  1. Gah, don't know how you guys manage to take photos in racing games, as that means you have to... stop racing
  2. So that's the end. Final WMD build was published last Friday, which represents the Day 1 patch available to the public when the purchase the game. It's still not perfect in a few areas, but overall SMS have delivered a game that the community can be very proud of. To see press compare us to Forza and GT is pretty special, but it will be interesting to see how the casual gamepad racers find the game. I don't think I've played another racing game where I can pretend that the AI are online players. They're skillful, challenging, daring, and sometimes imperfect. For me it makes racing them an absolute blast. See my latest video here. tduck members can also win a PC copy of the game.
  3. In search of some nostalgia, recreating the first race available to us in the first WMD build and comparing it to the original footage I still have. The racing last night was truly epic. Quite lucky not to get suspension damage in a couple of incidents. (Let's just say there were a few outtakes and race restarts). :) All details ultra'd out at DS4X (which I guess is similar to 4K res) and High FXAA on my new Titan X. Was hovering around 50-70 FPS.
  4. New competition that you actually have a chance of winning: turboduck Competition Competition. Win a Steam key for Project CARS! | turboduck forum
  5. Ok so it's now time to announce that turboduck has digital copy of Project CARS Limited Edition to give away to our community! :excited: Only problem is that I can't think of a good competition to find a winner. So what you need to do is suggest an awesome competition in a post below. The person who submits the best competition wins the PC Steam key. What we're looking for: * Detail * Something that could actually be actioned in future. * Just that little touch of zaniness that turboduck is famous for * Inclusion of smileys * Members would love to compete in your competition even without a prize because it's so amazing. * You should ideally be an active member of the turboduck community. It's not too late to start now! (but don't spam). You've got time to think about this one. We'll be announcing a winner on Friday May 1st (so get your entry in by Thursday 30/4/15 to be safe). You must be online and available to activate the awarded key as soon as possible, as it might not work after release. :bparty: :bparty: :bparty:
  6. If you've got even more time Otherwise
  7. If you've got an hour: Online faction race with Ahautz
  8. SMS have confirmed the golden build (and we were so close to b1000), and we now have the release date of May 7 for Europe and May 12 for USA. Andy Garton also shared his gratitude to all the WMD members. You can read that here. For those who are < Full Member, you won't be able to use your Steam discount while you still 'own' the Beta version (as it's the same game). SMS will remove your Beta access around a day or two before release so you can preorder it without losing access to the builds between now and then. Don't forget to make sure your PayPal account is verified (so you can receive funds) and that your PayPal email address is listed correctly in your WMD forum profile.
  9. GS6E battery seems to last 2 days with my somewhat light usage. Includes a couple of hours streaming Internet radio to my bluetooth headset. Occasional web browsing, night Edge clock, etc.
  10. Rumour that I'm seeing is pegging the release date ~May 8. Andy has confirmed the game has gone gold, which means discs can be created now. Andy Tudor on Twitter:
  11. Just allows you to see 69FPS. Some also say it improves their contrast in game. Worked ok for me but I had to put it back down so that the Elgato can record gameplay.
  12. Most normal LCD displays operate at 60Hz. Gaming ones may support 120Hz. If you have an nVidia graphics card, and you often exceed 60FPS in your games, you might try creating a custom monitor profile in a nVidia Control Panel. Basically just keep increasing the Refresh Rate by 1 (click No at the Test Successful screen) until you get an Out of Range error on your screen. Then go back one and save that as your custom resolution, select it and hit Apply. I was able to reach 69Hz, which is a 15% improvement. Some games may ignore your your custom profile, using their own hard-coded checks. I'm not responsible if you blow your 4K TV up. :)
  13. I think we can all agree that the weirdest ones have Administrator badges. :cheeky: :hiya:
  14. They should make part of the online reaction service available to real muso's with real instruments.
  15. :boom: I didn't want to build a whole new PC just yet so I did the next best thing. GTX 680 4GB FTW Edition to a bog standard Titan X... doubled my FPS and score. :woot:
  16. Do you know if they were offering only Steam keys or other platforms as well?
  17. You can find the answer in one of the recent articles on Project CARS WMD Portal (you'll have to scroll down and click More).
  18. Follow the links in the OP. Red Bull (PC/Steam) one is easy enough. I don't have a Facebook login so can't help with the Renault one. Not sure what platform it is.
  19. From your post, it seems like video rendering won't be a day to day occurrence, so I'd save some money by getting the i5. You can't afford custom watercooling, but something like a Corsair H80 is relatively cheap, low maintenance, and great for CPU temps. UEFI BIOS setups on ASUS mainboards have 'suggested' overclocking profiles which makes things pretty easy. I've had my 3570K overclocked at 4.1GHz for most of its life with no issue. I just wish I had gone with the i7 at the time because Sony Vegas seems to take longer to render compared to my old Q9550 system.
  20. Two good options there so I won't confuse you by trying to come up with a third. One thing to note: Core i5's are good for gaming, but if you're into video rendering, then Core i7 will net you a noticeable increase in rendering times. Newer AAA games are also getting good at making use of any extra threads your CPU may have, so that could change.
