why do my pics look terrible

So, I'm pretty new to this photo "thing", I just wanted a couple of pics to use as wallpapers. When I take the pictures in game they look exactly as I want them, but after I close the game and apply the wallpapers the pics are of very bad quality, they look OK when opened as files but not ass wallpapers. I run the game on max graphics and resolution, so I am having a hard time figuring out what the problem can be. Please help!!

You might be running the game and screen at different resolutions, when the picture gets resized to fit your screen it might look really bad.
