5. New info on the firmware updates for PS3 and PSP… 14 Oct No doubt you’re already aware of (and excited about) the latest firmware updates for PS3 and PSP. We’ve just had some information on both updates in from SCEE, so please click through to find out more and let us know what you think about all the new functionality. London, October 14, 2008 – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced details of the next PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) and PSP®(PlayStation®Portable) system software updates, adding new features to both platforms to benefit consumers. The PS3 firmware update (v. 2.50) will include the implementation of advanced voice chat features for the PS3 official wireless headset, the ability to capture screenshots in-game with supporting titles in the future, and Trophy enhancements, among other new features. The PSP firmware update (v. 5.00) will add direct access to PlayStation®Store on PSP, enabling consumers to browse the store and download games whenever they’re at a Wi-Fi hotspot. Both system software updates will be released on 15th October. PLAYSTATION®3 Firmware 2.50 Update Building upon the foundation set by previous firmware upgrades, the 2.50 system software update will refine existing features while also adding new functionality. The update will deliver exclusive options to support the official wireless headset, as previously announced, such as an on-screen indicator that shows volume, battery charge, and mute functions, as well as a High Quality (HQ) mode, which utilises advanced wireless technologies and the Headset’s dual-microphone design to enable clear and wide-band wireless voice communication with PS3 system. HQ mode greatly improves the voice chat experience in multi-player titles such as Resistance 2, which launches in November. To further strengthen the gameplay experience on PS3, the firmware update will add an in-game screenshot capture tool, laying the groundwork for developers to add capture and sharing options to their games and allowing players to immortalise their favourite gaming moments and share them with friends. Titles that support the feature will be announced in the future. The 2.50 update will also enhance the user interface for PS3 Trophies. When players acquire a Trophy, the in-game notification will now include the specific Trophy icon created by the developer, while more intuitive options for comparing Trophies with friends have been added, including an icon to represent each Trophy level. The Trophy system will continue to expand through future firmware updates, catering to the PS3 community and the competitive nature of the more than 12 million registered PlayStation Network users worldwide. Other new features delivered through PS3 2.50 will include: • Video – Video scene search functionality will provide thumbnails to help you find a particular scene in a video more easily. • Information Board – The Information Board will be able to include direct links to PlayStation Store, making it easier for PS3 owners to download content that they read about on the Information Board. • Power save – PS3 owners will have the option to automatically shut-off their console or controllers after pre-selected periods of inactivity. • Flash 9 content becomes supported on the Internet Browser. PSP Firmware 5.00 Update The PSP Firmware 5.00 update will add direct PlayStation Store access to the system, eliminating the need for PSP to be connected to a PC or PS3 to download content. PSP owners will be able to download games, demos, trailers, and other game-related content anytime and anywhere that their PSP is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. This functionality delivers on the portable promise of PSP, making the device even more compelling for gaming and entertainment on-the-go. Additional enhancements delivered through PSP 5.00 will include: • On-screen keyboard – A full-size, on-screen keyboard will be added to make text entry during Web browsing easier and more convenient. • Sleep timer – During music playback, a sleep timer will enable users to shut off their PSP after a specified amount of time. • Video-out – The PSP-2000’s video-out feature will be able to display PlayStation format software (classics titles) at the full-screen size of the TV that the PSP is connected to; the feature will also support interlace displays. 6. I've gone for sort of. Vinyls. I'm for them so we could have rally replicas, make race teams colours for the track (if there are any in tdu 2) and have proper gumball rally style vinyls (for gumballs and long cruises). The major downside to vinyls are people who do tasteless ones, like in the thread about the Veyron in NFS. I'm all for simple and tasteful mods to show individality like most PC modders have created for TDU. The trouble is that if this was implemented on a full scale like NFS and MC it would ruin the game, but then if they was to implement only little things like rims and number plates, etc, then the sequal for TDU 2 would progress more into the customisation world and become another NFS and Juiced. I think the main reason I like TDU is that you get to drive cars how the manufacturer makes them, I think the only route they can go down is number plates, an alloy wheel shop. Then have the tuning shops like we have now but offer more places to tune them like they already do with the stang, i.e. Ford or Saleen, so we would get say Brabus, Roush, etc, so we get official tuned cars that (to some extent) would be tastefull and what you could see on the road in real life and none of the tuner scene stuff like NFS, and even this implement would give a bit exctra individaulity to the game.

