  1. I swear there was a car cleaning thread at one point, but I've looked for it twice on different occasions now and I can't find it. Probably me failing. My Meguiars Carnuba Wax seems to hold up alright really, still think I should invest in something a little tougher like some Collinite. I spend a lot of time on CleanYourCar.co.uk, but I never seem to buy anything. Last time I was on there I almost bought a Dual Action Polisher :p A little beading for you, and so I don't seem completely random talking about car waxes out of the blue: http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/IMG_0150.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/IMG_0151.jpg
  2. I'd imagine it is the same, if not similar engine. The current generation of Polo GTI and Fabia vRS use the 1.4TSI and they have the super-charger and turbo-charger. Blummin' VW/Audi Group hoses, every time I read about them there's either hoses coming off completely or splitting. Think they spent a little less time investing in the durability of that department than neccessary.
  3. It's too far to go anyway, even though it is everything I'd like from a MK3 Golf, minus being a VR6, but the insurance on those is mega. Tried another insurance quote on a MK4 Golf GTI 1.8T yesterday and that came out at a similar price to the MK3 GTI 16v. I think my dad has a lot of persuading/work to do to get me buying the Skoda off him. The Skoda is quicker, but I'm a Golf person through-and-through at the end of the day, so if I can insure a GTI for similar money it'll be a very tough decision. First day off work, wake up at 6AM. Damn you body clock, I need more sleep.
  4. It actually looks it. 80,000 miles and apparently garaged for a few years as well.
  5. *Does spur of the moment insurance quote on a MK3 Golf GTI* *Pleasently suprised* *Starts looking on Pistonheads for cars* *Finds one exactly like mum and step-dad has, haven't ever seen one like it before* *Looks at location..* Lanarkshire... 335 miles/6 hours away. Gutted. Really gutted.
  6. My seven days off work starts now, well not now actually, but on Monday. All of next week off and then the Monday and Tuesday the week after. Ten days on total including weekends which I don't work anyway, I think I'll try and turn into as much of a couch potatoe (or whatever the bed equivilent is) as possible :p
  7. They haven't all been owned in the last six months, probably should've said that :p May have driven some before I got my license.
  8. My own car. 1984 Datsun-Nissan Sunny 1.5 'SGL' (Exactly like the one Clarkson blew up once) 1990 Toyota Hilux (Petrol, with 200,000 miles on it, and a massive hole in the floor because of rust) 1990 VW Golf GTI 16v (Belonged to my dad first, then my sister. She got rid of it last year, I still miss the thing) 1993 Mazda 323F 1.6 16v (Sisters first car, I started learning to drive in it) 1995 Land Rover Discovery 'GS' TDI Auto (Sisters boyfriends first car, only Automatic I've driven) 1996 VW Golf GTI 8v (Once my mums, now my step-dads. Still just about going at 188,000 miles with one careless owner) 1997 VW Golf 'GL' TDI (My dads once pride and joy, looked after that car so well. Took it to a VW dealership once and the salesman looked over the car and couldn't believe it'd done 100,000 miles, or even half that, because it was that spotless) 1999 Vauxhall Omega 'CD' 2.0 16v (My nans car, biting point on the clutch is stupidly high) 2001 Land Rover Freelander 'GS' 1.8 (One of my mums old cars, traded in for the Polo) 2003 Peugeot 206 'LX' 1.4 HDI (Second car my driving instructor had, passed my test in it, don't hate 206s as much now) 2003 Skoda Fabia vRS (My dads, it'll probably be mine by the end of the year) 2005 Citroen C2 HDI (First car my driving instructor had) 2008 VW Polo 'Match' 1.4 TDI (My mums previous car) 2009 Alfa Romeo MiTo 'Lusso' 1.4 (My dads car, learnt to drive in this as well) 2011 Hyundai i10 'Style' 1.2 (Sisters car that replaced the MK2 Golf) Not bad considering I've only been fully licensed since August :p
  9. Was probably someone like me making one of their huge daily stupid mistakes.
  10. Woman in the white jumper stood behind and to the right of Dr. Who. Mmmmmayyybeee. :p
  11. Thanks. Nah, it's only got one real one on the drivers side. The other is just because the French obviously liked trying to be symmetrical back then, but their build quality made sure that only the fuel caps looked the same :p
  12. Like the first shot of the MX5, that's pretty sweet.
  13. Sunny day today, so I cleaned the car, not entirely due to the fact that it's a nice sunny day because I'd clean it anyway :p Good chance to get some better photos of it though. The place where I was going to go turned out to be down a stupidly rocky dirt track and someone had already parked where I planned to go, so I went somewhere else. Not much to look at besides the car, but it's a better back-drop than my driveway or some crap side of the road shot in town (see old signature). http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/IMG_0815.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/IMG_0813.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x104/GTAMADDOG/IMG_0816.jpg Did a couple of shot similar to the last one, all of which are pretty fail-tastic because I somehow didn't realise I was shooting into the sun :p
  14. Only thing of note lately was a white Porsche 911 Targa 4S when I was in Monmouth yesterday. Sounded like a bag of spanners though despite not even being a year old.
  15. I love the Caterham R500 on the Glencoe circuit. I think that circuit was probably more-so designed for karts, but it's good fun to chuck the Caterham around on it :p
  16. I've got it activated and bought into it now. Reaper helped me out. Thanks though.
  17. I've requested an activation email from them five times now and I've not had an email. Checked my email address is correct, turned off my Spam filter, checked my Spam folder. Nothing :(
  18. Back on the lighter stuff for the time being :p https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg8yocFnJ94
  19. When are you going to be around over your birthday? I've got seven days holidays to use up before the end of March so if having a day off makes going to the pub easier then I might book time off around then. If not then I'll book time off as soon as possible because I'm knackered, lol. Also spent the day at work today on Google Street View looking at places as they were in September 2009 because I was that bored. It looked so awesomely sunny back then, brought back memories. It's my turn to be in a reflective mood now :p

  20. I thought I'd been to the part of Wales they went to today, I was right. Been past it loads of times :p
  21. It was re-mapped before my uncle had even seen it, and before it had even got to the dealership. I don't know why my uncle had it re-mapped as he didn't really know how they'd drive to start with. Infact I don't know how the company he was working for at the time allowed him to have it re-mapped as it was a company car for the first year of it's life. Then my dad made a huge saving by buying it for half of what it was worth through some deal they'd set up.
  22. Washed three cars today. So me, my sister and my dad have clean cars to go around in this week, but now I'm already knackered before another full week of work :/
