  1. Porsche Packed It is of no wonder that Kunos seem to be enjoying teasing their community with the frequent release of new media and comments in regards to the Assetto Corsa Porsche pack. Over the past few weeks they have dropped images showing what is known as the ‘Holy Trinity’’ – consisting of the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. This super treble of hypercars is seen as the peak of automotive excellence today. There have also been images of the 991 Carrera S, the rear light of a Boxster 718 and a real world example shown of the 935/78 'Moby Dick' along with an exciting sharing of Porsche Motorsport’s tweet about the new 911 GT3 Cup car. In all there is looking to be a total of 24 Porsches to come over the two three packs, which is a fine amount and will also see some of the lesser known examples hitting the virtual tarmac for the first in a long time or for the first time ever in an official capacity. Being that Assetto Corsa was noticed by Porsche and then asked to create an environment in which to showcase their vehicles virtually, it is a massive gold star to the team and sets up a perfect pairing for sim-racing fans. For once players on all current platforms will be able to partake in the joy of a simulation racer that contains the best that Porsche offered in the past and does so today. Let's just hope the cost of it is reasonable.
  2. Assetto Corsa Console Update A new community blog posted by Kunos Simulazioni reveals further details of what's to come in the PS4 and Xbox One update that is aiming to release this month. Along with the previously mentioned fixes for the main issues relating to graphics, control and AI, we learn that the ‘Black Cat County’ fictional road layout and Maserati Levante are also coming with it. [caption id=attachment_5476" align="alignnone" width="800] Welcome to 'Black Cat County' - (image from PC announcement)[/caption] ‘Black Cat County’ comes in three layouts of short, intermediate and long and despite being the ‘short’ version it still takes about 3 minutes to complete a lap of the Death Valley-like location in a sportscar according to Kunos. The dusty and twisty road layout, accompanied with high-speed sections and straights is a nice breakaway from the many closed-off circuits already included, giving players the opportunity to test the handling in a more relaxed open road setting. The Maserati Levante is the first SUV to come from the famous trident fronted marque and was created to compete in the luxury SUV market. And with it being big. heavy and fast, with a top speed of over 160 mph, the Levante will unquestionably be quite the adventure to not only throw about and drive hard on 'Black Cat County', but also everywhere else! Note: video trailer below is the original for PC version No date is set in stone for this PS4 and Xbox One update, but as said before, September is still the aim.
  3. Assetto Corsa Console Fixes It may be a fantastic simulation racer for console but the recently released Assetto Corsa is not without its problems. Thankfully however, it appears that some of the main ones will receive fixes along with other improvements in an upcoming update for PS4 and Xbox One. The core of these that have been mentioned in a Facebook post by Licensing Project Manager, Marco Massarutto, is the ever irritating screen tearing and an improved “smoothness” in the graphics, which hopefully is in reference to a solution for the frame rate dips both platforms experience. Tearing issues have been solved, and the graphics is much more smooth in any situation. The smoothness also gives a better perception of visuals, and allows to feel a better car handling. - Marco Massarutto Reviews and opinions of the game regularly praise the handling but other issues such as control when using a gamepad and the AI being too tough, even on lower settings, seem to often be stated as causes that hinder player enjoyment. So it is great to see that improved controller support and AI balancing is forthcoming also, with the latter delivering new “Very Easy” and “Alien” difficulty levels. Fixes for the Thrustmaster T80, T100 and TH branch of shifters is also listed including the adding of a “reset to default” command which will put the settings to a recommended set of values. Assetto Corsa performs a full rotation of the steering wheel, depending by the car you choose, that actually helps to understand if you are steering too much, since the visual rotation matches the physical one. Said that, we recognize that gamepad