  15. Posted by The Mole at 6:21 pm on Friday October 10, 2008 Amidst all the excitement of sending the presenters off to Vietnam we seem to have forgotten to mention when the new series of Top Gear is actually back on the telly. TV scheduling is of course a murky business, and one that’s largely out of the production team’s hands. The BBC actually has dedicated scheduling people and they use a variety of techniques to decide when shows should be on air, often revolving around sacrificing a chicken and reading the entrails, throwing a variety of different sized fruits at a wall and seeing which ones stick or feeding a pile of DVDs to a cow and seeing which one gets pooed out first. Although in fairness, all those things only happened when we let The Stig go on attachment to the scheduling department. Anyway, the upshot is that Top Gear was going to be back on 26 October but then there turned out to be some sport on or something and as a result the new series will now start on Sunday 2 November. So don’t move a muscle until then. Actually you probably should move at least some muscles. Otherwise you’ll get really hungry and start to smell. Source TG blog
  16. The trouble with CS3 is its about £400+ and I can't justify that for how often I use it. Whats the difference between CS and Elements??
  17. I'm looking to get some phot editing software but not sure what to get and the difference between them all, so I was wondering what you lot use. I cant afford the stupidly expensive CS3 plus CS4 is due out soon aparently but Elements 6 is in my price range. Also whats Coreldraw like is that any good. The software is mainly going to be used for manipulating pistures and making skins for ETS and other games. All help/opinions appreciated

  19. You say that redvette but look at VAG they have lambo, buggatti and audi etc and they all manage to keep there individuality, its just that hey all use the same engine. *Thinks about a vette with a V10 or a Viper with a V8*
  20. He was well lucky to survive that crash. I can understand why he has made the t shirts but only if the money is going to charity or to pay for a memorial for the unlucky ones. As for the design, not the best from Famous Stars and Straps but if its for one of the above then good luck to him.
  21. New Xbox Experience: Marketplace on the Web One of the cool new features that our team has been working on is Marketplace on the web. When the New Xbox Experience launches on November 19th, you’ll be able to browse the Marketplace on Xbox.com, and queue up downloads. The next time you turn on your Xbox 360, the aforementioned items will begin to download. Also, when I make a post about a new demo, or DLC here, I’ll be able to link directly to that download so you can read it here, click the link and automagically add it to your download queue. Easy. Head over to the Gamerscoreblog for screenshots. Search Results for "Halo": Game Detail Page: Purchase Confirmation: Download Queue: Info Major Nelson, Pics gamerscoreblog
  22. Right back on topic Heres my Idea (with some input from speed): Winner from previous week chooses topic/subject, but CAN'T eneer. After the closing date the winner deceides what pictures will be in the final 10 for public vote (was thinking this could be raised to 15 depending on entrants as 30+ down to ten could be difficault). Then after public vote closes it starts again. A few things I was also thinking of was: If you make the final 10 3 weeks in a row you can't enter the 4th week so then we don't keep getting the same people in the final (this is not to punish skill but more to give others a chance) but by all means you can create something for that week to show, it just wont be entered. Also need to find a way of making sure people dont put people in the final on friendships or bribes. And just had another thought (due to the above problem), how about we have a judging panel, that way the winners can still enter as they cannot choose. The downside to this is that the people in the panel could not enter and would have to be neutral in their desicions (no biast). What do you guys think of these additional I ideas?? and the original??
  23. Some hope, it might not be sold if this goes through http://forum.turboduck.net/showthread.php?p=110194#post110194
