  1. Just announced the other day was that XP OS Share is down to 17%, so the majority of gaming PCs will be on Win 7 and as such you'd expect a 64-bit simply to make use of all the RAM. Also there's good data available from the Steam hardware surveys. We're definitely at a point where studios can drop XP/DX9 support for AAA titles. I assume your driver note above relates to AMD/ATi as the nVidia drivers are into the hundreds.
  2. ~2 days more to enter
  3. I've always used the chatbox or Steam for that. Back in the days of scheduling a special event for the weekend I'd make a thread when you were guaranteed to fill 8 spots.
  4. Congrats. Which bike did you get? Oh wait :derp:
  5. Oh, I thought you needed helping sourcing a 125cc sound... I was going to suggest recording a racing car from Gran Turismo
  6. TDU1 was ~95 cars/bikes which jumped to around 145 with the megapack on PC.
  7. Video isn't related to any licences, I think it's just seen as the 'scariest' track The team isn't making a big deal about new track licenses as the tracks themselves have been in the game (and known about) for ages. Given the amount of work they've done on the northern ring in recent months it's a fairly foregone conclusion.
  8. I'd suggest it's gone down because of all the other games coming out. The kiddies can only afford to purchase so many games in a given time. The problem with comparing TC to TDU1 is that we now have a lot more stuff (gaming or otherwise) to hold our attention, so I can't see myself playing TC quite as much. Even during the beta I struggled to get in the mood (but that was partly down to the handling). 2m will still deliver a good profit (depending on original budget spend). I'm hoping a certain other game sells at least 3m.
  9. You couldn't put this in the other thread? :oook: I didn't think this game was 'that' excessive in its online actions. There's racing, and there's text notifs (social). Hardly different from some of the previous NFS games with their 'AutoLog' features. So where have they mucked up? The only issues I can think of are relatively elementary so I wouldn't even bother to suggest them.
  10. Really feel for those devs, makes you wonder what the "real" issue is (and not the PR one). Maybe selling way more PS4 consoles than expected had something to do with it. Maybe unoptimised network code (surely that would be discovered/fixed by now), or internal politics at Sony over who has to pay for additional servers/hosting (you'd think Sony would step in to protect their brand reputation but sometimes the bigger the beast, the more red tape there is. By the time a game is released the dev studios have often pretty much exhausted their entire budget, and so either need to generate income (sales) or get loans.)
  11. The front badge looks a bit like the logo for MalwareBytes AntiMalware, which (compared to the numberplate) is quite ironic.
  12. Nearly reminds me of some of the old movies we used to make in various games.
  13. Round 7 - Red Bull Ring Another track that I've never raced at before, but it's a track I did start to enjoy once I worked out a semi-decent racing line. Race 1 Race 2 As far as racing consistently under pressure goes, race 2 here is some of my best work so far.
  14. Round 6 - Eiger Nordwand Short (Reverse) Back here in a car with less grip on asphalt compared to the Stratos on dirt, with hairpins and plenty of tyre torture. I wasn't concentrating too well on this night. Race 1 Race 2 Made some brave overtakes near the start of race 2 but was getting held up and didn't want to risk crashing to went for an early pit stop... which was stupid.
  15. Round 5 - Bonus Round - Lancia Stratos @ Eiger Nordwand K Trail Reverse - 30 minute endurance race - DOUBLE POINTS! So for the first time I actually bothered to spend a few hours practicing for this race and finding the best setup/tuning. Paid off!
  16. Round 4 - Apricot Hill Raceway Race 1 Race 2 Good enough to justify a replay upload as well, some very close racing here! Not too bad for a track I've never raced at before.
  17. Round 3 - Laguna Seca A little too much oversteer exiting turn 2 sort-of started some unwanted side-by-side battling... and contact :\ Race 1 Race 2 Got a lil bored on my own at one point so did a little drifting and allowed the car behind to catch up.
  18. I dunno, I kinda see console betas as demo's (and your comment cements that) and server stress tests. PCs are so varied so you're more likely to find bugs. Of course console players will find stuff that's NQR. Maybe they don't complain as much on the forums. It just seems odd that they wouldn't take the opportunity to make sure the PC version is a-ok before release, or are they that confident
  19. +1 to everything ^ He should know better than to be driving a Mercedes in Brazil :) And to mess with 'flying kick to the head' Milli. Glad you're ok.
  20. Roger that
  21. Good stuff, this seems more like the PS4 they showed off at E3 2013. Lack of games, wheel support, and me just not liking the DS4 gamepad are the main things in the way at the moment, but overall I'm still liking the PS4 as a gaming system over the Xbox (which I may eventually get as a HTPC system).
  22. Yeah I never really enjoyed team work at school, either end up doing most of the work anyway and appear to be a control freak, or end up with worse grades and remain friends. A necessary evil as you need to be good at teamwork/projects if you go get a job in a corporate environment. Without knowing anything about the situation, I'd advise to save the smacking and chair throwing until after the teamwork is finished and project submitted for assessment. ;) In group discussions, try to get them to be the ones to ask you to do 'what (they think) you want to do' and ensure they see the value of it and understand the associated workloads before you get started.
  23. Not just a good entry, but an optical illusion When it appears near the top of my screen: and when I scroll just a little bit:
