Well she's up and running!! Got Windows installed but I have to fix a few things here and there and I should be able to start gaming and whatnot. DXDIAG shows all parts are accounted for and recognised..

My HDD light isn't working just yet and my fan lights aren't coming on yet either. (probs my fault) Also, my monitor has a black 1" border around it and the options to stretch to screen are grayed out.

I thought someone who's able to build a PC would be smart enough to check the resolution before asking here :p

Isn't 'Auto-adjust' more for VGA connections? The ones at work ignore the button if they are connected via DVI.

My TV has an autoadjust and it works for HDMI and I think it did for DVI when I used it.

And to the burnt out motherboard, ouch. You should be able to get it replaced for free though.

Was there anything underneath the motherboard and did you use the spacers for the motherboard so it wasn't shorting out on the case(Patch found out the hard way too :P)? Was the whole of the 24pin cable pushed in fully and the right way around, I've seen people try to force it in the wrong way around or only put 20pins in.

E: And please tell me you didn't try to overclock anything or change any timings, voltages etc in the BIOS.

Nah, Voltage and clocks were BIOS standard. I only saw the ASUS BIOS once before I installed windows lol

The 20 +4 pin fit fine and there was nothing behind the mobo. It had about a 1/4 inch clearance from the case and I don't have either side panel on just yet lol
