There's already flying grass/leaves/smoke which I thought was PhysX anyway. I know recently they've been working on getting AMD cards improved performance on PC.

I think Julian's been spying on me during the previous beta, as I went free-roaming straight toward the snowy mountains as soon as I finished the tutorial, and I've also raced around 2 tracks with others without using the proper event. 2. Negotiating one year of 'free' development of features beyond launch sounds like a good enough reason to sell The Crew for a bit more moula than perhaps expected. iirc the original TDU1 team also lasted exactly one year after release, during which time they released 6 car packs, Hardcore mode, PC version, 2x PC patches, PC mega car-pack.

The great thing about Windows is that you can download things called programs which can do things like customise the user interface and make it much more like Windows 7 if that's what you want, and you get to keep all the other under the hood improvements. The Windows 8 Start menu returns with Start8! - makes a massive difference for instance. Windows 7 is great of course but don't forget it's already ~5 years old. Also eligible students can get a discounted price on the newest version. i.e. Windows 8 Pro Upgrade - Student Offer - Microsoft Store - Free shipping. Free returns.

I don't really remember the time in between not getting any DLC and getting the option of paid DLC. Given how long it takes them to make a car in The Crew (with all the modding and animations) then of course they will have stuff that comes after release. Remember TDU1 on X360 had 6 car packs and Hardcore mode, all of which were paid DLC. We just got a good deal with the megapack because we had to wait so much longer. If you plan on playing The Crew for as long as you did TDU1, then the Season Pass makes sense. That said I don't see any need to rush off and pre-order this early - I'll wait to see what deals are available and pick the best one, then add it to my Steam library that way. I've never seen a (single) game so expensive on Steam before

Older NFS games (2 and 3) won't install on 64-bit Windows However newer games are starting to take advantage of 64-bit Windows. I would get another HDD and dual boot your current OS with Windows 8.1 64-bit, which is bang up to date (and in line for more free feature updates), faster than Win7, and has the latest DirectX version.