users are not used to this kind of approach, and actually it can be weird by an aesthetical point of view. We added the option to lock the visual steering wheel, that will be setted by default at 360 degrees, and it works from 240 to 1080 degrees... - Marco Massarutto Going on to mention that this is only "some" of the things to be found within this next build and that as this is their first venture onto console where they are experimenting and learning the "hugely different" and "more complex, slow and less dynamic" route in how to get an update out on the Sony and Microsoft platforms compared with PC, it is encouraging to see Kunos listening to and responding to the criticism and feedback of their community, and as long as they prove it, the fan base will more than likely reward them. Kunos, according to Massarutto, are hoping to get this new update out during September. Source: Facebook [yop_poll id=8]
  4. Assetto Corsa Xbox One Those good fellows at Team VVV (VVV) have bowed to the social justice warriors (not really, it was a request) and resigned themselves to making a video where they play the Xbox One version of Assetto Corsa with a controller. Even though Assetto Corsa will attract the hardcorest (I know it's not a word) of race sim fanatics who don the fireproof suit, helmet and point a camera at their feet, there will still be a large number who will like nothing more than lying back on their couch or bed with a sandwich at their side and a pad in their hand, waiting for the lights to go out and their race to start. It is those people that this preview has been made for. And they will be happy to know that VVV are very favourable about the way AC plays with a standard pad, going so far as to mention control and playability is still pretty good even when using the chase cam. This conclusion was reached after taking a fiery Lamborghini Huracan GT3 out on the virtual asphalt and running a few laps. Naturally control is better and more precise with a wheel but for all those pad users, it looks like AC will not be throwing up any game-destroying problems. Being a hardcore simulation, you still need to be conservative with your inputs when applying the throttle and brakes with the triggers, and you still get better car control with a wheel, but it's a testament to Assetto Corsa's intuitive handling physics that we were still able to tame the mighty Lamborghini Huracan GT3 with the limitations of a controller. - Martin Bigg at Team VVV For the more purist racer who will still use a pad, the control while using the multiple on-car and in-car views is pleasant enough, as is shown in the later section of the preview when a McLaren 650S GT3 is raced against some AI opponents. Technical aspects have both running at 60fps, with the PS4 being 1080p and the Xbox One being 900p with some frame dips and instances of screen tearing showing on each system too. 5. Built For [Console] Racers As with everything to do with a date set not too long in the future, that time does eventually arrive. For those who have been waiting for Assetto Corsa ever since it was revealed to be coming to PS4 and Xbox One that time is almost here. Even with the delays it is now merely days before AC gets released in Europe and console gamers can get their hands on what has been labelled an authentic racing simulator, gaining a following and reputation on PC for being one of the best currently available. And now the console (peasants) can join in too. To celebrate this, Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games have put up a trailer titled 'Built for Racers' to showcase just what the game is offering. And there is no better way to describe it other than how Kunos do so themselves as “Built by racing enthusiasts, for racing enthusiasts”. Paired with a rousing soundtrack that would not be out-of-place in a Hollywood blockbuster where the earth is battling against yet another alien race, the trailer beautifully exhibits all manners of racing, shows rivals against one another on the track and highlights multiple examples of the physics engine at work. You shouldn’t fear however if you want a racing game for your console but worry that AC may be too hardcore, as the developers have included multiple ways for you to tailor the game to your inadequate ability of play. And yes you can play with a pad too, but of course a wheel is recommended for the ultimate experience. Assetto Corsa is FINALLY out for PS4 and Xbox One from August 26th in Europe and from August 30th for North America.
