  1. The thing about iRacing is that there is a built-in learning curve to play online. I believe you have to pass a series of tests to play online, and similar obstacles. But you do get to race with very serious racers, at least from what I've heard. If you had some spare cash, I would say pick up an old Spec Miata (or normal Miata and convert it) and do some SCCA racing. But I don't know if that's a possibility. As far as karting is concerned, I'm not that familiar, but when you look at Hamilton and Shumacher, you realize that they were from very wealthy families, and already had connections. Additionally, they started as kids, an age group where it is easier, if you promote yourself, to be noticed as "talented" (the same reason I'm trying to get a book published before I'm 16, but that's a different matter). I guess what I'm saying is, it's hard - being in the right place at the right time helps. -Leadfoot
  2. If I was the kind of person who wrote "OMG," now would be the time to write it! Awesome jump! Was it one of those "don't worry about landing" into-the-water jumps, or is that just a trick of the camera? Very cool either way! :) -Leadfoot
  3. Email. We shared neither our TDU usernames or our GameSpy usernames in the beta form or the TDU2 forums, so individual emails could only be sent to our emails. The only reason we recieved notification was too give everyone still playing TDU1 an opportunity to apply for the TDU2 beta if they hadn't heard about it. -Leadfoot
  4. Just to check with you guys, is anyone still getting the email? Or have they stopped? If they've stopped - bad luck, people. It's a shame, but, no emails. :( Excluding, of course, other platforms. -Leadfoot
  5. I know what you mean. The first time I ever learned that some cars worked that way was when I played Gran Turismo 4 on one of those PlayStation demo things, and the wheel it had was set up for down-is-up shifting. Of course, I didn't know that, so me - proud of my video-game abilities and all ( :cheeky: ) - immediately selected manual mode. And promptly put it into reverse. What I realized what was going on, I asked the guy why the shifter was "the wrong way," and he replied with some answer about "race cars." Researching it more, I found that that is, in fact, how a lot of race car sequential boxes (that aren't paddles) work, particularly rally cars. :) Luckily, my dad's Legacy has it the up-is-up, down-is-down way. I take it the Golf VI doesn't have wheel buttons? Shifting method preferences aside, that's definitely a very nice car - leather looks great, the wheels look great, and the dash, too. I remember seeing the pics with the front all taken apart - looks great now. :) -Leadfoot
  6. Some sites have said 208 (many, actually), so there is a good chance about that. Of course, that isn't including the DLCs. And, yes, it has been said that it will have the same amount as TDU1. Beolex did a good job realistically summarizing the cars, but with the heavy influence on DLCs, it's probable that 208 are already in the works, with the latter half to come later. The simple truth, though, is that we don't know. So relax, people! :) When it comes out, we'll know. And, to be honest, won't we be that much happier when we get new cars as DLCs after the game gets old (as unlikely as it "getting old" is :cheeky: )? -Leadfoot
  7. Do you know the person who's getting that... delivery? -Leadfoot
  8. Cookie - there are children here. :cheeky: -Leadfoot
  9. I remember the first time I'd heard about that truck. It was (and most likely still is) the largest personal-use pickup truck in the world. It was in one of those "over-photoshopped pictures of 'unbelievable' things with wheels" books for kids, and I remember, even at that time, why anyone would want to actually own one. I mean, sure, I admired it for its record-breaking-ness, but seriously? Anyway, today (no camera :( ): -Porsche 911 (probably second generation) with the ducktail. -Bentley Continental GTC Speed -Dodge Charger Super Bee (not to be confused with the Superbird, which had the million-foot-tall spoiler) -Leadfoot (did not see one of these, just signing off :cheeky: )
  10. Liking the ad-style one above, with the pool. :) -Leadfoot
  11. Remember, they are building it for a five-year-old console. The memory isn't such that they can just throw in more and more detail. -Leadfoot
  12. What he's saying is, he would prefer the 355 to the 458 no matter how they tried to change it. :) -Leadfoot
  13. :) Nice pics. Is that CL lowered? -Leadfoot
  14. Very nice, Minime! -Leadfoot
  15. What were the -rep comments? I'd imagine it's probably people who missed the dialogue box. Oh, and how many +Reps did you get? @ TomWin: It's a forum rule that we can't link to (I believe) sites that require registration for downloads. Sorry. :( -Leadfoot
  16. Cool! Thanks for this one! -Leadfoot
  17. The caravans bit will go down in TG history for this season - closest to TGs roots as they've been in quite a while. The guest wasn't that funny or interesting. Not much else to say about that, really.* Supercar test was not bad. *Actually, there have been worse - all the people (like Ron Weasley) who Clarkson asks, "So, cars have always been a big thing for you?" and they reply, "Yes. [i'm filthy rich and] I drive a Range Rover/X5/something stupid like that." Don't invite people on who aren't interested in the topic of the show! -Leadfoot
  18. Why I should get a cell phone with a camera, reason #473: Saw a muscle of Corvettes (that's the word that I just invented for a group of Corvettes) going through town today while I was biking, led by a yellow Z06. Was quite interesting. And, when I looked back to see if there were any more, I saw a racing-team-style parts truck pulling a trailer with both a rally-prepped Evo IX and a rally-prepped Subaru Impreza STI. Why don't I carry the FlipVideo at all times? :fp: -Leadfoot
  19. There was never one. I got backtracked, and then the releases slowed down with Tool gone. Very sorry! :( I miss it too. I'm going to try to do a "renaissance vote" with the cars from May, June and July. :) -Leadfoot

  20. Yay! Powerful Merc FTW! -Leadfoot
  21. Always innovative, Star! :) +Rep for the creativity - keep it up! -Leadfoot
  22. LFS uses fictional cars (with a few exceptions). So, Kelvjy's right: -Leadfoot
  23. Was about to say the same thing. It's most likely a traffic car, but it could be a police vehicle. :) -Leadfoot
  24. How'd you get your video card's temperature to display? I tried that widget (I think it's the same one) and it told me to change something in RivaTuner, but I couldn't find it. :( -Leadfoot
