I really needed (for a long time!) a good muscle V8 sound for the GTO, this is just right for it. I already had one for the Z06 and wanted the GTO to sound a little different so this works great, Thanx! All I did was change the idle with the previous 'Titanium' exhaust version to get that nice idle exhaust girgle.

released TDU - New Grass and New Sand by ACE8
madpioneer replied to Ace8's topic in Environment Mods
I like this mod, experiencing the same black lines as everyone else. I thought the pros outweighed the cons but the more I drive the more I realize that the sand mod also changes the hill textures. They all look like sand instead of more rock like. Also more blooming on hills plus more black patches. So I am thinking of just using the grass mod alone and going back to the original ground texture, even tho I really like the way the sand looks! Hopefully it can be addressed but I am thinking this is the best it can get? -
Car Spotting: What You Saw Recently!
madpioneer replied to The Queen's topic in Automotive Discussion
70's Pantera (red) on Friday. Had a chrome air cleaner right in the rear window area, not sure if the owner put a high rise manifold on or what? Was not showroom condition, but looked nice. Did not have the DeTomaso package on it. Really wide rear tires, even more so than a Corvette, more like a Viper. A rare site these days. I have only seen three here in 20 years! Of course I did not have my camera and I was navigating traffic so would have been impossible to snap a shot..... -
Got this for PC. Game has a lot of cues from the GTR series on PC. No it does not have total sim like car physics but I can tell alot of similarities to GTR in the way you drive the cars. Since some of the team that designed the GTR series worked on this go figure, but I was not expecting just how much it does favor GTR. When your car slides off the track and you hit the traps your car shudders and shakes just like in GTR. The physics are not as forgiving as GRID, you have to use your brakes to slow down for a corner or turn in Shift. In GRID you can take corners at pretty high speed and only fishtail slightly (depending on your traction settings). In Shift you will slam into walls if you try to drive like you do in GRID. To me it's what I wish the graphics looked like in the GTR series. Are they the best? I would so no, but I like them better than Pro Street & Undercover! If they could take the GTR series and have graphics like GRID I would be overjoyed! I think it should have just been called Shift without the Need For Speed title, but that's just my opinion.

Going back & forth at the moment wether to get it for PC? I heard some of the team that has developed Simbin's GTR series worked on this game? Hence the somewhat sim approach to the car physics (but still arcade). But every review and comment I have seen/read states that the physics are more arcadish not a sim which is fine by me. I am hearing it's one of the better NFS games for many years. I like GRID, & Dirt 2 alot so if the physics are anything like those I would enjoy it. The close ups of car vinyls in GRID are the same low-res so that would not bother me at all. If it looks and plays anything like GRID I will be all over it!

I am an old school type of guy, and try to get things on the cheap because I have only one income and need to budget myself. Here are my humble specs, some will probably be surprised I can even run the games I have: Dell 670 Precision desktop (given to me!) Proccesor: Intel XEON 3.6 GHz 2MB 800 CPU 3600DP SL7ZC (single core) 4 gigs of standard 670 compatible DRAM (not anything fancy like Corsair stuff) EVGA GTX 280 SSC video card 120 gig standard 670 HDD 1 TB Hitachi HDD using standard 670 built in sound hardware (no surround cards) 670 comes standard with 650 watt power supply. installed high air flow 120 volt fan to extract hot air (has it's own 120v power cord) 24" LG LCD Monitor Pioneer micro 80 watt CD-Amp with two mini speakers in wooden cabinets. Yamaha self-powered sub-woofer Logitech G11 keyboard Logitech G25 Logitech Wingman flight stick Bargain type no-name wireless mouse (works great!) Walmart narrow type black and silver computer stand Goodwill aquired computer leather chair :eek2: Until I can get a new one purchased or built. Believe it or not can run the following: GRID in Ultra mode everything high! Sega Rally Revo all at the highest settings! TDU no surprise at the highest settings Richard Burns Rally-highest Xpand Rally-highest NFS-Most Wanted-highest Carbon-highest Joint Task Force-highest COD 4-highest COD WaW-highest Crysis-mixed settings med/high others too...etc... ones I have trouble with: Dirt The games do hesitate (frame rate drop/tank) for about a 1/2 second during gameplay from timt to time:confused:. I attribute this to the out of date processor. So one day I will get a new comp with either a duo or quad core and further hardware enhancements.

I see alot of complaints and speculation all over the web once a new game is announced or for that matter NOT announced. Way before there is even any real info or video representations of what the finished game may look or be like. Complaints all over the place for Dirt2. I for one am looking forward to it's release for PC (supposidly delayed till December!!!) Some complain Dirt2 will be too arcade-ish and want someone to release a REAL sim rally game, others could careless about a simulation game. Some want this car others want that one in the game. It gets mind boggling at times! It's just a game, some act like their lives depend on it coming out just a certain way to only their tastes or satisfaction. I like both arcade & sims, more-so for arcade type games. I seriously doubt the new Dirt will be a graphically enhanced Richard Burns Rally game. It will more than likely be closer to GRID but with probably slightly improved handling as far as rally cars go. Sorry to say it's NOT going to have every car, everyone wants! If they put every car on the planet in the game someone would come along and complain that did not include a Unicycle-sheeesh!!:imwithstupid: I did not like Dirt much for two reasons: my PC could not run it smoothly and the rare times and instances it did I did not care for the spongey vehicle suspensions. I absolutely Love GRID not just for the graphic appeal either, I like the car physics very much, and with a few mods you can get the sound up to par like it should have been. The AI in the game can be ruthless at times  So if Dirt2 is anything like GRID I will be there in line to buy it no question. I have been trying to keep tabs on this game since the rumors started, and anticipating it's release! I could carless it's not a straight out sim and I am not going to decide wether Mcrae's name should or should not be on it. I think it's a nice tribute to him regardless. We should be so fortunate!

