Or perhaps for something a little more interesting AND Japanese, have a look at some Subaru's. Given how reliable (I think) they are, you could possibly go a little older to offset the price of a better model.

I agree that it sounds annoying in the video, but when I was playing with my headset on it was actually pretty good. Maybe over time with repeated use, but you can press buttons or use speech recognition to turn info categories on/off, such as spotting, timing, vehicle status, etc.

Most people complaining about price, I guess none of them went to bed expecting a Q1 release, then woke up with a release date in May. For flight and racing sims I think it's going to be epic. Some say this is Gen 1 so better wait but I'm calling it Gen 3. Oculus Rift ($649.00 ) + shipping = $781. About the price of an average iPhone/iPad high-end graphics card.

This is true. Very true. (Imagine all the extra ads to write though!) The other side of the coin is that if I wear a little of the cost it makes the car easier to shift despite it's age and mileage - stands out more. Or at least makes up for things like stone chips.

I'm tempted to write my own car ad... but every time I get into mine I think... I really like this car. To me, it's worth a lot more than what I could sell it for. I just worry that it might go bang one day. At least if I do decide to sell I'm safe in the knowledge that we could come up with a real funny one. :nuts:

I think if you were actually playing on that monitor you'd have the seat closer to the steering wheel (or FOV adjusted), so it's partially a marketing trick. Of course, I'd like to get an ultrawide as well, but I guess I'll wait and see if VR compensates enough.

Not much in the way of an Oculus press conference video on YouTube. I was expecting the unit to cost about the same or more than a console, and at $599 US + shipping, it certainly does. Will be closer to $800 here it seems. I was expecting the number of preorders to be pretty high, and they have been What I was not expecting is for all the Q1 allocations to be sold out. Current preorders have an estimated shipping date of May 2016. I've preordered anyway since no funds are taken until the unit ships, so I can jump out of the queue if I change my mind.