  6. Honouring The Italian Greats With Assetto Corsa's latest DLC, the Red Pack, comes seven iconic Italian sports cars and a new track to test them on! Along with the new DLC arrives the latest update, v1.7 with a number of small tweaks and big improvements as requested by the AC community. The Red Pack The new DLC is a tribute to the many wonderful, famous and infamous sports cars to come out of Italian factories bearing the badges of Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini. With the Red Pack you also get a taste of the latest tyre model, version 10. While v10 feels very similar to the current tyre model, it is actually a complete rewrite and one step closer to realism. Tyre model V10 will be rolling out to the rest of the car list in the coming months. The seven iconic cars included in this pack are: Ferrari SF15-T, the first Ferrari GP car to debut in Assetto Corsa, and the second car made by Ferrari since the reintroduction of turbo-charged engines. Ferrari F138, a Formula One car designed by Scuderia for 2013's Formula One season. Named F138 to mark the year it was raced in and the final season that would use V8 engines. Ferrari 488 GT3, a racing version of the 458 Italia's replacement, the 488 GTB, which sports a 3.9 litre, twin turbo V8. Maserati 250F 6C, another Formula One racer that took part between January 1954 and November 1960, it had a 2.5 litre naturally asipirated straight six. Maserati 250F T2 12C, with a change in rules, in 1956 this 250F was able to run a V12 engine. Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4, this GT4 racecar features the standard 4.7 liter engine, however with the fitting of an air-scoop power is reduced from 488bhp to 430bhp however was fitted with a newly designed rear spoiler and modified diffuser to help take on its GT4 rivals. Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SuperVeloce, with a weight loss of 50kg and power increased to 750bhp this Lamborghini is a little bit nuts. 0-100km/h takes just 2.8 seconds and it can reach a top speed of over 350km/h. An exciting selection that'll give you plenty of entertainment, no doubt. As well as seven new vehicles, you'll also get a new track to thrash them on, Austria's Red Bull Ring! The Red Bull Ring is, for the first time ever in PC racing, digitally recreated using laser scanning technology. This results in the most accurate reproduction and highest level detail possible. Download now on Steam for £6.99. Version 1.7 In the latest update comes a number of new features and improvements. As the community has requested, false starts have now been implemented, which can result in players facing penalties for jumping the gun. New physics improvements have been included also, such as tweaks to the current tyre model which makes tyres more sensitive and responsive to initial tyre pressures, as well as improvements to the realigning forces, and more. Assetto Corsa is now able to simulate brake temperatures, which is initially included in some Red Pack cars and will also be rolled out to the rest of the cars in coming months. The KERS/hybrid electric systems have also been tweaked for the F138 to behave more realistically. Other improvements include new artificial intelligence algorithms and improved overtaking maneuvers, which result in AI drivers displaying a more varied performance during single laps and sessions, and also a new experimental multiplayer code which reduces bandwidth usage and improves quality of online sessions. And finally my personal favourite change in the v1.7.3 changelog, "Fixed strut suspensions going full banana". Brilliant. [gallery columns=6" link="file" ids="4927,4926,4924,4925,4923,4922,4921,4920,4919,4905,4906,4904,4902,4903,4901,4900,4899,4898,4897,4896,4894,4895,4892,4886]
  7. Ferrari 488 GT3 It's been a few days since there's been anything heard from the Assetto Corsa team, but now, one day before the pack release itself, the fifth car model of the nearly here 'Red Pack' has been revealed, and it is another Ferrari. Meaning a minimum of three prancing horses will be in amongst the seven Italian examples that will be included with the new DLC. With the addition of the 488 GT3, the already impressive variety of GT cars will be boosted even more and it is something Kunos themselves seem quite proud of. "Our GT2/GT3 grid will be one of the most complete in the genre and a step forward in providing the best GT experience ever!" The car which was brought in to replace the 458 - that is also represented in the game - has divided opinion just like it's predecessor. Some like it, others think the front looks 'unfinished' but there is always one thing you can be certain of with mid-engine road cars from Ferrari, and that is that they handle supremely well. And when they then take that road going model and turn it into a track runner, things in that area get even better. So that's two cars left to reveal of this pack and it is looking like we will learn what they are from the pack itself. Those five that have been given official exposure are the Ferrari 488 GT3, the historic Maserati 250F 6C, the F1 duo of the 2013 Ferrari F138 and the 2015 Ferrari SF15-T and last but not in anyway least, the Lamborghini Aventador SV. The 'Red Pack' is out tomorrow (July 14th) on Steam and available for the consoles later in the year. Assetto Corsa - Ferrari 488 GT3 Images [gallery link=file" columns="4" ids="5083,5084,5085,5086,5087,5088,5089,5090,5091,5092,5093,5094]
  8. F1 Ferrari V8 The boys and girls behind Assetto Corsa must be in amazing moods as their latest preview of what's next in line for the 'Red Pack' is something real special yet again. As if it wasn't enough to thrill us by announcing that the Ferrari SF15-T 2015 season car was coming to the 'Red Pack'. Now they have gone and unveiled another Scuderia Ferrari that will be making its way in to the DLC that releases on July 14th. And this time it's a V8 from 2013! The last of the Ferrari V8s in fact, before they went to the (strimmer/weed whacker sounding) turbos, driven by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. The trailer to accompany the announcement, simply titled Introducing the Ferrari F138, shows the car doing a flying lap round the Silverstone GP circuit. And even though we knew this one was coming after some clips of it were included in the console announcement trailer from the start of this year, it is still impressive that the team has decided to pack so much ultimate into this one pack. After all, having two authentic F1 Ferrari cars in a simulation racer is like the holy grail for many racing enthusiasts, and from how Kunos is going about in assembling the machinery to be included in this pack, we really cannot wait to see what else is still to come. The Red Pack is shaping up nicely with the confirmed inclusion of the Maserati 250F 6C, Lamborghini Aventador SV, Ferrari SF15-T and now this second F1 Ferrari. Meaning there is three models remaining out of the seven we have been told are due.