Well I for one won't be buying the G27. I am perfectly happy with the G25. Got it brand new for $265 shipped in versus $299 + tax for this new G27. Taking away sequential shifter after having it on the 25 is sad. I use seq. shifting in rally & NFS games that don't support H-pattern and enjoy it. I bought my 25 late so I got the shifter that does not make clicking noises when shifting. I bought a brand new backup shifter (clicker version) from eBay just in case mine breaks down. Got it for under $50. I could easily open the extra shifter and do the mods to make it have more resistance and quiet, to feel more realistic and not void warranty on my original set. If your warranty is out on your G25 you could easily drill the pedal holders for the same optimal placement of the pedals as the G27. When I first got my wheel I thought the same as many did, not enough buttons on the wheel itself, but learned to adjust to the shifter buttons. I could care less about the improved gears on the motors, as my volume is up so high I cannot hear them anyway. I agree with the reviewers in the YouTube video. If you already own a G25 don't run out and get this, but if you don't have a G25 and are in the market for one get the G27. Unless you have lots of disposible income and just have to have the latest greatest!

I downloaded it, installed the individual files and worked fine. Both Common world files were present, no problem. I saw new billboards around city centers. Although I did not care much for this mod I put back all the original files. Tree's do look more natural and 'Real World' correct, but I prefer the over-saturation of color, its just visually more pleasing to my eyes. The one thing I did not like was tho the road patch looked more natural I did not like the 'Oil in water' effect on the road surfaces. Same thing you see in GTR2 while driving. The road surface is suppose to be different shades of black/grey but you see a slight red-green-blue effect resembling oil in water! So I took it back to the original state, just my own personal preference.

Do you still get enjoyment out of TDU?
madpioneer replied to zo6dude's topic in Driving & Racing Games
I still play it more than I like to admit. I just upgraded my graphics card and an LCD monitor in late 08' along with a sub-woofer, processor,G25 & G11 just this year. So only since around April of this year have I had the goods to REALLY play with some descent upgraded gear. Having just over a 1,000 miles of road has kept me interested. Unlike some Need 4 Speeds were the map is rather small and can get really repetitive TDU has alot of different areas and scenary to keep me wanting to come back. It does get boring from time to time, as I only play off-line alone. I am sure as time goes by I may play less & less but for now I play it about everyday, or every other day. When I get bored I just switch to GRID, Richard Burns, Need 4 Speeds, Xpand Rally or what-have-you and thrash around. So to make a long story short.... definit..YES! -

TDU Community Patch 1.67d [Please upgrade to 1.68 instead!]
madpioneer replied to Djey's topic in TDU - Support
I have to say after having patch 1.67d on a memory stick for many days and apprehensive about installing it I finally took the plunge this weekend along with some convincing help from my son. Was very easy, took mere seconds! After just a few moments we started to see the new SUV, just then a Limo drove by,then the smaller pickup, taxi's started to appear around the city centers, and finally spotting the new traffic car. Hitting cops just once and not have them all over you is also a plus, noticed more of them around then before! Sometimes parked outside of dealerships. The F40 upgrade is awesome but I have to say the best thing was the rim fixes for the Mustang Saleens and the Alfa! I had swapped the RUF spyder's wheels onto my Saleens and thought they looked very cool, especially the 'S' center, but this patch fix just makes them look mean! I do not know if the vehicles were there all along why Eden chose to keep them out of the game? And how hard would it have been to correct the rim size issue in the design stages? All I know is that you guys deserve alot of Rep for this one! I avoided the earlier patches and glad I did so I did not have to un-install any to get this one installed. Yea the cop cars turn blue or purple when hit by traffic cars now & then but I can live with that seeing all the benifits. It was a little strange to understand why some cars were missing in dealerships and appear in others that had not before, but I totally get it now!, and love the new layout! Since I only have the 'General Lee' as a car mod, camera IK resets were not necessary. Way to go!! Good one!! Good on ya mate!!! -

Also can someone give a tutorial on resetting your camera IK's? If I have installed the 'bling bling' mod. do I need to remove it before installing thia patch? Thanx! -
That function is in the PS2 version of TDU. You blast by a cop and the chase is on. Never saw this mod anywhere for PC?

Wow! I was wondering if someone was going to attempt this. You are right they are some hideous funky looking wannabes. Thanx for this upgrade + rep

Chevrolet Camaro(2010)SS Sound(+gauge)
madpioneer replied to Skepsis's topic in Car Customization Mods
Nice to see or better hear yet another one of your great sound creations! Will try it out tonight, but will probably go on my GTO as I am still trying to get enough sounds that the Z06 (using your other awesome sound!) the regular C6's & GTO all have notable slightly different sounds. For my paticular taste. Thanx! again Skepsis! Keep em' comin'! -
I have already tried to contact him on YouTube with no response. I am sure many here have done so way before I did, probably with the same results sadly?:sulk:

Call Of Duty Modern Warefare Two Gameplay Footage!
madpioneer replied to TDU 505's topic in Gaming Discussion
So far what is available to view it's looking good. One concern I have (which is not a big thing) will the campaign be longer than the previous release? It was too short before by a long shot (oxymoron?). -
Yes! Now I can quit using the 'Eleanor' sound on the GT and put it back on the GT500 Stang. Great sound Thanx!
