  1. Or run the Steam mobile app on your phone for chatting (Swype ftw)
  2. I think you can buy them, but you can't "pay to win". You still have to get to Level 40 to use "xyz super awesome performance part" after buying it with crew credits. I think.
  3. GoKarting - as recorded by a friend. I started this race just behind him in 4th. (Kart #23, dark visor). Quite a lot of 'yellow flag' (traffic light) periods in this race.
  4. So the whole performance parts thing is still just a little bit vague to me - here's what I'm thinking: If you complete a Mission, Skill , or otherwise Level Up, you get rewarded with a performance part. I assume that this process: 1) Can be equipped to your current car immediately for free, or sent to HQ to be applied to one other car for free later, and 2) Unlocks that part for other cars, but requires in-game purchase (Bucks). So if you have to wait to unlock a performance part when buying it as a micro-transaction (real life money), I personally don't really see the point. Unless say you spend all your in-game money on a super-expensive Lamborghini when you unlock it, and have no money left to tune it to beat others online (assuming the relevant performance parts are unlocked but too expensive). Which I fear is a possibility. It just better not be priced so high to force grinding for months or micro-transaction to the same level as 'free to play' games like Race Room Experience or Auto Club Revolution. That said, by the time I reach supercar levels I'll probably be happy to just get the missions out of the way then just use them for cruising, assuming they have enjoyable handling.
  5. Or he's driving a LHD car in a RHD country.
  6. Aren't you a few weeks late? copycat :p
  7. Do you have (access to) a fast enough PC or console to play it on soon after launch? Will we see the return of the DarkAvenger?
  8. Calling it a beta just means we can't yell at them if something breaks, and also that they're still work on it (as in post release stuff). They can still of course patch servers behind the scenes even if the game is gold.
  9. The spec is a 'starter pack' of various parts - you can customise parts individually afterwards. Of course you're not going to make a raid spec vehicle look like a street spec on with those individual customisations though.
  10. That... explains a lot
  11. In case you're not up to speed on Factions yet - head over the the '101 trailer' thread and get yourself up to speed. *waits for speed* Ok, so now you know that all players can affiliate with one of 5 'built-in' factions, and compete online to contribute to faction points. All players in the best faction each month get cash and customisation rewards. Sadly, there is no 'duck' faction (must be too vicious or something). So which faction do we goat washers want to represent? Or do we want to get some internal competition going by splitting ourselves up into 2 or more factions? Or should we try liaising with other large Community Forums so that each of our forums joins one particular faction? Let's start off with seeing some poll results, and you can post below to share your bigger ideas. *
  12. Been a while since your last foray into a beta version of The Crew? Got a few unanswered questions about Factions? In need of an excitement level boost? Don't worry no longer, coz this 101 trailer aims to sum up what you know, fill in some of the gaps, and get you :drool:ing in anticipation for December 2. Are you on board the hype train? #SOOAG* *Oldschool TDU1 PC players will get the reference
  13. Plus all the extra achievements in game for stuff like jumping over trains, overtaking xx cars in xx seconds, etc.
  14. Well look what the Project Paradise mod dragged in. Welcome back Col :hiya:
  15. Hope this pole will do
  16. I know many think Ken Hack is a bit of a block and he's somewhat rubbish at WRC but there were some impressive stunts in that clip (even if the tyre marks reveal they had been practiced before). Long wheel base with such rapid acceleration would make precision drifting a bit harder I reckon. I was kinda hoping he'd accidentally crash into at least one police car though :p
  17. I've got Reckless Getaway on my phone and that's more than enough mobile driving game for me :)
  18. Driving a car is not hard. Driving a car fast is not hard. Driving a car in The Crew is not hard. But driving at the absolute limit does require advanced car control skills and should be challenging, as this is what creates *intrinsic* fun for me, that is, you enjoy driving for the sake of driving (and exploring). If it's otherwise just ho-hum then there's little point to playing beyond Level 50.
  19. Looks like Kenny Block beat you to it, Diablo :nnnn: Gymkhana Seven: How It All Went Down - Speedhunters
  20. So I assume they had to remove the front bumpers again before driving home? :)
  21. PC BETA #1 + #2 - Steering wheel / Hardcore mode: Given the lack of vehicles we got to try it's too early to be definitive. I just felt too disconnected from the car. Driver aids forced on - couldn't do a burnout (besides the fake one it does) and lose traction/spin out in Street spec. Driving the Camaro and Challenger in town was a massive chore - too much grip in Street spec. Driving on snowy roads was better, but this is how the car should handle on normal roads, and it should be much harder on icy roads. imo you should really only have high grip in Circuit spec. Wheel options/settings are a pain to tweak. It should calculate things like Linearity automatically by getting you to hold the wheel at 90 degrees. Offroading in other specs was pretty good. Darin from ISR was able to play the console betas with a wheel and was fairly happy with it though, so maybe there was some improvement. Having a 'hardcore' mode is half the battle won, we just need it to be more hardcore. I suspect the problem in making the Street spec on-road stuff better is that offroad/raid stuff becomes near-impossible. Personally I don't mind if that makes us non-competitive with Sports players, just so long as we can enjoy cruising together.
  22. TDU Modding Tools? In the main (EN/US) database bnk file I suspect.
  23. Don't forget that SP challenges typically are not available in Hardcore mode ;)
