Modding for dummies (i.e. me)

Hi,

 

I don't like to bother everybody with car mod requests (even though I did) ; and though I'm not totally sure if I'm 100% serious about this, but I might want to attempt something myself.

 

For somebody whose modding skills next to nothing what (free) software and tools would I need to make a car model, as well as textures ?

 

And how on earth would I go about it ? I imagine the 3D modelling might just be time consuming, but I can see textures being quite difficult...

 

I don't want to waste too much of anybody's time, I'm curious to give it a go but I also might end up giving up halfway through if it turns out to be too difficult for me...

There are no free tools do it with, you have to buy Zmodeler which is $60. To be honest, if you don't know anything about 3D converting/modelling it's a bit of a waste in my opinion. ;)

Hmm... not willing to spent $60 on something that will probably not go very far for me... I'll just have to hope somebody responds to my request :)

Buying ZModeler is absolutely not necessary to make a mod from scratch. You can modelize a car with free ZModeler. There are tuorials over the web to do this.

 

The only case you need to buy it it's to import (stolen or not) models from other people and games.
