    When I joined this forum I was a 13yo that spent most of my life spamming the Atari EU forums, now I'm 20 and haven't really matured much, the jury is out on that one :cheeky: We all know how much work you put into keeping this place going Diablo and we appreciate that it's not the easiest job, so thanks :) I've met some great friends, enemies, acquaintances and a mellors throughout the past 7 years, it's been great, here's to another 7 years :D

    Yah it had a nice roll cage and serious looking interior, definitely a track toy. The garage it was parked in front of is only a few mins away from my uni house so I'm hoping to see it with its front bumper on one day.

    My uncle had one of them in red, over 10 years ago... it was rather crappy then, nevermind now :p The engineers of those diesel engines hadn't heard of the word refinement, however they do last forever.

    It might be the best all round 'product' but it certainly isn't the best choice, it's so GODDAMN BORINGGGGGGGGGGG. I'd literally rather paint my house and watch it dry than own a 2.0 TDI golf. They're perfect company cars or cars for people who don't care much and just want a transportation system. I'm not saying they're not class leaders for engineering but god damn its boring and soul-less. I also don't think it has any presence at all, nevermind 'a lot of presence' like you stated. But I guess that does come down to different countries/cities etc, where some cars might stand out more in one place they'll go by unnoticed in the next. Might I add, I've never seen the huge attraction and buzz over the above vehicle, if someone gifted me one I'd sell it immediately.

    But your laugh was regarding the GTI and GTD? I don't see the GTD as that bad a car, and it's cheaper than the GTI so I don't see where your point of price came into it. I completely disagree about the 5 door golfs, I think its the 3 door golfs that look completely off. The last 3 door golf I think looks good is probably the Mk4.

    Why? I actually really like the 5 door GTD, it offers good performance and running costs for a family. Though of course I'd go for the Seat Leon FR TDI instead and save myself so much money and get a much better looking car.

    :yawn: Regret opening and attempting to read some of the posts in this thread. Boooorinngggg and so not on the topic of diesel sports cars. My parents always choose diesel cars as they're more suited to the mileage they do, and the MPG my parents wish to get from the vehicle. As for whether diesels are suited to sports cars, I don't see why not, they're getting better all the time and with the world wanting sporty vehicles they can 'convince their wife it's a good idea to buy in todays world', the economics of the diesel might make you see them more and more in sports cars.

    Yah, I just think brushed metal or just normal alloys can do the same thing though and tend to look a lot classier :) Yah they look great, they contrast nice against the colour of the MX-5 :D
