I dont know much about specs either, and what i'd have to buy other than casing, Processor (mother board) etc. :S
All you need to do is ask :)

 

Building isn't that hard. I'm sure if you asked your dad politely, then it'd be alright. The motherboard instructions are really easy to understand.