  9. Fangiotastic! The information just keeps on flooding out in regards to the Assetto Corsa 'Red Pack' that is heading for release next week. Latest to get the spotlight is the Maserati 250F 6C that Kunos Simulazioni gave us a glimpse of in the very first tease for the new DLC. This time the classic Formula One racer gets a full image showcase all to itself, looking excellent as it is let loose on the track, spitting out unburnt fuel as it does so. With great names attached, such as Juan Manuel Fangio and Sir Stirling Moss, the car enjoyed success right from the off, taking the win in its first Grand Prix with Fangio behind the wheel at his home race in Argentina. And with Moss calling it the "the nicest Formula 1 front-engined car to drive" of its era, you know it just had to be something special to receive such high praise from such a legend of the sport. The cars of that time also liked to be on 3-wheels through the turns and with the simulation prowess of AC this will hopefully be seen when players get their hands on the pack. Assetto Corsa: Maserati 250F 6C Images [gallery link=file" columns="4" ids="5040,5041,5042,5043,5044,5045,5046,5047,5048,5049,5050,5051,5052,5053,5054,5055,5056] The Assetto Corsa 'Red Pack' will be available for purchase from Steam on July 14th for PC and will be coming to the console versions later on in the year.
  10. Red Bull Ring The Red Bull Ring is next for the detailing stage of the Assetto Corsa 'Red Pack' release-info-about-athon and inevitably the circuit is receiving the full laser scanned treatment in order to deliver an accurate rendition. Founded as the Österreichring, the circuit was host to the Austrian Formula One Grand Prix for 18 consecutive years from 1970-1987. Later it was shortened, rebuilt and was given the new name of A1-Ring, where under this new guise it became host of the Austrian GP from 1997-2003. With F1 outgrowing the track, plans were put in place and work started on extending the layout but construction stopped, the track fell into neglect and remained unusable until its owners Red Bull began a €70m reconstruction in late 2008, ending with and giving us the Red Bull Ring. The track opened again to professional racing with a visit from the DTM in its 2011 season and the championship has revisited every year since. Formula One also made its return, bringing the Austrian Grand Prix back to the F1 racing calendar after a ten-year absence with the Red Bull Ring's inclusion in the 2014 season. It would appear then, that this place has quite a history. The track will feature along with seven car models, some of which have already been confirmed: Maserati 250F, Lamborghini Aventador SV and the Ferrari SF15-T Formula 1. Assetto Corsa - Red Bull Ring Images [gallery link=file" columns="4" ids="5020,5021,5022,5023,5024,5025,5026,5027,5028,5029,5030,5031,5032,5033,5034,5035] The Red Pack DLC will be available to purchase July 14th on Steam and will be coming to consoles later in the year. Assetto Corsa is out now on Steam PC and will be released on console on August 26th in Europe and August 30th in North America.
  11. Scuderia Ferrari SF15-T Those crafty ones behind Assetto Corsa have been playing with our emotions again, titling their new upcoming content as the 'Red Pack' but with no Ferrari in sight. In fairness it was only a couple of days of no-show for the Prancing Horse and with a name like that for the pack you knew something from the stables of Modena had to be coming. What was not expected though was a Formula 1 car! The Scuderia Ferrari SF15-T from the 2015 F1 season was driven by cream of the crop drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen and had one of those fronts... or noses that only a mother or a diehard Tifosi could love. In the hands of Vettel it ('Eva' as he called it) won a few races, taking the chequered flag at Malaysia, Hungary and Singapore. Powered by a 1.6L V6 Turbo hybrid engine (WHYYYY?!?!?) that spat out 600 bhp with another 160 available via KERS and limited to a maximum of 15,000 rpm, the trailer that accompanies this announcement showing the car lapping around the also upcoming 'Red Pack' Red Bull Ring is more a treat for the eyes than the ears. In an interesting turn of events, this is not the F1 Ferrari that has been expected, as an F138 was shown quite predominantly in the original Console Announcement trailer back in January. Would Kunos be crazy enough to deliver two Scuderia Ferrari F1 racecars in the 'Red Pack'? Considering the season this car is from is the one where we had to look at those noses, let's hope so! Assetto Corsa: Ferrari SF15-T images [gallery link=file" columns="5" ids="4918,4919,4920,4921,4922,4923,4924,4925,4926,4927]
  12. Assetto Corsa - Red Pack Tease Not taking much time to soak in the heaps of praise and adulation people have been throwing at Kunos Simulazioni after announcing that Porsche was coming to Assetto Corsa, the devs are back to teasing what else they have planned. Going by the game's official Facebook, this new downloadable content (DLC) for Assetto Corsa will be called the 'Red Pack' and will be out on July 14th. A couple of images of two of the vehicles that will be included was also shown as a small tease. Beginning with the gorgeous red Maserati 250F. This car was raced by two of the most famous names in motor-racing history: Juan Manuel Fangio and Sir Stirling Moss. With Fangio helping make the cars presence in motorsport felt immediately when it won its first race at the 1954 Argentine Grand Prix. An eyeful of orange (well you need red to make it I suppose) Lamborghini Aventador SV is next, and subtlety is most definitely not the case with this raging bull. With it's low and aggressive stance, sharp sticky out bits and huge rear wing, this thing wouldn't look out of place in Carmageddon mowing down cattle and scaring grannies! Powered by a thunderous V12 pumping out 740 bhp, a 0-60 time of less than 3 seconds and a sub 7 minute lap of the Nordschleife, this mad Lamborghini doesn't mind being on the road or the track. Speaking of track, Licensing Project Manager Marco Massarutto shared an in-game image of the Red Bull Ring, the latest addition to the game's already quite impressive circuit library. Interestingly the focus of this image seemed to be on a DRS marker. Does this hint to a modern Formula 1 car coming with this pack? If so there shouldn't be too long to wait before finding out. Lamborghini Aventador SV - Images [gallery link=file" columns="4" ids="4891,4892,4893,4894,4895,4896,4897,4898,4899,4900,4901,4902,4903,4904,4905,4906]
  13. Assetto Corsa JDM DLC Another vehicle pack has dropped for Assetto Corsa (AC) and this time it is the turn of those from Japan. This new DLC offers some of the most favoured and admired models from the land of the rising sun and sees the debut of Mazda to the series. Featuring models from Toyota, Nissan and Mazda, the Japanese pack will make many JDM fans happy with the inclusion of idols such as the Supra MK IV, AE86 Trueno, RX-7, MX-5, GT-R R34 Skyline and the 370Z. With many of these being known for their fun handling, particularly the MX-5 and AE86 Trueno, AC's respected simulation physics should make piloting these cars in the game's many circuits a lot of fun and quite the challenge, but if nailed properly, will no doubt deliver one of the best virtual driving experiences around. With this being a pack full of Japanese machinery, it is of no surprise that the drift muppets (love you really guys!) are specially catered for, with Drift versions of the Supra and AE86. And don't worry if that's not your thing, as a number of the cars come in more than one guise and consist of either a tuned or track attack variant, along with the normal stock offering. In total there are 6 distinct cars with 12 possible versions: Mazda MX-5 2015 Mazda MX-5 CUP Mazda