1. Not sure if anyone else here has seen this yet, but the presenters have been confirmed at Meet your new Top Gear presenters! | Top Gear Not sure about how many they presenters they have, but fairly happy to see Chris Harris in and to an extent Matt LeBlanc (because Friends), although I don't expect him to carry on with the Joey being silly/stupid act :p
2. So today my internet speeds went from 5.4Mbps download, 0.93 Mbps upload to: Yeah we did!
3. Quite impressed with the new Iron Maiden album and this song is really good (and long).
4. The BMW passed its MOT with no advisories again, so I'm glad I'm bucking the trend for the car. It had advisories (and a couple of fails) on pretty much all MOTs it had before I owned it.
5. Hardly anything personally: Still saving like crazy to be able to move out. Got out on the bike a bit more and did a fair bit of walking. Family related: My mum got through chemotherapy with no ill-effects and has (for now) been given the all clear - not cancer, but close enough. My sister had her first child in December making me an uncle for the first time. I should probably set some goals for this year so that when this question gets asked in a year's time it won't look like I've just been sat on my backside all year :(
6. My dad asked for a service kit for his Fabia vRS, so he'll get that and some other bits and bobs including car cleaning stuff which I'll probably use more than him - I don't buy car cleaning stuff expecting that to happen, but it's usually the case. Everyone else is being awkward and not giving any ideas so they're all just getting random (boring) things.
7. I'll watch a couple of episodes before making an ultimate judgement on it. Unless it's monumentally bad it will still be better than 90% of current TV in my opinion. There's only so much Fast n Loud I can watch being repeated before I start losing it. Still, I'm more interested for more news about Clarkson & Co. on Amazon Prime.
8. An off-shoot from Woods of Ypres. Spent a couple of hours going through a playlist on YouTube of this band, and I liked every song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxLfHyJXspU
9. A not-so-well known gem in Metal - both band and song. This one is a bit on the depressing side compared to a lot of their songs though.
10. Bought a Mobius v3 (standard lens) to use as a dashcam. Took it for a quick spin down the bypass earlier, no hooning involved because the BMW is recovering from a stuck brake calliper and the brakes still aren't right at the moment. Need to get a CPL filter or adjust the lens to remove the reflections as well. Also need to find a proper decent setting to render any possible videos as well. Went for the adheisive mount which sticks to the windscreen incredible well - chose the adheisive mount because I get the impression it'll be less obvious than a suction mount. Taken it out for now because the BMW is off for new diff seals and fluid, rear suspension bushes and a guibo joint soon, but I'll get it wired up properly afterwards.
11. I'll never get bored of this album, the lyrics can be a bit depressing in places though.
12. Gave the shed a 'quick' clean.. Trying out some Sonax Gloss Shampoo instead of the Meguiars Gold Class I normally use. Then Bilt Hamber clay bar (barely picked up anything over the whole car which I was pleased with), Gtechniq P1 polish, 50cal Filler Glaze on bonnet/roof/boot as a test, then FK1000P over the whole car. All by hand, who needs to go to the gym :p Doesn't come up too bad for a 115,000 mile/11 year old that gets cleaned by an idiot :p :)
13. * Which of these stereotypes resonate with you? It is a mixture of The Dad Inspector and The Rage Monster with me. The rage doesn't go no-where near to the level in the video, but I do get a bit irate when people are just complete morons who really should re-take their test or put their phones down and pay attention. * Are there any that you have grown out of (or hope to s**n)? Out of the others I don't think there are any that apply to me. * Have you ever sung out loud when driving/riding? Would you only do it by yourself, or have you done it with friends? Who started it (you or them)? I usually just tap along to the music, the most I've done is hum along to music. * Are you a little ashamed of how long it's been since you cleaned out your car interior? Or exterior for that matter? How long has it been? No, this is where I really make myself look like a loony to the people who live on the same road as me because I'll vacuum and wash the car almost regardless of the weather every weekend. Since I've had the BMW it hasn't gone a week without a clean. It was almost the same with the Peugeot after four years, but it snowed on a Friday and remained around 0 celcius over the weekend so I decided not to get the hose pipe out for risk of creating an ice rink on the hill I live on. Even then I used some waterless cleaner in a spray bottle to spruce it up a bit :p * Did you ever resist being a 'backseat driver' with negative consequences? (Driver stuffed up) Worst one was when I was with my step-dad and it wasn't that bad in the scheme of things. He was driving his BMW in to a car park to go to some shops and he didn't realise there was a kerb on the inside left as he turned so he rammed the back left wheel up over the kerb leaving some nice marks on the alloy wheel. Didn't have a lot of time to warn him though. * Anyone in your family got stickers all over the back of their car? No, but my sister loves to put silly trinkets all over the inside of her car. She has the typical nodding dog, two teddy bears either side of the back window, a cushion with the union jack on it across the back seat, and random things hanging from her rear-view mirror. All of this bothers me more than it should. * Anything else worth sharing? Negative.
