WEEK NINETEEN

Rules:

  • Photo MUST be taken by you.
  • Any post processing allowed.
  • No Voting for yourself!
  • Photo sizes kept to 800x640 maximum. No thumbnails please. Your photo will not be entered if it exceeds this.
  • Winner chooses next theme (by PMing me). If someone wins twice in a row, the person they voted for chooses the next theme.
  • If you post many photos, the top one will be chosen as your entry, but you have until the closing date to choose.
  • Photos cannot be used twice for two different subjects.

Tell me if I've missed anything, thanks!

I ask for this contest to be a trigger of intelligence and creativity, and not just a fluke you got years ago. Please go out and take photos, not just take them out of your archives. Thanks.

Well looks like I won. Great photo in close second from Mb though! Hmm, what shall I have this week...?

This week's theme:

Light

Light is a wonderful thing. So play around with it. Use anything to reflect, refract etc light. Be creative!

Closing Date: 15th March.

Good luck!

I will make it clear, It would be much preferred if the subject of the photo was light, and as I said, to make people go out and take photos for the theme. I may want to set a rule whereby you must take the photo during the contest time, which means that there will be no 'finding flukes in your archives'.

HTF I said I was thinking about introducing that rule. Enter what you like, but I think that this contest should not be any different from things like the PTOTW one by which you [should] take the photo after the theme is set. Taking photos to a theme is harder and more developing that matching that theme to a photo.

Great pic HTF! I don't know how you managed to get the lens flare, but it looks good! You could probably stand a better chance by editing basic elements like contrast and colour saturation though. Then the picture will REALLY pop!

Thanks for the compliments CF and Bobby... :D I might try editing it, but I've never done this kinda stuff before, so I'll see what can I do ;)

EDIT: I've added some contrast to it, I think it looks a bit less "milky" this way... what do you think?

Had a go at editing yours HTF. I want to see what you think.

Only a 5 minute job but this shows the capabilities of Photoshop. ;)

The annoying thing is, you saved the photo in Paint which drastically lowers the quality and doesn't give a very good base to work on in Photoshop so this is about all I could come up with.

(Linked. As it is too large in filesize to be embedded.)

Thanks, I think it looks good :D What parameters did you adjust? But I didn't save it in Paint... I used Paint.NET ;) I still have the original picture, so I might try GIMP for resizing and see if it's any better ;)

EDIT: I tried GIMP, and I think it's much better for resizing than Paint.NET... I'll use it from now on :D The pic is now a bit smaller, but better quality... and it's exactly 350 KB :p
