up slightly to ~20% Steering sensitivity: down slightly to ~75% Steering linearity: down slightly to ~40% In game force feedback: down slightly to ~80% Wheel rotation: between 540 to 680 degrees. Go lower for more snappy instant (arcade) steering (useful in cities) or higher for more precise and relaxed cruising B road steering. Or just set it and forget it at 600 degrees and call it a day. All of my YouTube footage up until now has been with these settings. Also spend some time playing with the pedal sensitivity curves. You generally want to leave the accelerator as a normal linear curve, but you may want to play with the brake curve for better modulation you want to brake as late and quick as possible for corners but not come to a big stop either. Playing with the clutch settings may help reduce how often you get the grinding sound. It seems that you have get the clutch input to maximum before you push the gear stick into neutral. Finally, here's some footage from physics developer Sebastian:
  19. Insert words that no-one will read here that forms a paragraph just long enough that from first glance seems to be an appropriate length for a description of this video and possibly elicit a response from other members in the form of forum comments posted below. Don't forget there are more trailer remakes here: The Crew: Fan Trailer Remakes | turboduck
  20. btw if we end up with 4 people in one crew you might want to check out some of the Crew and Convoy award points available. Things like combined top speed (oh wait you don't have fast cars) or doing trips from location X to Z via Y, etc, etc
  21. Are you trying to play it on an iPhone or your computer? (What is the most popular PC hardware, and why is it working fine for me and loads of my other friends?) My game only crashes/kicks me occasionally if I go afk for a while which I think is to allow more bandwidth for other players, I just sign back in again and all is well. So if you haven't replaced your dodgy router and opened the required ports yet I'd be starting right there.