RX-7 Spirit R + tuned version Toyota Supra MK IV + time attack and Drift version Toyota AE86 Trueno + tuned and Drift version Nissan 370Z NISMO Nissan GT-R R34 Skyline V-Spec Available now, the Assetto Corsa Japanese pack is available on Steam for the reasonable price of €4.99 / £3.99 / $4.99. [gallery link=file" columns="5" ids="4721,4722,4723,4724,4725,4726,4727,4728,4729,4730,4731,4732,4733,4734,4735,4736,4737,4738,4739,4740,4741,4742,4743,4744,4745,4746,4747,4748,4749,4750,4751,4752,4753,4754,4755,4756,4757,4758,4759,4760,4761,4762,4763,4764,4765,4766,4767,4768,4769] Kunos Simulazioni have also deployed the latest update for the game -- v1.6.0 brings with it the typical bundle of fixes, bug squashes and other improvements along with pre-alpha support for the Oculus Rift VR headset. 1.6.0 changelog Oculus Rift SDK 1.3 (WIP Pre Alpha) Fixed self-shadowing on tires Fixed wrong log output Dynamic controllers for turbo boost Added RPMS input to dynamic controllers Implementation of Scalable Apps Fixed replay Interface Fixed setup info screen Fixed race non-progression when player is not moving Improved MP collision system Improved AI fuel handling Fixed Hotlap Mode unlocking achievement through not valid laps Fixed deltaT for renderAudio Bodywork and horn volumes uses engineVolume Bodywork’s smooth value use a different alsmooth value Added analogic placeholder for car modelers Added option to draw driver’s label on focused car (system\cfg\name_displayer.ini -> DRAW_FOCUSEDCAR) Fixed CameraCar bad nearplane when forcing camera mode change (see exiting from replay) Implementation of Chat App (system\cfg\chat_app.ini) SharedMemory: Moved AirTemp/RoadTemp from Static to Physics, old values in static are deprecated Timing use also the hour/minutes format Fixed GoToPits Cheat to start from the pits. 14. Assetto Corsa Console 'Perfection' As we approach the June release date for the console version of Assetto Corsa, it seems Kunos and 505 Games have been ramping up the promotional push to spread the word about the game. Latest of which, is this simply sublime trailer showing many vehicles from the game captured in everything from a gentle panning around the cars' interiors and exteriors, to the slow motion instances of the many normal racing and hard driving moments exhibited during the running of laps around a circuit or race course, all set to a calming classy piano piece that never breaks away into a hard rock session or a dubstep bass drop. Giving out a feeling that there is no need for gimmicks, and in turn showing itself in a sort of warts and all type manner because of it, marking itself as a simulation racer that is all about the cars and the handling first. Its sole function, to provide a close representation of what it might actually feel like to take anything from your own daily driver (if it's in) or one of those unobtainable dream motors to the very limit, as if you are one of the previous Top Gear presenters, whose job it is to go fast and hopefully not crash while doing so. With DiRT Rally having only just dropped on the PS4 and Xbox One and Assetto Corsa coming up on the horizon, these are quite good days to be a console racing pleb.
  15. "Surprise" Bonus Pack 2 A video has been released, rather unexpectedly, showing off the contents of a brand new Bonus Pack for Assetto Corsa, due to release alongside the version 1.5 update on March 31st. In the humorous showing for the free Bonus Pack 2, we see a Corvette C7 Stingray and a Ford Mustang enjoying themselves on the new "Black Cat County" desert track which will come in three configurations, before meeting up with a stylish Italian "surprise". As they all face each other, the revs rise and then the power drops, producing puffs of smoke as their tyres struggle to grip on the tarmac due to the horsepower being exerted through them, speeding head-first towards each other as quickly as they can accelerate along the stretch of tarmac. It's really quite a sight to behold and brilliantly executed. And as Kunos themselves are Italian, it makes sense that they would want to include a true hero of their country's automotive history. The surprise from Italy will be included within the console version, however the US duo is available as part of the ‘Prestige Pack’ pre-order incentive at select retailers. Currently available on PC via Steam, Assetto Corsa will hit Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 3rd in Europe and June 7th in North America. Source: Assetto Corsa facebook
