  1. Remember that time we had a photo of Baldy on the toilet as our site banner...?

Oh yes, so many name change themes - some members got suck with down to this day.  Without a chatbox it would be a lot harder to that now.

Remember when Camel banned himself by accident? On multiple occasions.

  2. One thing I don't like so much about FH games is that you often have to tune cars up so much to be competitive online that they lose their enjoyable handling characteristics. This was never an issue in TDU.
  3. I stumbled across this video which shows just how revolutionary our beloved Test Drive Unlimited game was (for 2006-7). Fast forward 12 years later and some of these features are yet to be given to Forza players: And before you go on about how FH4 has winter... What are some of your favourite features from older games like TDU1 that you'd like to see make a comeback?
  4. Welcome to the duck!
  5. Welcome to the forums Misu
  6. Also if you view Rushy's twitter page you'll see more comments clarifying the above, but also interestingly - he is now a part of Slightly Mad Studios.
  7. Former game director Paul Rustchynsky has clarified that the game will be delisted due to a standard 5-year licence deal expiration which is not related to the studio shutdown. Of course, if Sony can't sell the game any more, you can understand why they might terminate online services for it. Paul also clarified that any content you already own can still be downloaded from the store (i.e. if you replace your console) - the delisting simply means you can no longer purchase the game or DLC.
  8. Following the closure of Evolution Studios in 2016, Sony is now announcing the closure of online access for the popular racing game DriveClub. Fans of the game have one more year of online access before the servers are retired on March 31, 2020. If you have a PS4 console and have not yet tried out this game or some of its DLC, you will need to act a little faster as Sony will stop selling the DriveClub game and all of its add-ons following August 31, 2019. These dates have been added to the forum calendar. Source: engadget Screenshot courtesy ofSoundwave .

  10. Enjoy playing DriveClub? Enjoy racing online? Well, you better do both of these things before this date as the online features for DriveClub will be retired on 31 March 2020. Source: https://www.engadget.com/2019/03/31/driveclub-online-shuts-down-march-2020/
  11. My suggestion would be to see if it's possible to improve the post Editor/creator (i.e. where I'm typing right now). I still have some difficulty editing articles that have quotes in them for example - the quotes end up bigger (take more lines) than what I wanted. In the NMS article a quote touches the next subheading underneath when I had an extra blank line to separate them - so it doesn't look quite as good imho.
  12. Yes there is a lot you can do in this game if you like exploration and gathering all the things and building. Multiplayer is already available but I never got around to trying it. I'm guessing the future online update will bring something along the lines of competitive and cooperative multiplayer missions, etc. Maybe also clans of some sort.
  13. Balanced overview of all the updates leading up to this point for any who have missed it
  14. No Man's Sky has already been updated so much (and for free) since it originally released in August 2016, crescendoing with the "NEXT" update releasing last year with multiplayer finally reaching the masses. You'd forgive the small team at Hello Games for stopping there, but it is evident that they really do love this project that they are involved with, as they are now announcing their upcoming BEYOND update, which comes in 3 significant features, all being interwoven together. I - No Man's Sky Online II - No Man's Sky Virtual Reality III - ??? As well as Online and Virtual Reality, No Man’s Sky Beyond contains a third major feature set that we’ll be intrigued to learn more about later. No Man's Sky Beyond is due to release in Summer 2019 (northern hemisphere) on all platforms for free. A special edition of the entire game with all updates included will be available in retail stores for PS4 and digitally for all existing supported platforms if you do not already own the base game.
  15. Microsoft's Phil Spencer sent this email to his team:
  16. I'd imagine certainly too much lag for Racing or FPS games. Using Steam in-home streaming has been too laggy for most of the games I've tried, over a wired gigabit LAN with 1-2 hops. A recent Microsoft demo showing FH4 'streaming' has been called out as faked (or terrible, or both) in YouTube comments saying that the presenters' inputs did not match the screen output. But the question remains why so many large organisations are fighting to capture this market if the experience is going to be that bad? Or does 5G mobile Internet on the horizon change everything?
  17. Source: https://www.engadget.com/2019/03/19/google-streaming-video-games-gdc-2019/ "The company today revealed Stadia, the evolution of its efforts to make digital, on-demand video games reliable and viable. It'll be available this year in the US, Canada, the UK and Europe. Google dropped the news during an hour-long showcase at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Google's plans for its streaming service bring the industry's "Netflix for games" promises to life. Ideally, it will allow folks to play any game on any connected device -- think Devil May Cry 5 on your iPhone, Dead Cells on your smart TV or Apex Legends on a Mac. Stadia will be able to stream games in 4K, 60FPS and HDR color at launch, but eventually it'll support up to 8K. However, it's also much more than that." PlayStation, Steam Link, nVIDIA and now Microsoft and Google are all about the game streaming hype train! Are you hedging any bets as to what the future of gaming holds? And will you be a part of it?
  18. Maybe it's time to organise some more game to play online with everyone here. Just a tad hard for me here with the time difference.
  19. Rumours are creating a lot of discussions around what was previously codenamed an upcoming Xbox One Maverick console. A new name and preorder date have surfaced. Meet the new Xbox One S All-Digital Edition: While we can't 100% confirm this name is final, players have been quick to abbreviate it this SAD console and jeer Microsoft's marketing department for this seeming oversight. Preorders for this console are anticipated to begin in April 2019. No information about specs is available at this time, but we assume it will be very similar to existing Xbox One S hardware, perhaps with revised cooling and obviously no optical drive. Perhaps the in-built storage specifications are increased significantly to allow more simultaneous game installations. But then again, perhaps a justification against this is that owners of this console will be more likely to stream their games rather than purchase and install them. This would allow for the SAD Box to be sold cheaper. But will you need a console at all? Microsoft has been talking about making it's Cloud Game Streaming service available on all sorts of devices, including the Nintendo Switch and even on PlayStation. (I really can't imagine Sony signing up for that). Consoles often have sold at slim profit margins - it's the games and online services that rake in the money. So if Microsoft can have players using (or just paying for) its services on any devices, there aren't too many reasons left to care about selling consoles. Performance? Servers handle the performance of rendering streamed games. What about PCs? It sure has been nice to be able to play Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3 + 4 on my PC, even without an active Xbox Live Gold subscription. But I fear this may not last. A new 'fast-ring' preview build of Windows 10 has been revealed to support playing Xbox Game disc images natively, with Microsoft providing one game to these beta users for free and encouraging them to try playing the game and reporting feedback. This seems to suggest that future versions of Windows 10 will be able to play any Xbox 1 game. But when that happens, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft requires these PC players to have Xbox Live Gold. While fast gaming PCs may cost more to build, part of this is significantly offset by having free multiplayer and cheaper games. This being true in the future seems uncertain. Forza titles are only sold on PC through the Microsoft store, and at a very high price compared to what Steam customers may be used to. If you own one of these games on disc, there is no way to claim a digital copy on PC. The only saving grace is that the game can be purchased once for both PC and Xbox hardware, and with free multiplayer to boot. What about you? If you already own an Xbox One S or X edition, the new SAD edition won't offer much for you. If you don't, would you consider this as an option this late in the product lifecycle? Would you instead wait and see if a newer faster Xbox is released in a year or two? Have you tried any game streaming services before? What were your impressions? I've had bad experiences streaming Steam games over my wired LAN, so as a fan of racing games where quick reflexes (and minimal frame delays) are key, the prospect of streaming over the Internet doesn't seem like it will ever be viable for me.
