Can anyone tell me if this will work?

Most people say to connect a PS3 to a VGA monitor we need a conversion box.

If i convert HDMI to VGA directly it wont work, because one is digital and the other is analogic.

I do have some VGA to DVI converters here at home, a small part, which i used to use to plug a VGA monitor to a graphics card with DVI ports only.

If i convert the HDMI to DVI, then plug it into that little part to convert DVI to VGA, would it work on my monitor? :p

Nope.

 

DVI can carry both analogue and digital signals iirc but it can't convert between the two. It would try to pass a digital signal to the VGA cable which wouldn't work.

 

Not 100% sure though. If you have the adapters already there's no harm in trying I suppose.

If you've got something else with HDMI-out try that first. Doubt it will work though. Buy a new monitor xD
