Netgear Router help

I have sky broadband and I've got 2 routers, 1 for the pc and 1 for the xbox.

 

Here's my problem, the router that i use for the pc no longer works properly but it is there and has a connection. When I go on network connection and check the status it comes up with the IP address, gateway address and the subnet mask but I cant connect to any websites or even the router and the gateway on the network connections doesn't come up, but it says there is a connection there.

 

so here's the confusing bit, the router that doesn't work what so ever with the pc works with the xbox albeit very laggy and slow.

 

So can anybody help me here because i need both routers or i cant go on xbox live

just get a wired belkin router and run both xbox and pc through the one router, i really really cant understand why you need to run em seperate (makes no sense) ....

 

all you need is...

 

isp > modem > router > -4connections via ethernet !!!

I run them separate because they are at opposite sides of the house

or 25metre ethernet cable for about 7quid route it under floor boards !!!

The signal is really bad from the router to the pc if i use wireless

well fella you got two more options....

 

1) check make sure you havent changed any of the faulty routers settings & and try for repair/replacement

 

or

 

2) buy new router :)

What razor said really, get a really powerfull wireless one which should hopefully sort it out, only way to go sensibly when you have two things the other side of the house, shorly?

1) I didn't change the settings because i didn't need to and I ping the router and get no response and we already had a replacement a few months back

 

2) I'm skint because its Christmas

well fella my help has been exhausted...

 

short of paying for your new router, not much else i can do for you. tell your mother that if she wants to have all this tech around the house and in working condition, she needs to pull out the purse and splash a bit of cash :)
