Looks good, would've gone for a P45 mobo instead of a P35 and also most boards come with half decent soundcard onbaord now. Also I think the HD4870 out performs the gtx 260 and is alot better value for money or it was a little while ago. And why would you need another pluag as you would get one with the PSU.

Also could link each product to its page as i'm a bit lazy :p

a few things I have noticed now there are links, there doesn't seem to be a any front or side fan on that case and with that big card it will need some good cooling. Also that is a big card so make sure there will be enough room in the case for it.

If you stick with that case maybe a black DVD drive will look better instead of a white one.

I should go for the Cooler Master 690 case, its a case with a very good airflow and it has enough space for big cards like 260's and 280's

About the Videocard i dunno. I'm more a Nvidia fanboy so i should go for the Nvidia's, but the new Ati cards are really good for there price.

Why dont you go for a Quad Core proccesor ? Not that first one you sad but a faster one. They are getting cheaper and they are a lot faster than dual core.

Btw

How much dit it cost (your post above me) because you're budget was 1000 -1500 right ? You can get better things for your money

Hi, my advice to you: do not "save" in the power supply. Choose a good ad reliable one. Corsair is great, I recommend you the TX750 (not modular), for example.;) Enermax is also a good brand, but BeQuiet! is probably one of the bests... although is expensive.

CPU: I think a good Dual Core is actually better because you save a lot of money and the difference is not that much in games.;) Choose the Core 2 Duo E8600... is a very good and popular cpu.

Choose a motherboard with either X45 or X58 chipset. X58 if you are planning to do a good overclock. Otherwise, go for one X45.

Graphic card: "ATi HD4870" or "HD4870 X2". Best performance/price ratio.:) DDR5, lots of bandwidth.

Memory: go for either GSkill, OCZ or Corsair. Corsair are usually very friendly with Asus motherboards, and are recommended by them. But both GSkill and OCZ are very good too.

Sound card: using Windows XP? Forget the Asus, choose one Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium or even the Fatal1ty PRO Series with X-RAM, if you have more money. You will not have better sound in XP, trust me. ;)

I dont really get why you should go for Dual core. I have one and its fast, but i would definently go for a Quad (or the new i7) because they are getting cheaper and they are really fast. Plus you got enough money for it.

Actualy a 280 GTX is faster than a 4870x2 but if you go play on really high resolutions, than becomes the 4870x2 faster. You need a very big screen if you want that.

I should not go for the 4870x2 because it needs a big powersupply (650 +) And some good cooling.

As a dual core get an E8400.It's a great processor and for a mobo go get a P45 and at the video card get an Ati HD4850.It outruns the GTX...(dual core's are better than quad cores in gaming because not all the games are optimized for quad core so they will use only 2 cores...)

Hd4850 outruns GTX ? lol :p 280 GTX outruns it easy :D

Dual core isn't better because more games support it. A Quad core can easily do al those games, because it has 4 cores. So 2x dual core :p. Why does nobody want quad ? I mean he has a big budget, faster than dual, you can play all the games and for GTA IV is it a requirement.

I would prefer to focus first on a good power supply, graphics card, memory, sound card... and a good UPS (MGE Ellipse ASR 1000VA) for backup and protection. In the end if there was money left, then yes, Quad Core, why not. ;)

Games PC spec recommendations are useless. The minimums are too optimistic... and the recommended, well let's just say that they are in reality the best and expensive you can buy. :cheeky: The rest is just for filling paper space.

I'm not saying that Quad Cores are not better for some applications, but they hardly give you an "amazing" difference in games. If you forget benchmarks, you really don't have such a necessity for Quad.

Not even Crysis gives work to Dual Core the major time. It basicaly eats RAM for breakfast, lunch and dinner... and demands HDD usage.

You benefit a lot more investing in RAM (capacity/timings) and in two WD Raptors in RAID configuration.

That's my opinion. ;)

EDIT :

I've changed it to things they had in stock, so I can order it tonight or tomorrow.
