It's just not called sim city, or made by maxis...

 

 

The game, called Cities XL, is set to release this September, and it's really well worth a look, and it definitely shows how much has changed since EA's last proper sim city, 6 years ago. the game utilises so many new technologies compared to the game pre-dating it, you're no longer constricted to horrible grids, and you now have a street view, just for tasters.

 

it's worth checking out over at http://www.citiesXL.com and it's also worth mentioning that the closed beta has begun, and codes are being given out all over the web (the best probably being a german site that will let you have a key upon registration)