14. Trying to find bands with a similar sound to Windir, luckily there seem to be a few from the Sogndal area of Norway including this one (old members of Windir) and all of the bands from that area seem to carry a similar sound.
15. This guy knows how to hustle a Seat Leon around the Nürburgring.. I think for one reason or another he might know the track quite well though
16. Back to listening to these guys again after a break..
17. Wanted to like it because I like quite a few of the music videos you post, but that wasn't for me unfortunately. My first post in here in a while and its not Metal... Dat drop.
18. I took the test and I was placed just inside the green quarter, any small amount of movement right or up and I would've practically been in the middle :p Regardless of how the Greens ideas seems to tie in with what I think in some places on a national level, I am probably not going to vote. Looking at the Greens policies for the local area there are only two policies which would put me in their favour and that is their plan to bring back more industrial work to the area and to also stop the untouched natural areas around us being sold off and potentially destroyed. As far as I remember the local area has been sticking with Conservative since 2005 - I'd be surprised in a change of MP here. Quite honestly I trust none of the parties to keep their promises once they've been voted in, I never have done and probably never will. I've seen very little change in the local area while the current MP has been in place, infact the area has got worse. I remember when I was still in a push-chair and my nan used to go shopping where she lives now, she would go in to almost every shop on the high street because they all had something unique to offer - it would take hours to do a shopping trip in a town that I could quite comfortably walk the length of in ten minutes. I wouldn't be voting Conservative if I was voting, they've had ten years of saying that they would help bring more businesses and jobs to the local area amongst other ideas that sounded good, but we haven't got those and there is very little else to show their efforts unless pound-shops and take-a-ways count. Quite frankly we've got sod all now.
19. I was about to suggest swapping the graphics card, even if you do it the other way round and you have an older PCI-E card in your old PC then put that in the new PC as a test, it isn't staying there so as long as it's PCI-E it won't matter. As for the motherboard not beeping, mine doesn't do that and all of the computers where I work don't do it either and they're a number of years out-of-date, infact I almost forgot computers did that. Either that or I just phase the whole beeping thing out now :p
20. A van showed up where I work a couple of weeks ago which was on Bulgarian plates, but that was a one off as it was over here to pick something up from us and then drive all the way back. Other than that the ones I see probably once or twice every couple of months are Lithuanian and Polish plates and they're getting on for 1000+ miles. I'm in the south west of England. The one I always remember most was a BMW E46 in southern Tenerife which was on English plates, never expected to see that over there :p
21. I think if I did buy a car that was older than what I have now I'd probably use it as a secondary car for weekends rather than a daily driver. I have had a look at E36 328is in the past along with the obligatory (from my perspective) MK2 Golf GTI, but there is no way I'd be taking either to work every day. I'm putting 300 miles a week on the E46 just going to and from work and I wouldn't want to put that sort of mileage on an older, more sought after car. There are a lot of cars I would like (last weekend I was looking at 90s American pick-up trucks with big diesel engines), but I think I'll have to keep my sensible head on :p
22. It looks like I posted in this thread before I got the BMW so I succeeded in buying my future vehicle (at that time). Would love another BMW next. Problem is the BMW has had more wrong with it and cost (alot) more to sort out in a year than the 306 did in three years. The 306 is still soldiering on now with my dad driving it every day. There is something up with the ABS, but the car still starts, stops and can put a smile on your face and it's never spent a weekday off the road due to a problem unlike the BMW which has had a the odd week out of action here and there. Part of my wants to say "Sod BMW" and get a MK6 Golf GTI or something similar next and see how I get on with that. The other part of me says stick with BMW and the costs, but go for a 3.0 petrol E90 next. Then there is the wild card that lurks in the back of my mind and it keeps telling me to get a Land Rover Defender 90 to do some offroading in on the weekend while still running the BMW. The sensible part of me says stick with the BMW, save all the money you can and move out as soon as possible which will more than likely be the winning idea.
23. Haven't posted in here in a while. Love the style of The Long Dark.. and I tried out ProjectCARS for the first time in over a year last week, fairly impressed by it where as I thought the complete opposite the last time I played it in all honesty..
24. Yeah, the stones in the last photograph did get me, luckily I know to turn around so my back gets it rather than my camera :p
25. Should be able to run it ok (assuming a decent port of the game), my PC meets most of the recommended specs, if not all. The download is very steep for my internet which downloads stuff at 800kb/s though, so retail boxed game for me it is. Hopefully should get fibre optic broadband a short while after so it'll be videos/streaming galore for me. Won't bother transfering my online character from PS3 though, it's probably not even level 3, haha.
