Modding car names with patches installer

Hey guys!

First post here.

I've downloaded several cars and some didn't came with automatic installer. Since I format my pc every 3~4 months, I thought that was nice to make an auto-installer (will be for personal use, of course).

But... I don't know how to change the car names with it. I tried to take a loot at other cars that came with installers, but it didn't help. I've also searched here, looked at online help but nothing.

Also, how to install physics with the patch maker? I've downloaded a file... *.tdupk How to use it?

Can someone point me ... ?

Another things. In vehicle manager, there are some cars with grayed out icons. What are they? And why they're gray!?

Well, I think thats all. Thanks in advance! (and sorry if this has been asked before, I didn't found it!)

To add new names in a handmade patch:

- if you use 1.68b patch, some brands and names are included in it already

- if not and for other names you have to create them with the updateResource instruction in Patch Editor (TDUMT 1.15):

  • resourceFileName : CarPhysicsData
  • resourceValues : 15654545|Model1||1566554|Model2 etc...

where numbers can be chosen freely, but must not exist already. Check in DB Resource editor to know.

Then run this short patch and check if those names are now available in Vehicle Manager (TDUMT 1.15) > Datasheet. If so, assign those new names to your car and see if it works in game.

Let's begin with this. I'll give further instructions if it works well.

Oh, and to add new brands, you'll need another tutorial as it's a a bit more complex...

If you expect that Djey is going to vaste his valuable time on writing a step-by-step guide for this, then... you can forget about it. :p Why don't you just make a manual backup of your Database and Vehicules folders? That way, you'll have your precious cars with correct names, physics and so on. :)

I don't think a guide would be necessary for that ...

Did you even try the Vehicle Manager > Datasheet page by yourself as I've stated ?

Yes. I tried, but I was think on doing this with the patch maker, not by myself. But since I'm not a mod maker, I think that there is no sense on doing things that I'll not use.

I'll do what iLLusion said, I'll assign the right car names to my custom cars and I'll backup everything.

Thanks for the help, anyway :bananadance:

indeed...

I wish I wouldn't have lost 5 minutes of my life to make a tutorial, as you seemed to need one...

my bad, I won't do it again. This game does deserve people enhance it, but most of players do not.

Edit: this tuto was not finished, I was waiting for you to achieve the first steps before going on.