  16. Assetto Corsa Console Delay The wait for the console version of Assetto Corsa gets that bit longer as publisher 505 Games have announced that the title will now be out in June. Originally pencilled in for an April release, the new dates are now June 3rd for Europe and June 7th for North America. The publisher says the game has been delayed to give developers Kunos Simulazioni the extra time to get the Pledge (other polishes are available) out and "ensure the console release delivers the most polished experience for simulation racing fans". Not many will deny them that extra time if it means being able to fulfil the promise of the 60fps simulation-racer that they are craving, particularly when you consider they will be going up against PlayStation and Xbox stalwarts Forza and Gran Turismo, plus the new'ish kids looking to make a dent in the racing scene, Project CARS. 17. Assetto Corsa Track Updates Kunos Simulazioni began the development of Assetto Corsa back in 2011 and since then they have learned a lot more about how to go about creating assets, modelling and gathering accurate track data via laser-scanning, as well as increasing their staff numbers and financials. And so, some of the older tracks are showing their age compared to their newer counterparts due to missing out on the new found knowledge and methods that are now being used. However in a gesture that you would not usually expect to see, after all it would be easy to leave them as is and commit to making everything from now on to the current standard, Kunos are going to update and improve these older environments. In fact, they have already started optimising circuits including "Vallelunga, Nurburgring GP, Mugello, Magione, Imola, Silverstone, Monza, Spa Francorchamps, as well as the Nordschleife". The upgraded versions of which you can check out some comparisons in the gallery below, will come for free as part of the 1.5 update, currently under development. With the forthcoming console release you could say they had to do this anyway but we like to believe this is the kind of team Kunos are; always wanting to better themselves and bring their new knowledge and use it to benefit not only what is to come, but also the what is already available. 18. Kunos Simulazioni has released an interesting look-ahead into 2016, giving Assetto Corsa fans an idea of what to expect of the title in the coming year. 2016 will be a major year for Assetto Corsa as the title will be making its console debut next year. Once again, Kunos Simulazioni stressed that the console version will not run a simplified physics model. Assetto Corsa users can look forward to plenty of new content next year as Kunos Simulazioni plans to add no less than 42 new cars to Assetto Corsa. That includes the addition of Maserati as well as several new Audis, including the Audi R18 E-Tron, TT VLN 2014, TT CUP 2015, A1 S1, Sport quattro S1 E2 and TT 2015 models. Furthermore, fans of Japanese machinery will be pleased as well as Kunos is looking to add the Toyota Celica, Supra, AE86 and TS040 Hybrid, as well as the Nissan GT-R 34 Skyline and 350Z Nismo 2015. Also on the list are Mclaren’s 570LS and P1 GTR as well as the Praga R1R. In terms of tracks, Assetto Corsa users can look forward to a laser-scanned version of the Red Bull Ring as well as historic layouts of Silverstone and Monza. While most of this content will likely be released as paid DLC content, Kunos is also planning to kick off the year with some free bonus cars as players can look forward to getting their hands on the Corvette C7 Stingray 2015 and Ford Mustang 2015 early into 2016. The acclaimed simulation racer developed by Italian developer Kunos Simulazioni will be published by 505 Games for the console and will bring what many console players have been aching for - a proper hardcore racing simulation on par with those found on PC. The announcement comes in the form of a trailer that focuses on the insane Ferrari FXX K, which in itself is the cover car for the Assetto Corsa console retail releases and will mark the debut of the super-exclusive Maranello racecar in the game. And you can be safe in the knowledge that the content that has been released and come to PC will also be there on PS4 and Xbox One, with 505 Games (who should know right?!) confirming the Dream Packs, Bonus cars, laser-scanned tracks and everything else that has so far come to the PC will be there for the console too. The game will ship with over 90 cars from the everyday road-going to prototype racers and over 20 tracks, with locations including firm favourites Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, and Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Kunos is prioritising 60fps and indications point at PS4 being 1080p and Xbox One 900p. The Audi was a free bonus for the PC not too long ago so could that mean the other two are coming to PC as bonus cars too, or has some of the content been given the old switcheroo between the platforms?
  20. Kunos Simulazioni has announced that support for their netKar Pro title will be ending in December 2015. With the studio having successfully moved on to their Assetto Corsa simulation, support for its predecessor is ending as Kunos is no longer checking activations for the old title anymore. Instead locking out gamers of their product completely, Kunos is going a different route as netKar Pro is effectively becoming an unsupported freeware, the multiplayer lobby servers have been announced to be be shut down on December 1, 2015. The final 1.3 version of netKar Pro was released in late 2011, the title even has a feature that has not made it into Assetto Corsa as netKar Pro comes with wet weather functionality, unlike its successor. netKar Pro To Become Freeware Netkar Pro goes freeware in December Video:
  21. Assetto Corsa: Brands Hatch One of the more famous racing circuits of the UK, Brands Hatch (Brands), is coming to Assetto Corsa in the fast-approaching Dream Pack 3. Brands, according to Kunos Simulazioni, has taken 6 months to produce from thousands of reference photos and Laserscan data and will be the fourth track to be released this year for the title, following on from Nurburgring, Zandvoort and Barcelona. Ever continuing to bring the goods to its players in the way of popular circuits being added to the ever-growing official track list available to the game. A favourite among motorsport fans, Brands hosts all manner of racing series such as the BTCC, DTM and even the British Superbike Championship and with corners such as Paddock Hill Bend, Druids, Dingle Dell and Clearways, there are plenty of opportunities to pass, but if you're not careful these can also make you look a fool and have you crawling through the gravel traps. More about Dream Pack 3 is due to come in the coming weeks and days, namely the cars and like you, we are hoping for some treats! Dream Pack 3 is due for release on December 15th, 2015 via Steam. 24. A DREAM COME 2 True to their word about the release of Assetto Corsa (AC) Dream Pack 2 and the version 1.3 update coming before [the end of] October 8th, Kunos Simulazioni (Kunos) have released both as of yesterday. The AC Dream Pack 2 contains in a first for PC racing simulations, a laser-scanned version of the Circuit of Catalunya in two layouts, and eight brand new cars with two of them in different versions making for ten in total. Similar to the first Dream Pack, the cars included have been selected from the results of polls where gamers have picked their favourite manufacturers and models via the Assetto Corsa website. "A resolution of 2 cm guarantees that every single bump, curb and slope is a perfect match to the real counterpart. The resulting accuracy combined with the advanced physics model of Assetto Corsa offers an unprecedented driving experience blurring even more the difference between virtual racing and reality." - Kunos Simulazioni Due to its complexity, the laser-scanned Catalunya circuit took nine months to recreate and is "the most faithful version of the Spanish track available in any racing game to date" according to Kunos. The cars fall in the Production and Racing categories, with the normal of the selection consisting of those from BMW, Lamborghini and RUF and the Racing having a Ford - the first in the game - legend, an Audi, another Lamborghini and that racing prototype SCG003 from that mega-rich jammy sod James Glickenhaus. Dream Pack 2 Content: Track: Circuit of Catalunya – GP / MOTO GP version Racing cars AUDI R8 ULTRA 2014 FORD GT40 MKI LAMBORGHINI Huracán GT3 Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003 Production cars BMW M4 Coupé BMW M4 Coupé Akrapovič Edition LAMBORGHINI Countach 5000 QuattroValvole RUF RT 12 R AWD RUF RT 12 R RWD The Dream Pack 2 is available on Steam for €7.99. With improvement to the core game engine along with new features to the physics engine the game now supports native 64-bit. The physics engine has been reworked and is now multithreaded (though there is a report of Dual Core instability that will be fixed on Monday) proving for a better driving experience, "butter-smooth" Force Feedback and the apparent removal of signal noise and vibrations. AC's physics code is extremely highly-regarded, constantly evolving with many improvements being implemented during its life. 1.3 takes this further again with advanced active aerodynamics, four-wheel drive simulation with active differentials, authentic driving assists, hybrid engine simulation and a scary attention to tyre-wear aspects such as blistering, graining and flat spotting. With version 1.3 we now present you a completely reworked tyre model that includes new features in connection with tyre-speed sensitivity, combined grip, slip angles and ratios, load sensitivity, rolling resistance and most importantly, separated heating for surface and core temperatures. As a result, driving in Assetto Corsa is now more realistic than ever. The driving experience is more natural while at the same time also more challenging at the limit. Real-life features such as driving carefully in the first two laps to heat the tyres or taking it easy to cool down overheated tyres after a spin, the handling of the car changing from turn to turn depending on your driving style or as a result of driver errors and choosing the correct tyre compound depending on the track and car combination and also your driving style will now become part of your daily driving experience in Assetto Corsa. - Assetto Corsa Facebook And they haven't stopped at the tyres. Improved ABS system and depending on the car you're virtually sitting in, the game now supports different generations of these systems using 1 to 4 channels. Active differentials are enabled for RWD cars such as the brand new BMW M4 and the height sensitivity of front splitters and diffusers have been adjusted making their influence more complex from a setup point of view. This update makes the cars "alive", their behaviour often changing from one turn to the next in response to how you drive... or something.
